Those two cylindrical devices on that cell tower are microwave relays to similar units on other towers. That cell is probably utilizing them as its connection to the national/international network. Cell phones pick towers based on signal strength and reduce the phone's transmit power, thus extending the battery charge, if a tower is close enough. The cell phone's location can be approximated based solely on signal strength but it's not as accurate as the phone utilizing the time differential in signals coming directly from GPS satellites.
That's funny Matt. They have been listening for a long time. My buddy and I noticed that a couple years ago. We did the same thing to check it.

Also when ur searching on google, eBay etc it feeds back into what ur searching for and then they start throwing ads your way trying to sell you something...it’s all in ur search history, cookies etc

My wife and I stopped at used car lot to looked at truck one evening. I got out and looked. By the time we got home, an add for that very truck popped up on my phone.
For the tower, sometimes the internet come in through the backhaul depends on what's in the area. Some times there is like or two towers in the area and the rest are all fed through the backhaul (the round microwave dishes)
Your not paranoid! My father has been a lineman for 30 yrs and just went back to work after an injury but we had talked about his hands and how much trouble they are giving him.. the next day I received commercials for LINEMAN CABLE CUTTING EQUIPMENT. I then took off the " targeted ads" and guess what? It still was coming up with very specific adverts for products I havnt searched for!

Cell towers tend to use Quadrant antennas that are tuned for specific frequencies, the Microwave dish is generally the uplink, and if there is a Yagi its generally pointed at another tower for point to point comms between the sites, also i've witnessed similar things there brother, i was talking with a friend of mine about doing a repower of my 4x4 and suddenly within about a day maybe even less like half a day, i started getting advertisements for salvages and GM Performance turn-key crate engines, so its true, google, siri, even alexa, they listen to everything and use that information to form search results and targeted advertisements, "big brother is watching", so not that crazy at all brother, be safe out there

Completely off the subject but that prefab home made me wonder why someone hasn’t added interior sprinkler systems in them and then my wandering brain though about putting them on the roofs of those home naturally not with PVC pipe. You’re not being paranoid. If you have the voice recognition turned on and you grant access to the microphone then the programs like Facebook can listen and their AI uses your conversations for their ads. That’s why I have those turned off.

I was in Walgreens the other day and went in for balloons and some star burst. I walked passed the toy isle and just glanced at the Hot Wheels. I didn't say anything, I didn't even have my phone on me. As I had left it in the car. Why, when I got home and settled in, I was inundated with hotwheels ads on all my feeds. Wtf sorcery are they using now!
You need to inhibit your tracking cookies online. DuckDuckGo's browser add-on is one way; Firefox, Vivaldi, and Brave web browsers inhibit these by default.
Why asides from ego/spite keep a 20/30 year old truck you can't drive locked up that you have not paid for 20 miles out of town? That is who is crazy.
I've done this I can set my phone down on a charger and if I run to Wal-Mart and use my card the phone will trip out while I'm gone but if its with me it does nothing so ya

The cellsite itself is dumb and the intelligence is located elsewhere. The radio power is surprisingly low and harmless. At a 1st glance it looks like that cellsite may be connected to it's parent network by microwave not cable. The directional antennas do not really influence triangulation because triangulation is all about timing and signal strength. EDIT A more detailed look makes me think it is fed by cable. The microwave is probably daisy chaining onto more cellsites.

I use a dummy account for Facebook and google and I also turn off must of their tracking features. Facebook isn't worth pissing on anyway. Your page is just one big advertisement for Facebook. I also use Shut up Windows 10 to turn off all the different ways Microsoft wants to collect my information. Google has settings that allow you to go in a delete all your collected data manually and also to set how long they can keep the data. They also allow you to turn off targeted advertising but you have to look out for their sneaky attempts to get you to turn it back on by turning something else on. When I use Google Maps, I always use it with one of my fake accounts. If you have an Iphone, you can turn off targeted advertising as well. Your phone doesn't record your every word but it is always trying to her it's wake up phrase and if it thinks it hears it, sends your next few phrases over to google or apple and they will do whatever they can with it.
Its mainly got to do with Facebooks algorithms if you say put in something about Chevy in a post they bomb you with Chevy adds I've had it before and yes it's annoying as but yes I wouldnt be surprised if big brother was listening in on people's conversations
