  • The first pickups made by Bartolini in the 1970's when the company first started in 1973. These were the experimental multi-coil pickups, quadraphonic in the case of a four string bass where individual coils were wound for each string. Session musicians and popular artists were the first to be introduced to these first generation of Bartolinis.
    Some musicians had Bartolini attach individual outs from each coil to send the signal of each string to a separate amp or track.
    HI-A means "high aperture" which senses a wider field of the string area. These were considered "high fidelity" in the 1970's where the pickup was designed to add little coloration to the guitar's sound to capture the natural sound of the guitar.
    These are no longer produced and were last made until the late 1970's.
