Remember that Illidan was a boss we had to fight at one point. They left you on a cliffhanger, that portal that opened up goes to Quel'Danas, an island housing Burning Crusade's final raid and by far its hardest bosses: The Sunwell Plateau. Most of the voice-overs in these trailers are lines from the very many bosses in these raids.

    3:03: “I like the music”
The music used is called Dust and Light by Twelve Titans Music. It was featured in the final Hobbit film trailer and is a criminally underrated piece of epic orchestration. I’ve used it myself in my own ROTK trailer.

The timeline in this is a fair bit earlier than you're familiar with, particularly the Black Temple stuff with Illidan. Burning Crusade was the first expansion to vanilla World of Warcraft, and this was when Illidan was WELL within his phase as a heavy-hitter legendary villain. He wouldn't become a bit of an anti-hero until MUCH later, like 5 expansions away or something like that. Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria, and Warlords of Draenor all happened in between Illidan's fall at the Black Temple and his eventual return at the beginning of Legion.
So for most players at this time, storming the Black Temple and ascending your way through it to ultimately find Illidan waiting for you at its peak was...well, in a word: "epic". Though Illidan is not QUITE as "ultimate evil", this was like leading an army into Mordor and confronting Sauron face-to-face...crazier even, since you had to work your way through the entirety of the massive Outlands to even get to the zone where the Black Temple stands. A lot of the different areas shown in Hellfire and Black Temple were all part of the months-long campaign to eventually find your way TO Illidan.
I wasn't even around for the expansion, just played it myself solo when I finally picked up the game like 5 expansions in...and I can still imagine how it must have felt to be there during its release. Glory days of WoW indeed. :)

    • @UltimateGamerCC
      @UltimateGamerCC 2 года назад +2

i never saw Illidan as a villain, that was simply how he was portrayed, anyone playing WC3 knew that he was doing what he felt he had to do, including becoming a demon to save Tyrande, had he not done so, it's likely that the Legion would've won and she would've perished.

    • @ericmartin8870
      @ericmartin8870 2 года назад +1

@@UltimateGamerCC Absolutely, and it even was made more clear to a general audience during Legion when we dove into his backstory and justifications.
He was kind of a "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions" kind of character. Did things that "heroes" don't do, to try to make the difference he felt was needed.
I only call the pre-Legion era his "villain phase" because of how he was clearly painted as at the very least an antagonist, someone who went too far and had to be stopped. It's just how he was portrayed, as you said.
Illidan has always been far more complicated than just surface level, and I was a WC3 vet far before I looked into anything WoW so I get where you're coming from exactly. I'm just trying to clarify for Ken and Bethany that these videos come from a time when Illidan was decidedly NOT considered a hero.
This was the sort of time frame when people would say "Yeah! Illidan!" in a lot the same kind of spirit as "Yeah! Darth Vader!" Because he's awesome and you love to see him do his thing, not because he's here to save the day and everything will be alright now lol.

To the question about the time line. The videos are in order the content came out but it is from endgame content in the original wow and up to the 3rd raid in the first expansion which is Burning Crusade. The last trailer was teasing Sunwell Plateau. Sunwell was the last endgame content added before the pre-expansion patch.
This is the time line the these raids were added to the original game (because there are classic servers since 2019 to relive all that): july 2005 Black Wing Lair, January 2006 Ahn'Qiraj, June 2006, May 2007 Black Temple.
Most of the scenes in the video would be made in a machinima program. So you had to export the 3D asests from the game, rig and animate. So there is a lot of work in this stuff. There might be in game scenes used for this but i couldnt tell for sure.
I think you are still missing the Leeroy Jenkins lore.

All of these raids are from the base game and the 1st expansion 'The Burning Crusade.'. Starting with the base game, it is, Raid (Final Boss) - Molten Core (Ragnaros), Blackwing Lair (Nefarion), Ahn'Qiraj (C'thun), Naxxramas (Kel'thuzad). There was also Zul'Gurub in the base game but it wasn't shown in the video. The Burning Crusade raids are Magtheridon's Lair (Magtheridon), Gruul's Lair (Gruul the Dragonkiller), Serpentshrine Cavern (Lady Vashj), Black Temple (Illidan), and Sunwell Plateau, which was in the Isle of Quel'danas beyond that portal everyone looked at at the end of the trailer.

For more details of who and why.
Ragnaros - Fire lord of this planet accidentally summoned to this relm by Darkiron Dwarfs. Ragnaros was imprisoned cause he got captured and corrupted by old gods.
Nefarion - elder son of deathwing, disguise in human form doing experiment on creating hybrid dragons.
C'thun - is the first ever old god able to escape from his prison, and horde and alliance join forces to stop him.
Kelthuzad - one of biggest lore figures, and battle of naxxramas was one of key events in lore. Kelthuzad was a curious mage, one of first to join lichking willingly. Battle of Naxxramas is huge part of the story Ashbringer.
Magtheridon - a demonlord in charge of destroyed Draenor now called outland. Defeated by Ilidian and imprisoned to use his blood as a boost to illidian's army. We kill him to weaken Illidian.
Gruul - once a famous giant now driven to madness.
Lady Vashj - hand maiden of Queen Ashara, send to Illidian and became his most loyal follower. Plays huge role in various expansions, and also in Shadowland as she died in burning crusade.
      Illidian - no need explanation.

  • @Ferdawoon
    @Ferdawoon 2 года назад +2

The videos are all showing off the various patches and the raids in the base game from 2004 followed by The Burning Crusade. Molten Core with the Fire Lord Ragnaros (the big fire-mace), Blackwin Lair with the black dragon Nefarian as the final boss, the Old God C'thun and its minions of bug-people with Ahn Qiraj. After that we entered the Outland where we saw the various zones, followed by playings facing off against Lady Vashj (Handmaiden to Azshara, the lady you saw in a Warbringers episode as she got turned into a Lizard-squid), Kael'thas Sunstrider (Blood elf) and finally against Illidan in the Black Temple.
As everyone is tired after defeating Illidan, we see the Portal open to the next raid, The Sunwell. After the Sunwell we would have seen the Wrath of the Lich king expansion (the video of Arthas raising the ice dragon). So this is the very beginning of the WoW timeline (muuuch more story has taken place before WoW though).
So all the short orcs and humans and trolls fighting the bosses in the raids, with the voice overs being lines said by those bosses. There are many bosses i a raid so it's just a few seconds from each encounter. The "players" in the clip are dressed in gear sets that we loot from the bosses (nerds can recognize famous staffs and shields and other parts).
In the Naxxramas clip you can see they are all white and transparent which ment the raid wiped, they all died, and had to go in to try again (just like regular players). The reference again during the Black Temple video makes it more obvious with the "Press to releave"-button and loadingscreen =)
I wish the earlier clips he made are as long as detailed as the later ones! Some cool fights and scenes there!
EDIT: The dragon you saw dead early on in the videos is actually a child of Deathwing. While Deathwing was still below ground being corrupted by the Old Gods, his children were up and about and causing massive political trouble for the Humans.

He had Onyxia and Nefarian. They were proper masters of political intrigues and manipulation and Onyxia was responsible for the upbringing of Anduin as a child. So things could have gone really bad!.

THis is a pretty good summary of the various Raids of WoW through the expansions and the years.
I do like that the player base is shown as a unending and unrelenting Blight ;p, it...accurate...
For those curious Raids are 25-40man instanced Dungeons, with usually between 6 to 12 Bosses and multiple areas to clear.
Raids are not only challenges for any group of people, but also the source of the best items and equipement that the game as to offer.
Raids are deeply tied to the story and themes of the Expansion that is currently live at the time.
AS the level cap got higher, lower level Raids could be trivialised after a point, but they still are a huge chunk of the game's Endgame.

All the raids shown here are vanilla to BC era raids, level 60 and 70 content. There are tons of embellishments that Hurricane animated, like the chains dropping that rock into the lava, that rock never fell like that in the actual game and is still there even in current time as it has the meeting stone to summon other players to do the raids and dungeons there. A lot of the animations of the raids or parts of them exploding are more symbolic of us as the players forming raid groups of 20/25/40 players and "crushing " those raids. About the dragon, his name is Nefarian and he is the son of Neltharion who you might know as Deathwing. He is also the brother of Onyxia of you are familiar with her. He was kind of the main boss in original WoW for a while until patches brought out Ahn'qiraj (pronounced "on-keer-oj" and the Old God C'thun as a 40 man raid boss.

World of Warcraft had just started. It had been about a year, and these were the first three raid 'tiers'. Molten Core vs Ragnaros, Blackwing Lair vs Onyxia / Nefarion, and Naxxramas vs Kel'thuzad. Ahn'Qiraj was an interlude between tiers 2 and 3, but once Naxxramas's whole experience got moved out during Wrath of the Lich King, Ahn'Qiraj became Classic's final raid.
I did not see a Karazhan trailer, but Karazhan, Magtheridon's lair and Gruul's Lair were the 4th tier, during The Burning Crusade's endgame. It was followed by the completion of Lady Vashj and Kael'thas Sunstrider's stories in tier 5 with the cavernous Serpentshrine Cavern and the Tempest Keep Naaru ships. Tier 6 featured another unseen raid (Time travel to Hyjal Summit to fight Archimonde) but Black Temple vs Illidan, and Sunwell Plateau vs Kil'jaeden were the other Tier 6 raids.
Yeah I never got to play it, but the original Naxxramas was SO difficult that they had to introduce another raid before it in order to properly prepare and gear up players before they can tackle the necropolis itself. Correct me if I'm wrong.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Yup that's how the expansions go. You go through the 'main story' of the expansion, gathering the meat of the plot, then conclude it by doing dungeons. Said dungeons ultimately tie in together and you go finish off the main villains in their raids. Each expansion works like that except Classic, to an extend. Most of Classic's story was 'discover Azeroth!' with the first 2-3 raids being essentially the closest to a big endgame story in spite of having enormous dungeons. Every expansion after this distilled a formula to simplify things, starting with Cataclysm.
Classic: Explore Azeroth. Its world is open.
Burning Crusade: Oh, so is the orc homeworld.
Wrath of the Lich King: Let's go chill up north with Arthas
Cataclysm: Cultists are conquering the world or something HEY LOOK A BIG DRAGON
Mists of Pandaria: Our boat bumped onto pandaland
Warlords of Draenor: Garrosh goes all "What if" with time travel
      Legion: Ok, demons.
Battle for Azeroth: Is there something else in the 'things from early Warcraft we haven't put in WoW; bucket? Yeah? Ok. N'zoth and Nagas and 4th war
      Shadowlands: Sylvanas
Dragonflight: "The game will finally be as interesting as its cinematics, we promise!"

Now with the release of Wrath of the Lich King Classic (same old game from long ago, in large parts as it was back then for those that want to re-live that experience) Blizzard also released some trailers and Lore-recaps.
They released a trailer of the Lich King sending the Undead to attack the Alliance and Horde, followed by players taking up arms and mobilizing to go to Northrend, the continent where the Lich king sits. It shows sections of each zone of the continent and glimpses of the story playing out there, along with the first round of bosses we will be facing.
They also released a short (duration 3:50) Lore recap (not made by Hurricane) of what led up to Arthas becoming the Lich King, narrated by Jaina.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Not sure if there is any videos that could show the atmosphere of Naxx, but they did a really good job with it.
Example, there is a set of bosses which are basically the 4 horsemen. 1 of them is connected to the holy light still which is abnormal for undead yet he tries to fight the control & warn everyone to run away.
There is another boss whom was in the video, he is a giant stitched together from hundreds if not thousands of corpses & in the back ground you can hear all the souls wailing & crying for help.

These trailers are machinima, meaning they use game assets -scenes and models as they are in the game. He had to come up with the choreography for all the characters, though, cause those are supposed to represent all of the players. Blizzard cinematics don't do that, especially not with multiple player characters (full raids, in this case). The animations, and the voice lines of the bosses are vanilla. The paths that the player characters take are his.

Its not Hurricane, but please react to Secrets of Ulduar Remastered. It happened during Wrath of the Lich King, but they used the updated models, it still holds up imo. There is a 'movie' that features the raid's content, but it isnt in HD.

In that giant floating pyramid (Naxxramus) there is a boss named Thaddius he is considered one the most horrific bosses in Warcraft and possibly any game EVER because Thaddius is made with the flesh of a innocent *women and children* ....that right and you can hear their screams and pleads to be saved throughout the fight. That fight was a tough fight to stomach.

Illidan cant really die since he has an Immortal Demon Soul the only place where he can be killed is in the Twisting Nether (the realm where all Demon "souls" go when their body is killed)
where he will stay until he can get a suitable "host body" if his original body is destroyed.
    If i remember it correctly...
Ps. would highly recommend checking out WARCRAFT | Reign of Chaos - Season 1 (EN) by JoseBV

ah some raids were more iconic than others but i have yet to find a raid that wasnt wonderfully done.
Ahn Quiraji was the creepiest by far you constantly had whispers in your ear like "you will die" "give up" and stuff like that XD
Naxramas had the potentially best "scaling" boss in the game cause he got a mechanic (the "dance") that can oneshot players on any level if you mess up. And you need to spend some time learning the pattern and memorising the movement. Or you cheapshot it like me and iceblock XD
Black temple houses one of the most iconic characters in illidan and the only brothel / harem in WoW XD
and definitively react to Ulduar the movie - best raiding experience youll get without raiding in one of the best raids of them all

Unrelated to these videos but i would love to see your reaction to Lore W****s, [The Seven Kingdoms: Part 1 - Warcraft Lore] video, problematic name but i guess you could just say by Lore or Lore "door" XD if not maybe patreon exclusive, anyway those videos are awesome for insight in to the humans lore in world of warcraft! =)

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames His channel is great though i would probably only recommend about four videos as most of the content is about the lore of different areas that players visit which might be to much, so i would recommend The Seven Kingdoms part 1 and 2, together they are under 20 minutes. I would say their vibe is somewhat that of Bricky's Warhammer 40K videos that you reacted to but for World of Warcraft Lore/History talking about (you guessed it) The Seven Kingdoms of Humans. The other two are the stories about Illidan, Mograine and the Ashbringer. Illidan's video is slightly outdated but awesome anyway.
