One of the finest professional Alto players who ever lived & one of Jazz's best artists. A true legend to his craft. He also had the benefit to play & collaborate with some of the greatest artists of their time ❤
Without doubt Art Pepper is among my major "influencers" in playing the alto saxophone. Actually, his style is what I aspire to sound like, infused with my own. I just love the music of this great jazz artist. May his "art" be "peppered" for always. In this jazz giant I believe.
This was the band that Art felt most at home with. You can hear it in his playing. I was at an Art Pepper tribute in Hermosa Beach and during a round table discussion and Laurie Pepper said as much.
This sounds like Art after he got out of San Quentin after his stay for a drug bust. I saw him at Shelly’s Manne Hole in Hollywood in the early sixties after he was released and was shocked that he sounded like Coltrane who he had been listening to during his stay. You can hear that with a little Ornette!

Art Pepper doesn't need to be compare to anyone , he was "UNIQUE" one of a kind!!!
What can I say ,art pepper was one of the best 👌

Quelle chance qu'il soit venu a Vienne !!! j'aime beaucoup son style rafiné .

The guy from Gardena California was born to be a superlative jazz man...and that he was...'he done his way'....

Doskonala wersja
love his groove and melody but there's something about his tone that puts me off
Something about your tone puts me off.
@@michaelsilver8527 I'm entitled to having an opinion old man, you never heard my tone and I doubt you're any better so shut your mouth
You can hear the Coltrane influence
NEVER as good as GATO. Dream on.
You're absolutely right... he never was as good as Gato... Art was far better!!
I'm relatively new to jazz.. Art pepper and Coltrane are my favorites so far. Never heard of GATO. I'll research him and get back to u
