Saying something is "delicious" can be expressed in formal, standard, or informal ways. You should choose which version you'll use depending on who you're saying the word "delicious" and how formal or polite you want to be.
Practice saying this phrase during the pronunciation section to make sure you are comfortable saying it correctly. It'll be useful if you're living in Korea or if you're living near Koreans in your area.
This phrase is the standard and most common way of saying "delicious" in Korean. You may hear other people simply saying 맛있어 (masisseo), but this is informal and shouldn't be used unless you're speaking to someone younger than you or someone very close to you. Otherwise, stick with the way we will teach you in the video.

The screen is showing “masisseoyo”. But I am hearing “basisseoyo”. Does it actually pronounced with ‘m’? Or it is my hearing issues? 😣
Thanks for your comment! For this one, the closest sound is “ma”. Korean and English won’t have exactly the same sounds. If you say "ma" that would be the closest.

love it! I keep hearing the word massida in Korean drama and want to learn how to use it. But why do the actors use massida to say the food they're eating at that very moment is delicious and not masisseoyo ?
맛있다(masitda) is like saying 'delicious!' as an admiration or exclamation. 맛있어요(masisseoyo) is more like saying 'it's delicious' to someone.
@@90daykorean ok, now i understand, thank you so much for enlightening me, and also i like that you show the Korean characters of the words ^_^
@@90daykorean is it masitda or mashita? Omo I'm confused!

how do you say “delicious” in casual form? ^^ thank you~
You can say 맛있어(masisseo) or 맛있다(masitda). ^^
@90 Day Korean thank you so much for your reply!!
@@90daykorean what is mashi nen meaning in english
Whats the difference between mashitta and masitda??
Love your videos!! Greetings from México!
맛있다 is pronounced as "masitda" and the meaning is 'it is delicious'. ^^
But what is mashta. Srry may be written mistek.but i heard it From BTS when they Eat Food thn they said “hmm Masta”.....plz reply.
맛있다(mashitta) is "delicious" in informal/casual speech. It can also express admiration, like "맛있다! (=Delicious!)"
It's delicious.
Why the verb 이다 is not used for this?
Option 1 : 맛이에요 (using 이다)
Option 2: 맛있어요 (using 있다)
이다 means "to be", so 맛이에요 means "it is the taste".
@@90daykorean since 이다 also means equal I was thinking like this is equals as delicious. Was wrong, although is at some point still confusing me.
Thanks for taking the time to answer.
Cheers from Argentina!

Delicious - Masitsseyo (or) masitda
Both mean 'Delicious!' 맛있어요 is polite, 맛있다 is casual/informal. ^^
Duolingo teaches it as 맛있습니다 are the 2 ways interchangeable or are they different?
맛있습니다 is the formal version. The meaning is the same. ^^
I really appreciate the help. I didnt know if I would get a response since this is an older video it means a lot that you still go and give help because I couldn't find the answer anywhere

She is saying bashiseyo ..but they wrote the word starting from "m"
Thanks for your comment! The sounds are really similar. Korean and English won’t have exactly the same sounds. For this one, the closes sound is “ma”. ^^
When you are talking how can you tell the difference between 마시서요
And 맛있어요?
Hi Sage, 마시서요 doesn't mean anything in particular in Korean. If you say 맛있어요, that would mean "it's delicious." ^^
Why am I hearing "t" sound like "masitseoyo". Correct me if I'm wrong. What was taught to me in KLC is when the final consonant is next to vowel, the sound should be medial (of siot), so it should be "s" like "masisseoyo" not "masitseoyo". Also the "masitda" sound that I heard should be "masisda" because it is in medial. I'm confused or there is a problem in my hearing? Can you shed light on this. Komapseumnida!
Sure, I'll try explain what you might be hearing. ^^
You heard "masitda" for 맛있다 and that is correct. When the ㅆ followed by consonants, in this case, 'ㄷ'. it is pronounced as 't'. For 맛있어요, you might expect to hear "masisseoyo" due to the medial sound rule. However, in casual speech, the ㅅ can sometimes sound like a "t" at the end of a syllable. So you may hear "맛있어요" as "masitseoyo."
Korean pronunciation can sometimes change in casual or rapid speech. So what you hear is not wrong, you are just picking up subtle pronunciation changes that happens in spoken Korean!
Keep practicing and listening to native speakers, and these nuances will become more familiar to you. ^^
🥰🙏🏼
Thank you for the comment!
I once heard my Korean friend say something like "mash-keh-tah" it was similar to Mashisa... what did it mean?
맛있겠다 is informal, meaning "It looks delicious."
Why would you write the main words in Korean? 😁I could not understand the root word at 0:41. Bashipta? Mashipta?
It is 'masitta.'(맛있다) ^^
@@90daykorean thank you. But Is it pronounced as “ BAsshita?”
I hear mashisseoyo ! oh come on :'(
Hi! You heard it correctly, the combination of ㅅ and ㅣ can create a "sh" sound when speaking naturally. This is a common aspect of Korean pronunciation. ^^
안녕하세요 👉👈
안녕하세요! 반갑습니다. ^^

jinja and jeongmal same meaning right?
Yes, they both mean "really." ^^
What is the difference between massisoyeo and 맛있네요 mas-issneyo?
Hi! 맛있어요 is a plain statement. 맛있네요 expresses admiration. ^^
@@90daykorean ahhhh thank you.
The last sentence. Why did I hear igeo wo jinja ?
Hi! What you heard is the "vowel elongation" which happens a lot in conversations. Koreans often stretch out the last vowel of a word, to emphasize certain part of speech. In this case, 이거 to 이거어. This makes the statement stronger. ^^
I learn this from newjean 😭
That's great! ^^
@90daykorean it's kinda cringe but oh well 😭
Annyeonghaseyo,, what about "Jungmal masit-sseoyo" ???
안녕하세요! 정말(jeongmal) means "really" or "truly". So 정말 맛있어요(jeongmal masisseoyo) means "It's really delicious."
Gomawoyo 💟
Masitda (da)? But u pronounced it (ta) ? Is D sound like T?
Is it ba or pa? Which one ..?
If you mean 마 in 맛, the closest sound in English is "ma". ^^
what is the difference between 너무 and 진짜?
Both are used for emphasis. 너무 means “too” or “overly”, and 진짜 means “really”
@@90daykorean so i can use 너무 instead of 진짜 and vice versa, right?
Great question!
Sometimes they can be used in place of one another, and sometimes it won’t fit. It depends on the context of the sentence. They are similar, though.
For example:
너무 좋아요 = too good
진짜 좋아요 = really good
The first means “overly good”, but it has a positive meaning of “overly”. The second is “very good”.
I hope that helps! ^^

Sometimes audio could sound different on various devices, so you could also try listening on another device and see if there is any difference. ^^
