    Basically all you need you do is find a container that holds the amount a tray uses. Start filling the bucket and then start scooping out with your container. Dont need to do any timing or marking lines. Awsome idea though.

    Hey Nate! Great Video! A way to speed this up is to measure the volume... Makes it a lot faster than measuring the length of time. Most 1020's take 1 cup of water in early growth and 2 cups of water in late growth depending on the crop and growing method.

    That actually makes it more time consuming. If you have 20 trays that need to be watered, that takes 10 seconds. Either way you will be running the water for 200 seconds.
    With method 1, it'll take you 200 seconds.
    With method 2, it'll take you more than that since you have to dunk the jar in the bucket.
    Not only did you make it more complicated, but you also made it more timely.

      The point is if you’re working you can be doing another task while a few large buckets are filling
      “Filling buckets up”
      Then you go do another task while it’s filling up
      Might save you a few minutes that’s all

      Furthermore, in the winter when tap water is much colder you get the added benefit of room temperature water for your microgreens. This is the problem I was trying to solve when I came across this video. Thanks guys!

    could use a measuring cup to water them from the bucket. Already has measurements, a handle, and a pour spout.

    I like how you make it easier and less time consuming. I'm a fan of easy! Little things here and there help out in the long run. Keep up the good work sir. 😁

    I was adding 32 OZ water every three days and caused roots rotting . Now I will try the 16 oz water every two days until I get a feel by the weight. Thanks a lot!

    Hey Nate - Ive watched alot of you you tube vids, and Im watching your webinar right now. The fake chat feels reeeeeeaaaly SCAMY. One one hand your going on about making the world a better place and on the other hand you have a fake chat running. I have been scammed recently and a fake chat was part of the scammers technique. If you are for real you might want to reply to this post with a pretty good explanation!

    Big fan of bottom watering! One question before I start an experiment...has anyone tried bottom watering with no medium? Barley fodder is something you can grow in 1020 trays without a medium but most folks I've seen do it use top watering. I'll go ahead and give it a whirl but wanted to see if anyone had success bottom watering with no medium....

      Not related to your comment at all, but is he using slotted trays for the microgreens? I mean he doesn't specify, but I'm assuming its slotted because the water needs somewhere to go lol

    Nate I saw another channel where the grower of the micro greens weights them down for three days then put some in black out for three days. So her greens are quite tall by the time they were exposed to light. What are your thoughts about that? I currently weigh mine down for 3 to 5 days until they start sprouting and then put them under light so perhaps I’m not doing it the best way possible? I’ve loved your course thank you so much

    Are the trays and flats sold separately or you get them as a package?

    Hey Nate, so first off i love your videos man :) So i just started my hydroponics microgreen adventure and I'm not sure why but I've done step by step everything I've seen on a bunch of videos and yet my microgreens seem to stay short. My broccoli was set under pressure (had a brick over a tray) and in the dark for 5 days, but still i never get a good growth. Any suggestions ? i use a 10x20 and I've tried jute mats and a regular cotton mat so far. i tried without nutrients and I've tried with nutrients(maxigro). Now i do see more growth with the maxigro but still nothing even close to what I've seen people grow. maybe about 1 inch or an inch and a half after 5 days. I'm pretty sure that's not right.

    Are you using ph balanced or filtered water?

    • @MicrogreensFarmer
      @MicrogreensFarmer  4 года назад +1

      No - just tap water

    • @GrandPrairieMicrogreens
      @GrandPrairieMicrogreens 4 года назад

      @@MicrogreensFarmer So, you're using tap water throughout the entire growing process? I've heard other growers using ph only, how important is it? I'm a newbie!

    • @MicrogreensFarmer
      @MicrogreensFarmer  4 года назад +2

      @@GrandPrairieMicrogreens In my opinion, it's only important if your growth is significantly worse with plain tap water. Test a couple trays side by side, one with regular tap and one with ph balanced and see which gives you better results. Some places have terrible water, and it becomes more important.

    WHAT IS YOUR MEDIUM

  • @microacres8207
    @microacres8207 4 года назад

    This process doesn't take into account that most crops need different amounts of water on a basic level let alone how much water they need during different stages. At least address this as a caveat.
