BEAUTIFUL!! What a change!!! My only suggestion...where she had the shredder, turn it a coffee/tea bar. That way she would have even less cluttered countertops and a nice spot to prepare her coffee/tea. But WOW! She's so lucky to have you!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Such a good job. So much easier for her to manage and use her space. The only thing is my nurse self is needing to say that rug is a trip hazard. My 19 yo granddaughter makes the clutter, not cleans it up. I love having her around but she is not near me. I would love her clutter more often!🌻🌷🦋
I was wondering if that rug was a good idea too. You can buy more solid memory foam type mats that are very comfortable to stand on and have no risk of them slipping or corners flipping. I think for a senior that would be a better idea. Don't know if there is a Costco there but I'm sure Amazon has them too.
As I get older I'm acquiring much less things and adhering to 'one thing in, one thing out'. I can't think or breathe in this kind of clutter. You are so blessed to have each other.
I LOVE Nan's kitchen. The orange tile, the green wall, the white cabinets and the butcher block counters?? It's seriously like my dream kitchen haha. Beautiful!!

This reminds me soo much of what I do for my grandma when I visit her. She's in California. That's home for me, but I live in georgia now(*in the 🇺🇸) I miss my grandma so much. This was very rewarding to watch and so very relatable. I did a quick clean at my mom's kitchen while she was at the hospital;there is still a big project awaiting. The kitchen looks very cheerful now. 👏
You should get a stacking plate organizer. It holds dinner plates on the bottom, smaller plates in the middle, and bowls on the top shelf like that it will be easier take them out without having to move things around and it frees up room.

I love this refresh! It's so nice that you did something else for your nan, but mostly how you did it. You made everything nice and clean and accessible, but you didn't force the fashionable "everything needs to be put away" mantra - because clearly that's not your nan. Her original setup, if a bit impractical, showed that she likes to have a lot of things out and on hand - and you kept some of that and still made it pretty and clean and functional. Love it.
Last week and this week I’m working on decluttering crafting items, clothes and house linens, as well as cleaning in the house for allergy sake 😏so this was relatable. Our household has been transitioning, the kitchen items I need on a daily basis are different than, when family visits. Rather similar to your Nan perhaps. I need a minimal number of items on a daily basis and even keep them handy styled in a basket, a cloth napkin and my pretty plates and bowls which I use daily on display, and handy. In this way, there’s no need to reach high. And I enjoy looking at my collection 😊 Thanks for the encouragement showing how just tidying and rearranging can give a facelift.No expense make overs are great!

My granddaughter and I are very close. She is at my house every Friday after school. She's only5,but we bake and she helps clean. I'm looking forward to when she's an adult to see where our relationship takes us.

I have been decluttering and went from one cupboard of 12 plates, 12 bowls, 12 salad plates, and 12 dessert plates, down to 6 of the large plates and 6 salad plates. I got rid of all the small dessert plates and kept 6 bowls. I am never going to use 12 of each of those 4 categories at once so they had to go. I love the extra space in my cupboards.

When I was a kid and I would go over to my granny's I'd help her straighten up the house. Then we'd sit down and watch the Golden Girls and eat popcorn we popped on the stove it was the early 90's. Whenever I watch your videos of you doing something with or for your Nan. I think of the things I used to do with my granny.
I am a nan! Thankfully, I decluttered, big time, a few years ago, but when we “downsize,” I’m going to hire someone. When our moms were older, I used to clean, wash or replace curtains, etc. I’m glad you did this for your nan.

Oh Hermione, what a great job! Poor Nan, it's easy to let a kitchen get cluttered but she was very trusting & let you get on with it. I'm a grandmother too but my grandkids are still at the age where they drop by & create chaos then go home leaving me to clear up by which time I'm too shattered. I loved when you found the pinecone and filmed how you threw it in the garden 😂 Also I really like thr kitchen, as you said the Orange tiles don't really seem to fit in but over all it just gives the kitchen some uniqueness. And it looks so cozy, like I would love to spend time in there! :) I'd love to see you transforming other space in your Nan's house, too. And I'm planing on decluttering some of my space soon too, but not until the heatwave has passed by next week. With 32°C it isn't fun to declutter in a flat😅😂
I live with my grandma and I can honestly say her cabnets looks the same and there's nothing I can do to change that, so I'm truly amazed by what you did there
Being nearer your nans age I did a clean up of my kitchen and decimised my plates and bowls that number of people don't come round to eat and if they do I use my 'best" which I keep elsewhere and a quarantine bin helped . I now have space in my cupboards ,4 of each is enough for daily life.
