    One thing I always appreciated about this fight scene and this movie in general, was that it didn't show wounds as instantly fatal. Men here took wounds that were going to eventually kill them, yet they fought on, and so it was and is in real life.

    3:34 i always loves this scene. The sounds of the battle fade away, with the last breath the warrior raises his gaze to the sky, to the trees, to life and embraces death. The silent and peaceful death in the midst of chaos. There is something in that warrior's eyes that gives me the idea that he was always prepared for that moment, he does not resist and the last image he takes with him from this life is the green of the trees and the wind making their leaves dance.

    • @misterkevinoh
      @misterkevinoh 20 дней назад +1

      Not to mention a masterful transition of scenes. Shot of the warrior looking up. CUT TO- Blurry trees from HIS perspective looking up at them. Enter the Hospitaller, OUT OF FOCUS. The Hospitaller steps forward INTO FOCUS, cut to the now dead Warrior on the ground. And just like that, gracefully, we are in the next scene.

      To be fair, ransom was widely held to at the time, it was a mutual creation of the noble classes to escape death if they couldn't be bothered to fight. He had every right to expect his ransom would be honoured, and that the Crusaders - now fugitives in a hostile land - would be unwilling to bring a company of avenging knights down upon their heads. They were still far from the sea, and the murdered knight's mission/whereabouts would have been known, so his father would have had ample time to track down the Baron of Ibelin and carry out the King's justice.

      @ exactly. In the cinema version it was the bishop who sent his troops. They must have spent a hell of a long time shooting and re shooting that scene.
      It is much better.
      The queen also loses a baby in the longer version and the story does look very different. I was lucky to find one second hand version on Amazon
