My garden brings me so much joy. I'm older and alone, sometimes it's one of few joys. I pray I'm able to continue to feel the dirt, grow my food, plant the flowers and continue to learn for many years to come ❤
Rachel- years ago my husband went hunting and came back with hundreds of ticks on him. We did remove them same day but a year or so later he started having anaphylactic reactions. After blood work it turned out to be alpha gal allergy from a tick. Monitor your symptoms and your mammal consumption. Reactions are usually 6hours after mammal consumption but can be immediate-24hrs later. Many doctors are still in the dark about this especially up north as this is mostly in the southern regions. Just passing this info along to be aware of. Prayers for answers and treatment for you to feel better soon!
My friend also has been diagnosed with alpha gal. Now she reacts to all red meat and products. Possible is also reacting to pork. There are also many medications that have some kind of gelatin ini them. She did have an anaphylactic reaction and ended up in the hospital for 3 days. She is living in the south east. After we talked about it she has had two tick bites that she reacted to in the last 2 years.
Thank you for sharing this update. Please know you are in my prayers, sweet lady! (And yes, there is absolute hope and healing in our gardens, so I look forward to seeing you in it soon.)
I can hear in your voice that you're feeling better ❤ when I was diagnosed with lyme in 2015 I hadn't had a tick on me since I was a kid . From what i was told mold can reactivate dormant lyme in the body and that's why I was having the symptoms and bloodwork came back positive without the bite . It's worth checking out but if your getting better steadily its probably not lyme cause that gets cronic without treatment
I freeze dry all of my pumpkin, blend it into powder and vacuum seal it in jars. No worries about power failures and a lot less space needed. So easy to use for baking, soups, sauces ,noodle making, coffee flavoring, dog treats - so many things!
I just want to add.. I’ve been told that it’s really unknown how long a tick needs to be attached to transmit anything. Tick nymphs can be the size of a needle head.. if one of those bit you would never know. The Lyme disease rash isn’t just the bulls eye rash, it can present multiple different ways. In my experience doctors won’t look in the direction of Lyme unless you really push. If you start doing some deep research on the symptoms Lyme disease can cause it is mind blowing. Praying but just want to put my experience out there in case it could be of any help.
I agree. Please press for a panel of tests ruling out tick borne illnesses. It doesn’t matter if you don’t meet all the criteria; much of it is still unknown. Now is the time for a diagnosis. Not in the future, after damage has been done to your immune system, joints and organs. Bless you and know so many are praying for you…❤️🩹 Kim, RN, 40*yrs.
So glad you are feeing and looking so much better. I am and old nurse (83) and I remember how frustrating it was for a patient I knew back in the 60s, who suffered so much pain all the time. The Drs thought she was just a hypochondriac. I truly believed her and told her one day to keep going to different Drs. And maybe 30 yers later she told me that she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. On a new med and was given a new life. You just keep trying new Drs until you get your right answer! We have been following you from the beginning of you channel and we love it. Will continue prayers for your recovery and for Todd’s strength to stand by you as I know he will. His love for you is evident every time he looks at you. You are a blessed couple.
Man, I don’t know why he wouldn’t want to just run the tests for Lyme to rule it out. Especially as much as you are outside. It’s so much better to catch it sooner rather than later.
Glad to hear your tests are coming back negative. Hope all goes well for you. I totally agree about canned pumpkin; I canned some cushaw and it took forever to remove the water to make a pie. I also freeze dried some so that should work better. I have some pumpkin in my freezer from two years ago too. I had better make something pumpkin soon haha. Take care
The hardest thing is not knowing. Plant your garden and get your hands in the soil. It is so soothing and healing. I look forward to future videos as I learn so much from you. Blessings.
I got very sick a few years ago, similar symptoms to what you have described, and it was just a virus. I saw a gastrointestinalalogist, and after a couple of years, it was still just a virus. They never found out what the virus was. God healed me, and I know He can for you, too. I'm praying for you.
I’m so glad you’re doing better. With such an extreme immune response, seeing a rheumatologist would not hurt. Many AI issues “flare” and can be hard to catch with typical tests even when you’re symptomatic. Lots of good suggestions in the comments (celiac, Lyme etc) and they all point to rheumatology taking a look to be sure there’s nothing laying under the surface. Many of us with AI issues were told you’re fine by lots of primary care docs before someone looked deeper. Wishing you well!
Rachel,if you have a insya pot or rice maker, the spoon that comes w it works great for scooping, either that or those cheap pumpkin scoopers, they actually work really good.😅
I use an icecream scoop with a bit of a sharp edge to scoop squash guts and later the flesh. Its much easier on my hands than a spoon was. Praying for healing for you no matter the cause!
I know a lot of folks are saying Lyme- and I do agree you should continue investigating that path. I also had lupus for many years, and as it is a slippery illness, it was hard to get diagnosed. With your elevated rheumatoid factors, I definitely think it is worth while to check in with a rheumatologist to get some basic panels done. Lupus and other rheumatoid illnesses are often diagnosed as something else until you have several symptoms plus bloodwork. I am sorry you are have been going through this and I send healing thoughts your way.
I want to wish you God's Blessings that all work's out for you, Love your video's. My daughter has Lyme's Disease for several years now, Still treating, never found a tick on herself nor bully's Eye irritation.
I would freeze the pumpkin in qt size freezer bags. 2 cups per pie. I do that with my butternut squash. This year i hope to grow pie pumpkins. Also they stack and take much less freezer space.
So glad to see you and that you seem to have peace with things right now. I LOVE freeze drying my pumpkin purée. I actually made up “instant” pumpkin pies… love it!
I’m so sorry you are going through this!! It took me years to get my autoimmune diagnosis right. I can tell you that during a flare up I would eat just bone broth and beef…. That helped the itching reaction the most! Prayers and good luck on this journey!
I love your channel! One recommendation I have is only use cotton clothing. It will not only help with the current rashes but it is a healthy option for the skin altogether.
Dear Rachel, I HEAR you since I too have had a MYSTERY upset with my health.. we DO share similar symptoms but mine began last July… I DO know we are “Fearfully and WONDERFULLY made “ and I REST in that … Psalms 139 has been committed to my memory and it COMFORTS me daily… 🙏 continuing to uphold you my friend!!!!
I cook my pumpkin and use the hand beater to puree it. I store it in ziplock bags - 2 cups per bag, since that is what most recipes call for - date them, and stack in the freezer. So glad you are looking better! Praying for you.
I watched your “House” video and took notes, then got busy and neglected to comment. I am a retired cardiac nurse and I am glad you have a cardiology consult. I think you should rule out infective endocarditis. Your rash isn’t typical but the other symptoms are consistent with endocarditis. I believe in a balanced approach to western and alternative medicine but I think it is essential to establish a good relationship with a primary care physician who respects your health care philosophy. Early detection and treatment is key to success.
This is the first year that I’ve processed pumpkins. A friend had extras and she was going to throw them out so she called me (I hate food waste and my friends know that I’ll find something to do with unwanted good food). Pumpkin purée is ridiculously expensive in Canada. I did my pumpkins the same as you did and used some in my pumpkin cheesecakes at Christmas. Prayers for you that you can find out what is wrong medically. Love and blessings to you and Todd.
Please keep sharing, my husband also has a mystery illness that flares up. Some similar symptoms, rigors and painful hives. Prayers for healing hands. ❤
I'm glad you are doing a garden, Rachel, and I'm really glad to see your face today! You look much better, much more relaxed, too. I'm glad also to hear that some things seem to slowly be resolving physically for you! We do love you guys, and though we only see a tiny fraction of your lives, we're happy to be included in your life moments. Thank you for catching us up, too!💖💚💙💜💛❤💞💕
Rachel you look so much better today. 🙏 Keeping you in my prayers that it is nothing major with your liver and it was just some type of virus. My daughter was bit by a tick and has what's called Alpha Gal. She cannot eat beef or pork or she is very sick with vomiting, hives and swelling. You got lots of good news but I'm with you, repeated unknowns are frustrating. We are sitting on "ready set go" for starting our seeds! Oh My....I love that seed starter set from Green Stalk!! Thank you for sharing it and the discount. 🙌🫶
It is always hard to live and journey through these kinds of things. As a nurse, and a very verbal advocate for healthcare, I want to support you in trusting yourself in this process. Of course, trusting the provider is great also, but even the most trustworthy and intelligent providers can miss something. No matter what-if things don't seem correct, feel 'off' or what you are told just doesn't seem to make sense to you--keep pushing and/or seek another opinion! Not that I think you should ignore things or talk yourself into not worrying about it because you don't like to go to the doctor. We know ourselves and our bodies best, if it doesn't feel right in your 'gut' or just doesn't sit comfortably-look farther. You don't have to have medical education. You are doing a great job at researching and asking questions and it sounds like your provider is willing to listen and explore options that seem reasonable--keep at it until you have an answer. Prayers for your healing journey and peace of mind.
I had an experience with my Vitamix. It sounded like yours, as if the motor was dying or gears were stripped. It is probably the blender drive socket,a $12.00 part. There are many RUclips videos on how to replace it. The drive has a fail safe, and that part will break so that it protects the motor
Praying your blood work comes back perfect so you can close this chapter. I have had my small Oscar food processors since 1983. He still runs better than anything I have ever owned. I love to stuff my small pumpkins with ground meat, rice and bake them they are sooooo yummy! Hoping you feel better soon....
1. Rachel and Todd, you both are in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this journey with your health and the upcoming gardening season. Your faith and trust in God is the most important thing to focus on during this journey. Psalms 46:10. I know you know this already. 2. I just got a freeze drier this past year, and I think I want to cube my pumpkin, freeze dry it, and then powder it. I could use it as a seasoning, or I could add water to make puree the thickness I need! Do you think this is worth trying? 3. My husband and I raise animals for meat, and raising sheep is one of our favorites! I recommend researching into it and getting a few lambs to raise in the spring! Another great meat source to raise is rabbits, if you enjoy raising chickens. They taste like chicken, healthier meat, and they are soooo much cheaper to raise, easier to maintain and care for, and easier to process! And you can keep a colony to produce your own year round instead of buying and raising every season. We do this along side our meat birds.
Prayer for you and Todd! I have learned soooo, sooo much from you over the years. I credit you with my success in canning and gardening! Prayers for healing and hoping for a bountiful garden!❤🌻
I am so glad to hear that things can be looking on the up and up. When I was much younger I went through a phase that they were finding a bunch of stuff that was all out of wack. We all got scared, they wanted to do a bunch more testing. When I went back, whatever had been going on had corrected, so I am hoping this is what happens when you go back. We missed you on Canuary this last time. Good to see you today. i recently watched your video on freezing pumpkin. I had just canned my first batch of pumpkin, but I thought it looked sad when I was done. I haven't used the pumpkin yet, but I applied what I learned when I watched you bake it and then freeze it. I lost one jar from either filling too full or tightening lid too tight .I baked my other pumpkins, let them cool and then pureed it. Then I carefully put the lids on loosely until frozen. I have a million jars of pumpkin puree. But I listened to what you mentioned about adding it to soups, even chili. I tried it in chili and we loved it. I just added some to my usual rrecipe I use, I didn't change anything, just added it. It wasn't something you could really put your finger in if you didn't know. It did give it a nice texture and flavor, we loved it. Also my daughter just checked out a library book of recipes that are all just lovely. I can't believe how many recipes the auther had included that pureed pumplin could be used. From pumpkin coffee cake, which actually has coffee in it to sauces, etc... There were many sauces for pasta and meats that could easily be tweaked with a little pumplin puree. I am so excited!! My main reason for starting out with this is fo create my own version of a copy cat recipe for the Autumn Harvest pumpkin pasta sauce at Trader Joe's. Also Mary's Nest on RUclips has a great tradional French Pumpkin Soup that pureed pumpkin can be used. She used fresh pumpkin I've made it once and we loved it. And I love the pumpkin cream fresh brew at Starbucks, and I want to make some kind of version of it. I am embarrassed to say how many jars I have waiting to make all this stuff throughout the year, lol. I froze some in ice cube trays to make my coffee drinks. I put some in plastic freezer bags and pressed it flat. When it was geting frozen I broke it apart like peanut brittle so I can get just a small amount out for a small thing, instead of thawing out a whole jar. I had so much fun. All of my pmpkina were pretty sweet, so I made them just plain except for the last one wasn't as sweet, so I added a little bit of sweetener. I had bought a few at the beginning of fall, then toward the end of fall season I found some for 99 cents each. I had to look them up because I thought some of them were ornamental only, but they are good for eating. Then my daughter had big ones on her porch and was going to pitch them to the trash, so I picked them up. And YES< those Cinderella pumpkins have so much meat to them, I got so much puree out of them. They are all so pretty in my freezer. I am so happy to learn this from you. The book I saw many recipes from was something like "Half Baked Harvest Every Day" by Tieghan Gerard. She is so lovely and has her own spin on familiar dishes. I could see me making many of these recipes- many using from my pantry. So I can't wait to experiment this year on all of this pumpkin, lol Thank you for sharing so much. I am so glad things are better now, I hope it continues.
Hang in there woman. I’m praying for you. I’ve had my vitamix for eight years and my mom had it for several years before she gave it to me. I use it everyday, several times a day. I hope it never breaks on me. I always think that is the electronic I use the most in my kitchen!
Specialist apt are critical for the best care. I was like you once, with a confident primary care. Until I had a heart attack at 47 that did so much damage I’m disabled. His reaction was that he couldn’t believe it could happen to me since I worked out a lot and ran 5k’s. Now I don’t trust a confident doctor unless they are a specialist in the area.
Wow! So nice to see you again and with a stronger sound in your voice! Thank you for sharing the pumpkin process. The GreenStalk product looks amazing.
I’ve had a lot of the same symptoms as you have had. Four years ago at the age of 45 my doctor suggested a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. After lots of blood work and my endoscopy I was diagnosed with celiac disease. I know you’re not feeling great but you look great and I’ll keep praying for you. 💞
Rachael you appear as if you feel better and relieved (or you are going at hiding it!!). So glad you are getting answers. I love watching you (and Todd) in your videos and have learned a lot from you! It is wonderful to see how supportive you and your family are of each other as many people don’t have that! I wish you much happiness and continued improved health. Look forward to you sharing more videos as you start feeling better!!
Rachel and Todd. You are in my thoughts daily. I've been watching you both and have learned so much from you both. Sending all the good vibes your way. Onto the pumpkin puree. It's beautiful in the jar, I didn't actually know this could be canned or frozen. What else can you use it for besides pumpkin pies and pumpkin soup? Curious. Thinking of you and thanks for sharing this gem. xoxo
Kevin on "Living tradition homestead" had a very simular sickness from ticks. Even when feeling better he had to take it easy until his energy came back. Who would think such a tiny insect could do so much damage.
You look better today! Sounds like many things have been ruled out but I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to still not gave an answer! Continued prayers for answers and healing❤
Rachel, I hope you find all the answers you have been patiently seeking and your health is soon restored. I know the frustration is so real. Bless you and Todd.❤️🩹 Ps…I am a true Greenstalk fan and as soon as you started showing us your new and fun seed starting kits, I went directly to their site and looked at them over and over!! Then, did my best to justify the expense of buying them. And then of course, after much debate with myself, placed my order! I’ve been pouring over the seed catalogs, so now to make a list….💙🩵🤍
Continued prayers for you and Todd, and thinkng of you daily. Thanks for the latest, Will be checking for your videos and updates,l so hate youre having these troubles.
I had some volunteer pumpkins grow in my front flower bed last year from a pumpkin that obviously fell in my holly bushes they were small and cute for decor, but i wish i had a bigger bed to plant some like you grow.
Happy to hear your update is slowing eliminating scary things. I couldn't justify spending so much on a blender so researched looking for one similar to Vita Mix. I found on Amazon for $109.+ CAD a Vevor. It looks exactly like a Vita Mix and from what I hear about the expensive machine, mine is as good. Has all the same features. You can own it for so much less USD. Our $ is disgustingly low.You could buy 3 or 4 for the price of a Vita Mix and always have a spare!! lol. I pureed my pumpkin this last fall and not in water as chunks. Canned up beautifully and is perfect for my pies. I'm a rebel there. Will be watching for your next test results and praying the Dr is right and you experienced an unknown virus that hopefully will go back where it came from. One thing I wonder with it being the top topic right now is have they checked for Avian bird flu? There was apparently a case with a teenager here in Canada. The person has gone home now so it was curable. Not wishing it on you but just another avenue to check for that is a newer virus. Keep well Rachel. Love & hugs for you and Todd.
My daughter in law broke out in horrible horrible hives that covered her body. And her immune system went to crap. This girl is so active, eats great, bikes, boot camp, dances, pole Dances, sings, etc. This ?? Took her down. It was the hokey pokey in her arm. I think the cdc has info on side effects. Healing prayers. Love your shows. Thank you. ❤
I totally agree with your Ninja assessment!! I have one I’ve had since about 2010 and it’s amazing!! Two sizes of containers, but it’s never failed me!!
I’m glad you’re getting some answers, that should help you feel a little better. I hope you feel better soon. Praying that God gives you the answers you need.
???? You said the symptoms started around November. Am I remembering correctly, your grandbaby had a cold around that time? Did you start a round of homemade remedies at that point in time? Also, when you did come down with a cold and started taking the new remedy, could the new added oregano infused oil be the culprit?
I have several friends/acquaintances with some form of Lyme. Alpha gal is what was diagnosed in his case. He definitely had to limit red meat from his diet. He has slowly added it back to his diet & it seems to be doing good now. Another couple I follow she has Lyme diseases & he has Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. They are doing much better now but made big changes to their diet as well. They were finally diagnosed after consulting a Herbalist that ran tons of tests & recommended a certain diet which they did. I also have personal friends with some form of Lyme. Good luck in your journey to get well.

Thank you for catching us up, too!💖💚💙💜💛❤💞💕
Many prayers for you and your family AND the medical staff that is working diligently to find tho root cause of your health issues! God Bless!
Keeping you in my prayers. So good to see you today!
Definitely prefer canning my own puree as well! Pints and half pints are perfect sizes for different recipes.
I had an experience with my Vitamix. It sounded like yours, as if the motor was dying or gears were stripped. It is probably the blender drive socket,a $12.00 part. There are many RUclips videos on how to replace it. The drive has a fail safe, and that part will break so that it protects the motor
Very grateful that you're feeling better. My husband loved the new green stalk planter so much that he already bought 4 of them.
Rachel, what about creating for celiac? All your symptoms fit the picture. High liver enzymes, rash, etc. can’t hurt!
Thank you, love pumpkin pie, started canning last year, will surely make your recipe.
Rachel I hope all goes well with the test praying for a good report and have a garden it will give you peace and take away the stress!!
I lost one jar from either filling too full or tightening lid too tight
.I baked my other pumpkins, let them cool and then pureed it.
So I can't wait to experiment this year on all of this pumpkin, lol
Thank you for sharing so much. I am so glad things are better now, I hope it continues.
I'm glad you're feeling better. My prayers continue for you. ❤
You have been on mind all week and in our prayers. Wishing you speedy results!
We are so glad that you are feeling better.
Wow! So nice to see you again and with a stronger sound in your voice! Thank you for sharing the pumpkin process. The GreenStalk product looks amazing.
My mom bought me the greenstalk seed starting kit for Christmas. I love it! It’s nicely made and I think it will last me the rest of my life.
That’s a really cool gift.
Curious. Thinking of you and thanks for sharing this gem. xoxo
A jar flat (lid) makes taking the seeds out of squash so much easier. I’ll never use a spoon again.
I love the Ninja products! That little Ninja gets used so often in my house. I've had one over 20 years. Still praying for results. Thanks for update.
Rachel Love and Prayers ❤️🙏
Kevin on "Living tradition homestead" had a very simular sickness from ticks. Even when feeling better he had to take it easy until his energy came back.
Who would think such a tiny insect could do so much damage.
Yes! I was thinking of his exact situation.
I love Canuary and I love your videos. You teach me so much. I can’t wait to add this to my pantry.
Continued prayers for answers and comfort!
We will just keep you in our prayers until you are all better. Thank you for the recipe!
You look better today! Sounds like many things have been ruled out but I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to still not gave an answer! Continued prayers for answers and healing❤
I'm continuing my most positive vibes into the universe for you, Rachel. I'm so glad I found your channel.
Be well lady. Prayers your way!
continued prayers my friend God will get you thru this no matter what
Rachel, I hope you find all the answers you have been patiently seeking and your health is soon restored. I know the frustration is so real. Bless you and Todd.❤️🩹
Ps…I am a true Greenstalk fan and as soon as you started showing us your new and fun seed starting kits, I went directly to their site and looked at them over and over!! Then, did my best to justify the expense of buying them. And then of course, after much debate with myself, placed my order! I’ve been pouring over the seed catalogs, so now to make a list….💙🩵🤍
You are such a breath of fresh air when it comes to every day life I’m so glad I found you 😊
Thank you for sharing take care ❤❤❤
Continued prayers for you and Todd, and thinkng of you daily. Thanks for the latest,
Will be checking for your videos and updates,l so hate youre having these troubles.
Truly wishing you the best! 💖 I can only imagine the frustration and anxiety of uncertainty. Hoping for positive answers soon!🪴
Glad your scans were normal, I will continue to pray for you.
Still thinking about and praying for you, Mrs. Rachel.
Still believing
Still trusting
My daughter in law broke out in horrible horrible hives that covered her body. And her immune system went to crap. This girl is so active, eats great, bikes, boot camp, dances, pole Dances, sings, etc. This ?? Took her down. It was the hokey pokey in her arm. I think the cdc has info on side effects. Healing prayers. Love your shows. Thank you. ❤
I wish you a speedy recovery and God Bless for good health
Will continue to pray for you
You're looking better. I hope you can find the answer. :)
Racheal tray a regular canning lids to scrap out inside. Continued Prayers for your healing!
I pray you’re feeling better
I totally agree with your Ninja assessment!! I have one I’ve had since about 2010 and it’s amazing!! Two sizes of containers, but it’s never failed me!!
It is nice to see you again and your smile. I am sending lots of positive energy your way and wish you all the best.
Praying you get some answers and can get back to 100% 🙏🏻
Can I ask what brand/type of pants you’re wearing in the video? They look super comfy!
Continued prayers for health ❤
Continued prayers 🙏 for the best outcome
I’m glad you’re getting some answers, that should help you feel a little better. I hope you feel better soon. Praying that God gives you the answers you need.
Oh good I was eager to see how you were feeling. Back to the video.
Glad to see you back. Best of luck to you.
????
You said the symptoms started around November. Am I remembering correctly, your grandbaby had a cold around that time? Did you start a round of homemade remedies at that point in time? Also, when you did come down with a cold and started taking the new remedy, could the new added oregano infused oil be the culprit?
Prayers for a complete healing 🙏🏼
I have several friends/acquaintances with some form of Lyme. Alpha gal is what was diagnosed in his case. He definitely had to limit red meat from his diet. He has slowly added it back to his diet & it seems to be doing good now. Another couple I follow she has Lyme diseases & he has Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. They are doing much better now but made big changes to their diet as well. They were finally diagnosed after consulting a Herbalist that ran tons of tests & recommended a certain diet which they did. I also have personal friends with some form of Lyme. Good luck in your journey to get well.
Prayers going out🙏 The wait game is sometimes the hardest.
Continuing to pray for answers & healing for you Rachel.
Hubby had lyme diseas pretty bad. He never saw the tick or a rash… lyme ticks are tiny and can be in your hair.
Praying you find answers and everything turns out okay. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Important to note that jars without "shoulders" are best for freezing 😊
