They did that with the Jackie Aina palette. They did that with the Mented foundation. I literally am TIREDT. Go to tarte. Go to too faced. Go to Hourglass. Like go to where YOU are wanted. Go sit down at the table you belong at and leave this table alone.
I saw a review complaining about Ami Cole’s new foundation stick not having more lighter tones. That literally just came out! These people have too much time on their hands. Like move along.
The girls can go to CoverGirl or Tarte if they want dusty eyeshadow with no pigment, there's still brands that cater to the girls who like whispers of colors on their eyes.
But a super pigmented color does not even mean that it can work on dark skin... A very pigmented baby pink or peach blush will never work on my skin either.
@@heredianna2496 Yeah people are confusing pigmentation and saturation - colors for dark skin need to be the right saturation, how pigmented a product is is a preference. I like products that aren't super pigmented and sheer - but I NEED them to be saturated or else they'll be ashy.
I was watching a white creator tear down the brand for having “ugly” and ghastly over pigmented items. I went right into them comments and told her that it was really a lot for her to think she was the only person who they were making make up for.

I think it is because the followers weren't around 50 years ago. I think I know who OP is referring to and I feel like her followers are quite young. 😂😂
You're absolutely right. I saw one tickty tock with a rice-colored dude who was using a JP blush in a deep pink. He was complaining mightily and was called out for exactly this microaggression. For 90 years, everything has been 'for them' alone. Get over it, and leave us and our brands alone.
I use to call Twitter the Wild Wild West, but TikTok is about to take that title! Whoever posted about a liquid blush from Juvias being to pigmented for them just wants clicks and views. Because please believe that Juvias has a shade for anyone who wants to spend money with her. Just ask Nikki Tutorial. But her brand was created to give makeup lovers that look like her products that will meet their/our needs. Some of this era of social media "Influencers?" all they want to do is create the next scandal or argument. I guess it's all they have to offer
I remember this when Fenty came out with the Trophy Wife highlighter (a vivid yellow gold) came out. Dunno who thought that color would work as a *highlight* on pale skin. Not Rihanna's fault some people can't figure out how colors look together.
I was just ranting about this very subject when the ABH Fall Romance palette was released. The less melanated folks were in a tizzy over how dark it was, never mind the fact that dozens of other palettes that were made exclusively for them were released at the same time. I literally saw a video short of some 19 year old beauty blogger saying she doesn’t support Juvias place because of what they stand for. The thing they stand for being creating products for black women as a black brand, and she was trying to mess with their money because they make makeup for black women. The entitlement never ceases to amaze me.
Also the way they were giving blushes from other brands that are deemed highly pigmented a pass/second chances but immediately popped off on JP speaks volumes to me. Juvia Places has the deepest hues of our skin in mind and Huda the arab ppl, and thats ok. After decades of products being catered to white ppl suddenly not being the first thought feels like an attack for some ... or so I think
They know exactly what they're doing. It's called free publicity on the backs of black women and our outrage gives them the attention they seek. Even negative attention is still attention. I refuse to be bothered by stupidity. Jackie Aina pointed this out some years ago.
Seriously! Juvias place has very milky pale blushes in the line literally for the fair girlies, and still cause more then 1 of the shades are not for them they're mad. Like they want all the shades to be for them and then like 1 plum shade for the rest of us 🙄
When you said "everything is not about you" I literally screamed!!!! Because I've been saying that for a couple weeks now, even right before this video started! It just pisses me off because they always act like everything is about them and for them, and they just seem to completely forget about the existence of melanated people, and they just treat the rest (us) like 'yeah whatever'. They just seem to live in a bubble and that's why I feel like they often use our complexion as an afterthought. When they complain about something, like a shade range of something, it's totally fine, but when we complain about brands not having enough shades for the melanated people, they're like "but not everything is for you. You have enough brands that cater to you". And that just pisses me off so freakin bad!!! Ok, let's watch the video now 😂, maybe I edit my comment later on.
Can we all agree that the Hourglass face palettes aren’t made for deeper complexions? At least that is what I have told myself over the years and kept my $90 in my pocket. I don’t get the complaints like there is not something out there for people with lighter complexions. The majority of the makeup market caters to this demographic and only recently (the last 10-20 years) have major brands have considered providing products that consumers with deeper skin could use. SMDH
Wise person. I am shade Tan178 I KVD which is definitely brown skin and the latest "darkest" holiday pallete from them doesn't bronze, nor blush my face at all 😂 continue saving your coins
You can tell when a person never had to buy 2 foundations to make it work because they don't make your colour or just give up because some really nice product makes you look, grey, orange, red or blueish because undertones are hard if you have melanin apparently. Something that's not for you just isn't for you, that's it thats all
I was talking about this in a makeup group on fb that I was in. They fired back and said that it's hard for those with lighter skin to find makeup, and there are tones of brands that catter to African Americans.
Am I the only one who seems to remember how Juvia’s place was actively courting white influencers and allegedly paying them more than Black influencers who rode for them for years?

I feel like "that" side of the makeup community always says something racist when a product isn't geared for them. My issue isn’t usually pigment it’s saturation. Like there’s a lot of products that don’t look right on me bc they’re not saturated enough and there might be too much white in the color. It’ll be sooooooo pigmented but still ashy. What I DONT DO is get on the internet wah wah crying like a baby bc ONE product doesn’t work for me 😒🙄
I can't believe people are complaining about a product being too pigmented. (I'm not on social media for mainstream makeup so I was unaware of the backlash.) I rather have a stronger pigmentation in my makeup products, and just use a lighter hand than deal with a weaker pigmentation that doesn't show up on my skin. I still remember the days when makeup palettes darkest brown shades were a nude on my skintone, and I'm in the light to mid range tan depending on the season. Deeper pigmentations are better, like there's no argument about that. It's easier to deal with more pigmented colors, you can make it less opaque or more opaque with a brush. To be honest, I wish more brands had stronger pigmentation. I still sometimes struggle with mainstream brands pastel and lighter shades not showing up! Lighter pigmentations just do not show up at all like a lot of those older dusty makeup palettes from the early days of BeautyTube. No one should need to have practically stab a palette just to get some color. It's why I tend to prefer BIPOC indie brands and mainstream makeup brands because I know the colors will show up on my skintone no matter how light or dark someone's complexion is. To me more pigmentation is a selling point of Black brands, the color payoff is amazing in comparison to makeup brands aimed at light complexations.
You said it all!!! I follow all kind of complexions for different reasons but I feel like there has been a shift this last year. Appart from Danessa myricks, most black owned brands are getting meh or bad reviews and I feel like black creators accounts are still less visible than the others. When I look for a review on a product and add " on dark skin" in my research, I still have more results from yt creators. Idk I'm just frustrated by all this.
Absolutely. We can’t use one product expecting it to act like another. I have both and I had to learn to work with both! They wear and apply differently. That’s not on the product this time.. that’s on the skill.
Do they not know how to use a light hand when applying their makeup? Some products are more pigmented than others and require different application techniques. It’s the same way when we use products made specifically for them (mind you it’s all we had if we even wanted to play in makeup until very fairly recently) and we have to practically use half the container just to see it. Using very pigmented products (the right way) will allow you to have a certain product more much longer that way as opposed to when we try to use their stuff and it’s gone after three applications because we had to use so much just for it to be seen. The nerve of the entitled!!
There are so many brands that barely have medium shades... And yet we'll find a way to complain if every single shade in a launch doesn't work for us. I bet they couldn't use 3 dots of the lightest shades either if they're that pigmented and being compared to Rare... You'd think they'd switch up their application before complaining. I'm super pale and have the lightest shades of the Rare blushes and I had a few attempts before fiding the perfect method of applying and they look so beautiful on... If the Juvia's blushes are being compared to those? I'm sold.
Another reason I’m glad I’m not on beauty TikTok 🙄 They’re on the platform to get “famous” not to help or teach people….also, what about the Rare Beauty blushes?? 😑
Certified white girl here and I love Juvia's place stuff BECAUSE it's pigmented. And I knew it would be, because I...... Read reviews! There are SO many reviews for every product out there, there's no excuse to complain that the product is too pigmented when there are dozens to hundreds of swatches just a search away.
Keep it 💯 I don't have tikity- tok. There is another creator whom mentioned that deliberately leaving a "bad" review actually gets the most views. As a person who owns several JP products, I love the color payoffs
Yessssss Shanygne!!!!! Thanks for sharing your own anecdote of learning. I get turned off products that don't have an extensive shade range even if my pale-ass shade is included. Do the work, brands!
Many professional makeup artists use heavily pigment products but diffuse it on the back of their hand or a palette. I think it the case some influencers don't know how to use pigmented products. They want products that blend themselves so they don't have to do any work to make it work.
What really made me mad was that they really got here on Angele Davis' Internet and made reviews like it was a product that just didn't work, like the formula needed to be reconstructed. At least it COULD work with a brush and common sense. We haven't been able to say the same when they come out with negative three shades with every 4 business days 😕.
🤷🏾♀️ they sun tannin and wiping tanner lotions on….they complain about products not working for them. Chile plz, I’m so unbothered by the shenanigans ✌🏾
I blame Juvias place. The owner pandered to clear folks in order to become a household name, so they thought she was making products for them. Remember when the only content creators she sent pr to where clear folks.
The level of entitlement when the Karen and Cindy aren’t the center of the entire universe is exhausting. Let me go buy some more pigmented blushes, shadows, bronzers and anything else they can’t use during Black History Month
What's also wild is if you can wear less of the product to get double the impact that's called "more bang for your buck"..they can miss me with the white-centered complaints🙄..as Kevonstage said #ItsForBlackPeopleAnyways
Ignorance at its finest! I’ve literally seen so many comments like this… so many people calling deeper shades or certain undertones “weird” just because it doesn’t work for them!
And to be honest, it’s not even about being less melanated, it’s about having coming sense. Which seems to be at an all time low. They should have been embarrassed to post a video without previously testing it out to see how your skin would handle it.
when I read or hear people complaining about how certain products don't work for them, I like to remind them of churches and religions. There are so many, you go to yours and let everyone else have theirs. Beauty products are the same. There are so many. Don't like it? Don't buy it.

Using very pigmented products (the right way) will allow you to have a certain product more much longer that way as opposed to when we try to use their stuff and it’s gone after three applications because we had to use so much just for it to be seen. The nerve of the entitled!!
I know. It's as if they don't want to save money on products. 😅
I'm sold.
The bob looks great :)
Also white 🙋♀️. Same.
Yes! Same here, very well said.
Keep it 💯 I don't have tikity- tok. There is another creator whom mentioned that deliberately leaving a "bad" review actually gets the most views. As a person who owns several JP products, I love the color payoffs
The way you break things down is top tier!!!❤
Thank you! And thank you for also speaking about products meant for folks with dexterity issues.
You are the real MVP Shanygne!! Love the hair!!❤
It’s for us! By us! M E L A N I N A T E D folks! Stop it!
I'm white and I like black-owned brands too.
The Juvia’s Place and Rare Beauty blushes had to go back lol. Beautiful colors *that do blend out* but I’m gonna stick with powder.
Juvias Place gets all my money! When JP came out it was like the heavens opened up for me. I agree with you and glad you made this video.
Haven't watched yet but I'm adding a like for the title alone ❤❤❤
What really made me mad was that they really got here on Angele Davis' Internet and made reviews like it was a product that just didn't work, like the formula needed to be reconstructed. At least it COULD work with a brush and common sense. We haven't been able to say the same when they come out with negative three shades with every 4 business days 😕.
I'm so with you regarding the reaction between RB vs JP. The double standard 🤡
Thank you for bringing this to my attention
Juvia’s Place has great eyeshadows and phenomenal lipsticks! The Morrocco lipstick is my go to (medium skin tone here)
🤷🏾♀️ they sun tannin and wiping tanner lotions on….they complain about products not working for them. Chile plz, I’m so unbothered by the shenanigans ✌🏾
Your hair looks pretty
TELL 'EM GIRL!
I blame Juvias place. The owner pandered to clear folks in order to become a household name, so they thought she was making products for them.
Remember when the only content creators she sent pr to where clear folks.
She even sent a pr box to jefree Starr but wouldn't send them to black makeup influencers.
The level of entitlement when the Karen and Cindy aren’t the center of the entire universe is exhausting. Let me go buy some more pigmented blushes, shadows, bronzers and anything else they can’t use during Black History Month
Go in sis!
Facts!! #speaktruthtopower So much selfishness and judgement these days
The girls were complaining about the ABH Fall Romance palette being too pigmented for pale or lighter skin. It is about technique.
Before I even WATCH the video...My pet peeve is when POC/light skin POC complain about Ami Colē and Fashion Fair.
Simple, "It's not for you" period!
Very good conversation! Very interesting! 🙂
I mix the rare beauty blushes with my concealer…. Like it’s not that big of a deal… these creators seem to go out of their way to be disrespectful
Tell it Shanygne! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
52 secs ago? Yes, I’ll click and watch! ☺️
What's also wild is if you can wear less of the product to get double the impact that's called "more bang for your buck"..they can miss me with the white-centered complaints🙄..as Kevonstage said #ItsForBlackPeopleAnyways
I thought the kids on tiktok wanted full coverage full pigment 2015 beat
I love ur hair 🔥🔥🔥
Ignorance at its finest! I’ve literally seen so many comments like this… so many people calling deeper shades or certain undertones “weird” just because it doesn’t work for them!
I'm buying it. Too much pigment? Oh no, how will I handle it?
And to be honest, it’s not even about being less melanated, it’s about having coming sense. Which seems to be at an all time low. They should have been embarrassed to post a video without previously testing it out to see how your skin would handle it.
OK‼️🗣
Nothing but truth
when I read or hear people complaining about how certain products don't work for them, I like to remind them of churches and religions. There are so many, you go to yours and let everyone else have theirs. Beauty products are the same. There are so many. Don't like it? Don't buy it.
It's very much giving HYPOCRITICAL and their privilege is showing
Wait! Where have i been??? Did you cut your hair?
It’s a wig.
It’s a quickweave
TRUTH
Oop clicked fast!!
Me too! 😂😂
Unreal, have people lost all common sense!!! 🤦
Wait who did what now? Complaining a product is too pigmented. Loooorddd
It's ok, every thing isn't for everyone it is by trial and error. There are many more options now.
Not the 8.5 by 11s cutting up on the ticky tock 😩
*insert kev on stage voice* "it's for black people anyway!"
I love me some Juvia’s Place. They got my girl Chi Chi fucked up.
