One of the most complicated yet coolest guitar riffs I ever see. Created by The Petrucci, when Kevin Moore was still there. Incredible duos! Btw, amazing cover, Dud!
This is a common issue on players that never wanted to play the rhythm guitar and always wanted to be the solo guy. Playing rhythm is a science, if done well
+danniejuge1 I play solos as well, but I enjoy playing rythim much more, a good riff has all you need in a song. Solos are awesome as well but not essential
That is correct. Good riffs are basically the base of every amazing song. Solos elevate the amazing to something beyond, but cannot stand by themselves. Every musician should learn to play rhythm first to learn about tempos and melody, then master their skills with solos.
+Joey696 he's also playing off of memorization of the tempos and music, that's why you never see him moving anything when the sound changes, it's going into AXE FX without any backing track
Yes! You nailed the middle part (4-5 min mark) to me the hardest part of the song. I once played just that section mixed with some parts from "Home" and won a local contest. Awesome job! - Biloxi, MS USA
Great playing, but dear lord what a gnarly rig you have. An H3000, 2 (!) 2290's and a Lexicon unit, as well as that rad JP Ibanez guitar and the Mark V. Properly pro-spec that is.
I don't understand the thumbs down business. This a very dedicated musician but what if he missed notes or was very green. Our friend here is not but even so, encourage not put anyone down. I have played 50 years and I can't do what he does and with grace. Keep it coming. The older videos are spot on as the new ones. Thanks my friend.
Great playing! In a few years this kid is going to be a monster. You're building some great chops, and with time and practice you'll develop some killer vibrato and feel. You're miles ahead of where I was when I was your age.
What are you talking about? He's miles ahead of where you're at now. I watched some of your channel, looks like you're needing a bit more time to develop some "killer vibrato and feel" yourself. There's always some self-proclaimed expert giving passive critique under the guise of complimenting. Keep up the guitar playing though, you'll be moderately decent some day.
I said what I said to the kid as a compliment. He's very young and is already very advanced, just imagine where he will be in a couple years. As far as your comments towards my own playing, I checked out some of your videos too....I wasn't impressed.
Yeah your "compliment" was a passive criticism and implies that you as the "expert" deem that he needs to more time to really develop. Your "better than I was at that age" implies that while he is good for his age he's not as good as you are now which is why I replied. Sorry, but if he is nailing DT solos he's just a tad more technically skilled than you are. On to my videos, I'm not a self-proclaimed critic, talking smack on better guitar players and putting "shred guitar" in my name, I'm a full time grad student that so happens to like playing guitar when I get the chance, which isn't often, look at when I last posted a vid. It was years ago. I do like covering DT solos to improve my playing and I liked this vid because I thought he nailed it. I know where my playing level is at, and I know where yours is. Do I care if you are impressed? Not even a little bit, but the feeling is mutual.
He is great for any age, but that goes without saying. All I meant in my initial statement was that I hope he keeps practicing because he has the potential to be something truly amazing. Being this good at that young is an amazing thing, and is something that doesn't happen every day. That is why my initial comment mentioned his age. Lots of people can practice their whole life and do this, but at that age? That takes natural ability, which is something you cannot teach. Your personal insults are uncalled for.
Having a good rig is only one step. The other steps, are to know how to get a good tone from all those racks individually, and together in a chain. But i this video, particularly, it looks like he's only using the Mesa Mark V. The Mark V is a great amp, but to get closer to the Images tone, you would have to use a Mesa Quad Pre-amp with a 2:95 Power Amp.
Effing incredible. This is a perfectly performed cover!
0:42 - 0:43 such a sweet riff
7:06 - 7:15 absolutely perfect transition
7:06 absolutely fake transition...
Metalshaper95 lol absolutely XD
@@Metalshaper95 why?
@@Metalshaper95 he probably did a few more takes on the ending that he kept in, besides the one recorded in this video, but i don't think it's fake
7:07 , the bottle neck part, was amazing, like the whole music. If I was Mr. Petrucci, I'd be very proud, about it!
That guitar sound wonderful.
And God said... 'Let there be 'SungHyun Kim'... and there was 'SungHyun Kim' and he saw it was good...V good !!!
Yeah, I mean JP = God, so...
john putting all styles of music in one genre, funk, rock ,heavy metal. u name it man. one talented guitarist of this century
One of the most complicated yet coolest guitar riffs I ever see. Created by The Petrucci, when Kevin Moore was still there. Incredible duos!
Btw, amazing cover, Dud!
probably the most accurate cover i've heard as tonal similarity. very nice
From 4:36 - 5:20 that's my favorite part. Hr nailed it! 😳
Still wondering how is it possible that he plays those sick parts so accurately and can't follow the tempo on the easiest ones. You kiddin' me!?

It s my favorite part of the song. After hearing that, it played several times in my head. Very addicting lol

Killer tone, excellent technique, (almost) spotless !!
Congrats man, this is very serious playing !
Beautifully executed. I admire the dedication it took to learn this.

8:12 is supposed to switch to quadruplets, but other than that one tiny detail... this is the best cover I've ever seen
the sound of your setup is godly amazing man
몇번을 봤지만 진짜 텤더탐 최고의 커버영상이다
IBANEZ MEETS THE MESA BOOGIE MARK V - GREAT JOB!!! SOUNDS AMAZING! (i like the mark v more than the jp2c, and i like the ibanez more the music man)
best covering i've ever seen!
God, I miss that guitar. Well done my friend
This song is my first time playing your RUclips chanel and I always love it until know 🙌
Flawless! Perfect! Amazing! I am almost speechless!
asli mirip sama asli nya, kamu berbakat jadi murid jhon petrucci, hhe, kasi jempol dua tangan
Less cover, more own works, don't let the music die!
7:14 bruh the way he just drops the slide makes this cover just so much better lol. great cover tho

Ignoring his abilities and skipping straight to gear talk, huh?
