Skillet was the first band I started independently listening to and I’m so glad you’re liking their music so far! The lead singer, bassist, and founder of the band is John Cooper, his wife Korey is the keyboardist and rhythm guitarist, Jen is the drummer and Seth is the lead guitarist. I actually got to meet John and Jen at a live concert a few years back and they we SO nice! My first Skillet song was Sick of It off of their album Rise and I highly recommend it! Once I heard it I was hooked for life!
If you want more of the female vocal, listen to Not Gonna Die & Terrify the Dark as well. But you could also react to the drummer, Jen Ledger, individually. She has her own solo project. Warrior & Bold are my two favorites from her EP.
Some have already mentioned it but yeah Seth is lead and does a lot of the guitar solos, but between playing keyboards and doing background vocals, wife Corey does guitars. But don't miss the fact that Jon sings and plays bass, so sometimes the heavier guitar tones come from that. Jon's voice is a little deeper, raspier when singing songs that are bit slower. Also mentioned... sick of it! Comatose, Not Going to die ... Jen is amazing in this song... Also her solo project ... Ledger ... Jon and Seth also have a side project - Fight the Fury ... My Demons
