But then again, when you have assistance... 🤷🏻♀️ There's no way I'd have ever seen that without you, so thank you so much for your amazing film!
Okay but for some reason moms have that scent of comfort that would just feel relieving. My mom does have that, and it is comforting. But i hate her with all my life, i wish i was as comfortable with her as the natural scent wants it to be
It’s so cool watching a queen ant and her very first daughter work so closely together to help the newest adult ant emerge to join them. And how the young ant asked her mom for ant milk was so intimate and sweet. It was endearing how the queen ant kept gently touching her daughter’s face as she fed. Keep up the great work Mikey, I love all your videos! Ant love forever ❤️
Funny enough, they actually can! Some ant keepers sometimes do something called 'Brood Boosting' where you steal brood from a wild colony and give it to a starting queen with brood. The ants hatching from the adopted cocoons act like ordinary workers of the colony and believe the queen is their mother. Even crazier is there is a whole genus of ants called slave-making ants (Polyergus sp.) that specialize in raiding Formica host ant colonies, stealing their cocoons then taking it back to their nest. The Formica ants that hatch from these stolen cocoons end up doing ALL the work for the colony. The slave-making ants can't even feed themselves. They need the Formica slaves to feed them! 🤯🐜

Newborn mammals are also covered in a membrane and basically, all species except humans lick/eat this layer off to clean and stimulate the newborn. Like mammals, it may give off a scent that is also attractive to predators (like flies) so that is why they hurry to clean their new baby off so it doesn't attract TOO much attention (only enough to entice workers to help it exit its casing!) What do you think?
"all species except humans lick/eat this layer off" Some cultures very much still do this, and now there are people in western cultures that dry and grind up the placenta to put in capsules.
@@hummanbean4898 Eating the placenta is pretty common in a lot of cultures, actually. It's packed full of nutrients that are vital for new/nursing mothers. It's really so interesting how the "cleaning" might act as a stimulation for the newly hatched one to start moving! I was thinking about how a dog and cat mama licks their puppies and kittens bottoms to stimulate them to go to the bathroom. We can see in the video, the ant inside the cacoon didn't start moving until their sister licked them for the first time and they started moving even more as the queen and the worker ant kept licking even outside the cacoon! Like a signal "hey, we've been dangling you around but now its time to wake up!". Also, it's something the worker ant and the queen do due to instinct to keep them clean and out of any dangerous bacteria since the new ant can't move for a bit but woah.

Ur a really good narrator u know. Ants canada should be hired or given a spot on gma or abs so we can have a show that can educate people about ants
This series just keeps getting better and better! I'm repeating myself, but what amazing and beautiful footage you've captured! No doubt you are making history and putting forth new scientific information. It's all so special! Congrats, Mikey!! ❤ #antloveforever

You’re awesome I love your channel
I consider keeping an colony myself in the future, I'll be buying your handbook before going looking for queens, I might go for a Weaver Queen Ant because I have a lot of plants here in my backyard, I love your videos, it inspires me.
I will be joining you and the AC Family on ant keeping.

I think all 8 queens are fertile
I used to think ants were pointless disgusting bugs but now because of your channel I see ants in a whole new perspective
That makes me love these little dudes! It’s ant love forever!
Ant's being so efficient, it's so weird seeing them struggle to open the larvae pouches and how tedious that process is. Evolution couldn't help them out a bit? lol
This blows my mind simply BEAUTIFUL and INSPIRING.
5:10 if I was being born and I saw mouths with teeth I would be terrified
My heart has fallen to the pit of ant love, and is melting away in happiness…

Really cool, hey check out 10:30 into the video. To the left of the head of the emerging ant, you can see the larvae Mendibles chomping away. Really awesome footage!!
For someone who doesn't like maggots, you've been using that maggot clip a lot.
