Haven’t played the oboe in a year, will try this in september in my middle school band because I don’t have an oboe.

@@FredoniaOboe Would you mind if I featured a few seconds of this on my own video, in which I'm learning to play the oboe?

That comes with time. You just need to build strength and flexibility in your embouchure and air support system.

I am new at playing the oboe what is the easiest way to tune a low and high E on the oboe

    • @FredoniaOboe

The low E (I am assuming E4) tends to be sharp, so I would roll out my embouchure a bit (reed and lip moving at the same rate) and shape my mouth into an "oo" vowel enough to keep the pitch down. For the high E (I assuming E5), I would roll in the reed and embouchure a bit more to keep the pitch up if it were flat, or keep rolled out if it were sharp. E5 can be a very unstable note on the oboe, depending on the make you are playing on, and it can be one of the notes that is very effected by the stability(or lack there of) of the reed. For both notes, I would keep my air support solid, and tune with the reed rolling in and out and/or my mouth cavity shape.
