Thankyou for the walk. One of my first apartments was between 15th and 16th on Mission Street on the 2nd floor just above a dog shelter, every morning the dogs would wake me up as early as 6am. This was back in the 80's; also lived a hotel closeby on Mission. Thankyou again, stay safe on your walks.rab
Thank you for the upload. I'm going to San Francisco for the first time and the dollar store tour was exactly what I like.. Good luck with the RUclips channel.
I lived in the Mission district for 20 years (Folsom and 25th). I've walked, drove and biked up and down Mission Street many, many times. It really is a wonderful area and I miss it very much. Thank you for bringing memories back in such a real, clear, uninterrupted way.

I wonder if they bother to remove the Walgreens price stickers before they sell stuff, or do they just not care because they know the police won't do anything about stolen goods?
I just got out of the Army around ‘77 and rented a room temporarily on 16th and Mission. It was a two or three story building with a bar/band on the bottom floor. I moved out after a month’s stay and two weeks later it caught on fire. I think two or three people perished that day.
LOVE the Mission! We lived on 22nd at Folsom for a couple years and I would walk these streets home at night post-midnights from 16th Street BART instead of 24th Street BART because I enjoyed the neighborhood and vibes.
There is nothing wrong with the Mission District. It is mostly families and is a safe part of the city to live. Caliwalks is very selective about what he films and likes to show the worse parts of cities. A friend of mine has lived and worked in the heart of the Mission for 50 years and still loves it.
@caliwalks Thank you for your walk thru. I hadn't been there in many years. I'd like to go back for a weeks stay. And make a trip to Marin County. Keep up the good work!
Between 2001, and 2013, I traveled to and through SF. on a dozen occasions. it was always on Market St, and not far from the Mission precinct. Being a big walker it was nothing for me to traverse all the way from Chinatown, down to Fisherman's Wharf, then back along the waterfront to the ferry terminal and back up to my lodgings. In those sojourns, you'd encounter (as you do in any big city) people who down on their luck, and there'd be someone here or there huddled up in a disused store front. And of course there were some junkies hanging around. But what I spy in RUclipss over the past 2 years is akin to being in a por part of Mumbai. I'm 70 years of age now, and circumstances prevent me from traveling too much like I did in prior days. However, if I were to do another round-the-world excusion my first or last port of call will NEVER be SF, or LA. Instead, I'll go via Vancouver - not that it's too great, either; but it's better than the other pair.
SF in 2024 is the same as 2013. If you want to look on RUclips, of course this is what you see. But you think this stuff isn't happening in other cities?
The Mission is I think the largest lower income neighborhood in San Francisco. The produce from the markets there is about half the price of the produce at Safeway. People selling stuff on the street during the daytime is relatively new. I only saw that being done after dark a few years ago.
The presidio has the brand new tunnel tops park and a fancy pizza restaurant now. This is the mission and most of the venders have been moved away by enforcement officials in last few months
@@jyc313 we were lucky to live on portola street, very nice duplex homes, the base was already closing down to be a park..my husband was the last of the soldiers to have a retirement ceremony there
Stolen goods most probably. Then they sell it for half the price, thus no receipts or sales tax or invoice of any kind. The 'wonderful state' does heavily tax the legit citizens and businesses in order to sustain the inclusivity policies.
Pretty good city walk. If you're traveling looking for vibrant walking streets, it's much better and cheaper to get a passport to go abroad. Much better in most other countries.
I lived at 18 Sycamore pre Y2K and there was so much more drug activity and general crime going on back then. Seems like when crack was still around people would get more desperate when they came down. There’s not as much or none at all in some places, so there’s generally not as much crime.
There was not a very good choice in some periods of time and in some places in USSR but it never looked that bad and devastated in Moscow as in this video. I am from Moscow
San Francisco is a city that is not suitable for families because it is very expensive and is considered a business city, so we find that most of the apartments are inhabited by people who go out to work in the morning and come to sleep after work . What we see in the video, the people who are sleeping on the ground are nothing but homeless people who do not have our housing and are sleeping on the street. Such streets in San Francisco are not safe to wander at night because drug users are active there, and it is recommended not to wander in their alleys. However, some tourists can wander in places such as the square opposite Macy's, which is crowded with foreign tourists.
Last year I was walking downtown san fran by the moscone center. I could see a group of homeless men ahead of me taking turns shitting on the same steaming pile in the middle of the sidewalk. Used condoms, dope needles, vomit and urine pools was everywhere.
Mission Street is the longest street in San Francisco with the poor hispanic business district from 16th to 24th street and where the bart stations are also located and businesses can extend up to 30th St. This is where stolen goods including with Walgreens label (not to be sold out of Walgreens) are sold and which the street vendors know how answer questions when asked. There is a part of this street where prostitutes comes out at night, particular areas bombarded by loud speakers in spanish by born again christians ;lots of dollar and cheap chinese stores as well. This is where you get the cheapest fruits and vegetables, so lots of poor people around. Crimes happens now and then. It was kind of improved before the pandemic but not really after that.
All the things I planned to do I only did half way.. tomorrow will be Sunday born of rainy Saturday There's some satisfaction in the San Francisco rain..no matter what comes down the Mission always looks the same..come again, walking along in the Mission in the rain...ruclips.net/video/-BcsVsCEnMU/видео.html Jerry Garcia

Absolutely ridiculous. They steal from the stores then sell it but would be upset if someone stole their stolen goods.
