I remember looking at toys I wanted in the Sears Roebuck Christmas catalog when in came out, most I didn't get, but it was exciting to look at all those toys in the catalog anyway.
It is fun to be able to look back and see how folks celebrated Christmas over sixty years ago, many fond memories of Christmas and the people we celebrated with.
I remember those days. I miss them. My fav photo here...the little girl in the rocker with a babydoll. Thats all you needed for happiness from Santa. Lol.🎄❄☃️🕊⛄🎉
I do,we got like 6 new ones every year. How about the white plastic ice icicles with the hook to hang on the tree, my mom loved them. And the lead tinsel that I got smacked for tasting once
I was born in 1947, and I can absolutely testify how totally super great the 50's Christmases were. Far beyond anything in those as PC world we have today.....!!!
It was a great time. We had our "plague" back then too. Polio. It was not the end of the world either. And we could play with guns too, both toy and real and not be insulted. My D.O.B. 21 November 1950.
I was born in 2000 so I obviously never experienced this, but there's just something about the music and the 50s Christmas aesthetic in general that makes me feel warm and cozy. It feels very "at home."
Born in the 40s what a time. The drawings people did then had much more detail so different now. Wonderful memories. Shame so much has changed. Progress?
I love for kids today see how hard it was back then they have got it made where parents just hand over money to get rid of.them couldn't do it back then in the 50s. I am a 53 baby which makes me 68. In January. 8 th
I was born two days before Christmas in 1951, my mother was born one day before Christmas in 1919. When I was in my 20s, I had a long-time boyfriend who was born two days after Christmas in 1941.
Friends family had a white fake tree, and they also had this three color revolving disc light shining up on that tree,Red,green amber. I never understood it..Still don't. But I can not forget it. The dad was my dads police partner. We always had real Scotch Pine. My mom bought one fake tree,(1964) my dad paid me money to lose it.
The color wheel is because the tree is metal, so you can’t string electric lights on it (it would be dangerous. Fire hazard/electrocution hazard). So, they came out the the “color wheel” and that makes the silver “needles” sparkle as it shines on them. Pretty cool idea! It isn’t too common anymore... It was more of just a way of the consumer saying “I’m more modern” and for the Business to say, “Get this, it’s the best new thing!” It was more of a fad...
@@NickG123 thanks much for explaining it,never knew why they used that wheel. Lights in the 50/60's could be exciting for the wrong reasons. Neighbors had a tree catch fire either 59 or 60, except to the tree no damage done..We used a bigger bulb back then, same size you put in fake candles. All my Italian friends family's used white tree lights, us Irish used color.
The 3rd slide in shows an aluminum tree, which is 50s accurate, but the dude in the chair has velcro strap sneakers on, which didn't appear until somewhere in the 80s!
wow, some of these songs, especially the chipmunks, certainly bring back memories, of christmas long ago, the games might be old but not forgotten, some of them, should come back, we are overrun by technology now. For some of us, this is to confusing and best left alone to the young ones.

It was better then than now no thought of Covid virus back then who knew what was to come.
Who remembers the cute figural candles of Santas and Christmas trees. They were too cute to burn.
