I’ve been loving this series but I strongly disagree about fighting Ulcerated Tree Spirits. While you need some distance when they do their AOE explosions, I’ve done best when I’ve hugged their sides, as the flailing attacks swing wide, and will typically miss me when I’m in close. They do move so much it’s tough to stay there, but I really think Pippen’s advice to Treebeard is the way to go with them: the closer to danger, the further from harm
I could have communicated that part better. I totally agree with being close when you actually fight them, but their movement and thrashing is so extreme and overwhelming that it’s hard to tell what they’re doing when you’re up close, so I think it’s a good idea for newer players to watch then from a distance a bit at first to familiarize themselves with the move set. If you know what attacks it has in its arsenal, you have a better chance at recognizing what it’s doing even when you’re in close and might not have the best view with the camera. Staying super close to really big enemies to make them swing over your head is a great strategy though once you have that confidence with their attack patterns. Ultimately the tree spirits are kind of ridiculous though so I usually just press my face against them, start swinging, and pray haha.
Cot dammit, knew I missed a golden seed somewhere on the new character. Yes, Stormveil is god-tier level design the way it all wraps round/up/down & connects back is *chef's kiss*. Small tip if you need Stonesword keys for the whetstone and payerbook rooms: the isolated merchant in west weeping peninsula has 3 & the one in the east by castle more has 1 both only charge 2000 runes instead of 4000 from Roundtable. Those & any you find open world should see you til Caelid if you don't use 3 to open doors at Roundtable
