Such an interesting and enjoyable piece! Though it has definite shades of "Mathis der Maler," it has its own voice ... especially in that uncompromising ending. Thanks so much for posting.

Aesthetically, strong and linear symphony ... as in tango, it must tell a sad and dramatic story ..

This is a great composition. I would like to see it re-recorded with modern electronics and a great symphony. This recording does not do justice for the composer. I can hear the great ingredients in the composition, but since it was recorded with vacuum tubes in mono vice stereo in the 1950's it does not have the spectral dynamics of a new recording in present day technology.

    Very much influenced by Hindemith.

This recording is not very good. A shame!
