  • Railfanning Norfolk Southern districts In Macon, GA and surroundings - here just called Maconland - is never disappointing. If this claim requires evidence, here it is. A day full of rail activity near the NS Brosnan Yard has been condensed into a one-hour video. Watch 26 trains with all kinds of EMD and GE locomotive consists and "foreign" units, which includes a UP-patched ex-SP unit as leader of NS 119. Special high-&-wide loads are interesting add-ons as well as the beautiful scenery under the Macon-style blue sky. Enjoy this video as much as I did enjoy my visit. The audiovisual perception is greatly enhanced if you can watch it on a large monitor or screen in Full HD resolution. Comment, like, and subscribe :)

    Have I told you that your videos are about the best there is for a railfanner? Excellent!

    • @mbmars01

      Wow, that's truly awesome. Thank you very much. I hope I'll be able to keep the standards as high in future productions.

    Awesome! I was raised in Warner Robins, GA and now live in my ancestral county (still middle GA), and have always loved freight trains. I love this Macon Freight Train Video - you can hear the muscle in those powerful diesel engines. It had the appropriate horn blast, but had enough of the engine rumble that I love. Artistically done. Cool stuff.

    • @mbmars01
      @mbmars01  7 лет назад +1

      Very cool. Thank you, I'm very happy you like the style. I also love the sound of accelerating engines. A train at full speed is quite a blast, but literally feeling the "muscles" during start-up out of a full stop is another mesmerizing railfanning experience. It's great that the camcorder is capable of recording the sounds in a very authentic way. It's really nice to feel the power and if it's just the roar of the subwoofer at home!

      Nice, I'm happy you like it. The light in Macon is awesome. For this and other reasons, it's one of my favorite railfanning towns in Georgia.

    I LOVE NS locomotives...I don't know why I like that simple paint livery they have so much. It's so bad ass looking!!

    • @mbmars01
      @mbmars01  7 лет назад

      Yeah, I also like them, although filming black locomotives at night is particularly challenging...

    Thanks for listing the street locations. I'm way up here in PA. and may never make it that far south, but I Love to follow along on Google maps to see where you actually are filming from. I also don't mind the long videos, if I can't watch it all I can always finish later!

    • @mbmars01
      @mbmars01  7 лет назад

      +Edward Hugus Very cool! I know that some people like to track my routes and others actually come visit these places. When I intend visiting other lines, I also appreciate if other video creators provide information about the locations where they filmed. Due to the enormous production effort, very long videos are exceptions.

      mbmars01 I understand you put in a lot of work, I get TIRED of always reading comments and people cry about a video being long. So who the heck is sitting there next to them twisting their arms off forcing them to watch it all at one time? Some people batch just to hear themselves I think. SOME people appreciate being able to watch and learn from other people's efforts...thanks to all of you out there!

    • @mbmars01
      @mbmars01  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks so much. I know there are several people who like to watch long videos and don't get tired. If produced well, a long video doesn't need to be boring. My experience is that longer videos perform better than short ones, which may be due to RUclips's way of suggesting videos.

      Lol, I had no doubt about it, but to get closer to the yard action would require official support, so if you know a yard master... Take your time, the video is worth it - promised ;)

      +mbmars01 most of our coal freight operate 3 engine electric engines and the larger operate 4 diesel in Queensland, in Western Australia, BHP operates the US locomotives with smaller wagons to achieve 200 wagon iron Ore car trains. We don't have double stack/oversize trains anymore

      I happened on your videos just recently, and during the quiet time at work - 1:30am to 3-3:30am, this is when I watch. As I tell people, up here in Connecticut - the old New York, New Haven and Hartford - I see more Amtraks than anything else..... a few freights, coming out of, and heading up to Springfield, Massachusetts, but NOTHING like what you have there in Georgia. Just keep up to the great work, and I'm gonna' keep on watchin' !!!

    • @mbmars01
      @mbmars01  6 лет назад +1

      Well, the northeast has very busy rail lines, of course, but like everywhere, one has to find these lines and the trains. I'm happy you like the videos!

    • @viperessprincess1012
      @viperessprincess1012 6 лет назад

      I hear what you are saying about finding these lines.... but, you how it feels when you can walk just a 1/3 of a mile, and there's the line going from New Haven, all the way up to St. Albans, Vermont, yet, the busier lines are down at the shore, and up in Springfield, and then up towards the Hoosac Tunnel ???? A rail line right outside your door, but you have to travel 50 miles for any real activity...... in plain English, that sucks. So your videos are a real treat.

    Around 24:02 was that a transformer unit and other two were tractor part units?

    • @mbmars01

      Yes, it was a transformer. I would also think that the other special loads were parts of large equipment or vehicles.
