Dude was like 23 when he got drafted. No upside at that age and just plateaued in college. Also I thought it was a weak draft for him to be drafted so high
I remember when he got drafted, I said on twitter that his ceiling was backup point guard and Baylor fans were on my ass. If I was still on there, I would go find them.
@gilmoriarty1415 Fox He can't do it by himself They sent in the west at ten If you think the king's going to go Sacramento You Out of your mind Y be ten , you could be five in west or number one in the west The kings needed his game and And they took mitchell for granted Because they are one dimensional right now And that's not going to get you nowhere You going to a Second round team The way to west looking right now!!! All probably going home in the first round And Fox a great player Every great play I need a robin And mitchell he would have growed into the one Because he's a great player A big time Mistake from Sacramento And you fire one of great head coaches in the league Sacramento don't know what the fuck they do man 🚫💯😒
@@JamesAnderson-bi9qi You gotta be drunk, Doug Christie is 11-4, Mike Brown was 13-18 when he got fired. Davion Mitchell is nobody's robin, he's a non-factor on offense that everyone fell for because he shot well for literally 1 year in his life. He shot 28% and 32% from 3 the other two seasons he played in college, and he's shot 31%, 32%, 36%, and 33% in the NBA. He just can't shoot, he's not explosive enough to live in the paint, and he's a mediocre playmaker. If you like him, you like him, but there's no actual reason to believe in him. Saying Fox needs a Robin is hilarious too, Fox is the Robin, Sabonis is Batman on that team, that's why Fox is on the trade block.
Shorter player with really good defensive capabilities but lackluster on the offensive end. It’s the same reaccruing theme, if you can’t shoot consistently you’ll be stagnant or pushed out of the league especially at his size. Personally I believe he was doomed to fail the moment the kings got him. They already had Fox and Halliburton so why would they pick another short guard. Sure he could pair with them but he’d have to be a focus of development which it was obvious he wasn’t.
@@T-Add Sometimes i wonder if he would have been able to overcome this in a better developmental organization. Since in college he showed that he could get better each year when given time. But maybe that's just wishful thinking on my end.
@@aisosaobano7038 I wonder too. He was a bowling ball in college playing downhill and bullying his way in the lane. So that wouldn't have translated in the NBA. But he shot 45 and 37% in his college career. He shot 45% from 3 his last year at Baylor on almost 5 attempts. The guy was a decent outside shooter. I wonder if the Kings' poor development killed his confidence.
@@T-AddI mean tbh it translated a little at the start, he was getting comparisons to donavon Mitchell not just by name, I’d say it’s more so the roster construction, his bowling ball game isn’t suited for that roster and their preferences
I feel like this video is reaching! Mitchell was never projected to be this high level scoring type of player! clearly in college his defense came first! And he got traded because it’s the dumb ass Sacramento Kings!! lol that’s why they getting ready to trade Fox! They have no clue what they doing. Don’t blame it on Mitchell. Smh🤦🏾♂️
Mitchell was about 15 years too late. No more can you be Andre Roberson, Tony Allen or Eric Snow. They won’t even guard you anymore. Also with the way defenses switch a lot of things. It’s easy for an offensive player to get a weaker defender to switch on to him. A pure defender is almost useless in today’s NBA especially on the perimeter.
Thing is all of those players you named are 6’4-6’7 Mitchell is 6’0 CLEAN. He would’ve had a rough case even back then, only person even close was Avery Bradley, and he could shoot better
@ Lol Anthony Carter is the only one I can think off the top of my head. My point is perimeter players have to be able to shoot nowadays. Even Rondo wouldn’t be ideal for this era but his elite defense, playmaking and rebounding would cancel that out.
Undersized gaurds will always struggle in the NBA unless they are great shooters or scoring machines. For example Isaiah Thomas was a 5'9 undersized gaurd but he was good because he was a scoring machine. Allen iverson is another example, scoring machine. Payton Pritchard is undersized but he is a great shooter. If you are undersized you can't be average. You already have a chip on your shoulder so being average is not good enough. If you are a gaurd under 6'2, you gotta be above average to last.
Yea if you’re an undersized guard you would have to be someone that would be a top 10 player if they were 6’5☠️ and if you’re actually a top 10 level player like Allen iverson even better
@ Facts. Even Patrick Beverley is undersized but he had a good career because he was an above average defender. If Beverly was a below average or average defender he would’ve never lasted in the NBA.
His jump shot never developed and Mike Brown is a trash coach. He also has small arms so he would get bullied by bigger guys. And his instincts are so great that he depended on beating his man to the spot and refs simply don’t call charging calls as often as blocking. Bad luck.
Kings one of those franchises you want to see be successful just off that great fan base that have games jumping like a college crowd but the organization never seem to put the right pieces together n been on a string of bad luck since breaking up the Chris Weber gang. Now they ready to ship out Fox n somewhat start over again unless they get back a return for him right away n not just draft stock. Be funny if they go after Jimmy Butler
Dude is playing like a younger OG but is a point guard. He's no bust man. There are certain players that impact doesn't appear in the stats. Sort of like PJ Tucker in his prime.
We love Mitchell in Toronto. He’s a monster on defence.

They discovered after a couple years he's not Donovan Mitchell 😂
Wait what??
@@michaelsimmons2745They have similar names
He play 🔐. Big fan. Since Baylor
I feel like they let go mitchell prematurely
A 6ft defensive specialist that can't shoot just isn't a real thing, that doesn't exist in the NBA.
Great point..@@gilmoriarty1415
they found Keon Ellis, Keon Ellis is Mitchell but with all the flaws removed

Built like a NFL safety
He can be a great 3 and D player just needs to make open 3s at a solid clip

Hes still decent for the raptors lol i feel like these videos make players seem like failures
Dude has turned around the Raptors season
Here 10 min after the trade to Miami
Nothing man he’s right where he belongs . Pat Bev type role
Lakers need him
He not good on 2k either. Very slow in the game. Idk why my kingd drafted him. Wasted pick.
Homie this video is not gonna age well he’s found his home now Lowry 2.0
He's averaging 6 PPG and 4 assists. Maybe 37 yrs old Lowry
@ defensively brother my bad I wasn’t specific
Great show. Now Do his former Baylor teammate. Jared Butler
Stunt #1 being drafted by the Kings
He killed the kings early this year I was at the game he is special
Sac. dealt him for a bag of chips. They must have known something about him..
His backcourt mate Flagler has his growth being stunted as well
He seems to be OG but a point guard version
Davion Mitchell got sent to Toronto expeditiously
He starts for the raptors now😮
Crazy story i ran into him in the rec on 2k like 2 months ago n streaked up w him he’s a pretty cool dude he’s better irl tho 🤣
Pound for pound the best defender in the league still , lakers could really use him
Nah thats Herb Jones
