In fact, melasma can affect any part of your skin that is exposed to sunlight. That’s why most people with melasma notice that their symptoms worsen during the summer months
I have had measma for over 10 years and still have it.The only time it went away was when I had a brain injury and had to stay in my room for 30 days with no lights whatsoever and it was miserable.Also I have tried every cream made for it.Nothing works .My husband says I'm beautiful no matter what .The less sun exspisure the better of I am.

I got melasma at 25 aprox.. probably because birth controll pills, I have also had plenty sunburns when I was younger.
Or it could be the colored foundation/skin cream I was using that time. Probably the pills though, and Ive had it since that day in the mountain sun.
It’s most prominent in summer as it’s not as sunny all year. I wear spf 50 and try to make sure I always wear it at least when it’s visible sun. I also wear a cap very often.
I tried first using spf 30 but it’s not enough and Im not going back to that.

I am using creams since 2 yrs but I can't see improvement..even if it gets less then it comes back and gets more worse in one or two days only now i am using pepper paste and antioxidant syrup..less sun exposure and a sunscreen it has been only a week but i can see a great improvement

Have been treating my melasma by washing the areas with Head and Shoulders shampoo and has drastically faded the spots :)
It maybe fungal then. Try selsun shampoo

Hydroquinone can burn the skin so be careful while using.. it should be mixed with any other cream. N should not be used fir longer period of time

I use sunscreen indoor and outdoor SPF 50. Use raw turmeric face pack twice weekly. Apply vitamin e capsule on affected area daily before bed. I have seen a lot of improvement after I started following this routine. Its almost fading away now. Always remember SUN EXPOSURE is our worst enemy. Also wash your face thoroughly if u use hair colours. Keep your face clean always.
