I love everything about this song. the music, the melodies, the lyrics and the voices. the small details like the sounds that actually capture the meaning of flying. I feel like it's one of their underrated songs. Eagle is truly art and one of my fave abba songs ❤️

They have that typical 70's pitch some singers used at that time that produces the sensation that it feels like to be high in the sky. A totally different group used that pitch they have in a total different genre and all of music BUT with that distinction of pitch.(I think it was Kool and the gang in one of their 70s songs.Nice music and I've memories of my toddler years of the 70s

I agree with the sentiment, but realistically the album can only have so many singles. This would have had to compete with Take a Chance on Me and The Name of the Game which were both great radio fodder.

Incredible how they were able to musically illustrate that feeling of flying. Vocals, exact synth riff, economic guitar, multiple sonic overlays - all convey feeling of soaring high up in the sky, of dizzy heights and sublime majesty quite brilliantly. That ABBA album was surely their pinnacle.

This song isn't listened to as oft probably because it isn't a "dance" song, which ABBA is more known for, but my goodness is this such a fantastic song. I absolutely loved this as a kid, the whole album it comes from. This song touched my heart now for 40 years.

The informed know about their ENTIRE catalogue. ABBA is known by the informed as a multiple genre group with a high level of musicality musicianship and professionalism.
Also, the American music industry people on balance shit on ABBA, while the rest of the world did not.
The Americans, not individual Americans, but the American music establishment did thier best to misrepresent ABBA. But the world outside of the American music industry establishment were sharp -- they knew ABBA were incredibly talented.
In the 90's the American music establishment started to come out of the woodwork with praise for ABBA. They were basically shamed by the rest of the world for their unfair treatment of ABBA.
ABBA were a self contained indie band that did everything themselves. They had no corporate music industry puppeteers or overlords.
This fact bothered many who worked in the music industry. ABBA had their close nit team, full of talent and intelligence just kept on making music.
In the end, quality will always be rewarded.
ABBA were and are giants.

This album was a gift to me by my older sister Petra (1959- 2001)in february '78, the month my beloved father took me to the movies to watch ABBA -THE MOVIE...and all the records, MCs, CDs, DVDs my late mother gave to me. I'm crying when I'm listening to ABBA' s music and videos. EAGLE was a top ten hit in Germany. Goodnight everybody.

Agreed. Their best album as well. They reached a new level of maturity here; no more silly lyrics like "Bang-a-Boomerang" or "Dum Dum Diddle," but more importantly, more sophisticated melodies as well (this, "The Name of the Game," and "Take a Chance on Me" remain 3 of my all-time favorite songs of theirs). While they would continue to mature on their subsequent 3 albums, their production on them would also become a little too slick and synth-heavy for its own good. _The Album_ strikes the perfect balance.

when I played this song in my car in Portland, Oregon.................multiple people stepped up to my car when I was stopped at a couple traffic lights..............and they asked who sings this............it is fantastic. It is awesome when you hear it with pounding cymbals & thundering bass...............and the girls voices go thru you to your core.

if you love the songs..............you should visit Sweden before you die. Put it on your bucket list. It is a fantastic nation. Full of beautiful, smart people. I'm not joking, take a walk down a street in Malmo, Stockholm, Gothenburg.........half the people look like they just stepped out of a fashion magazine..............they are tall. fit, & gorgeous. It is a nation of ice, mountains, fire, lakes, vast forests, fjords.................and Vikings. When I met Agnetha & Anni-Frid of ABBA as an 11 year old kid, they towered above me..........they are already tall & when they wear their heels they are over 6 feet tall. So as an 11 year old kid, to me they looked like Viking goddesses that had just stepped out of some spaceship or something...............I remember they had to bend over halfway to the floor to hug me. I was mesmerized and thought they must be the most beautiful humans on earth.
I've travelled to Sweden over 20 times (I live in Finland). I once visited ABBA museum in Stockholm. It was very cool place and if you like ABBA you'd better check that place out
