Some cities now don't allow us to sit, lay in the grassy parks , on a beautiful breezy afternoon, for more than.2 hours. Because it attracts the ' homeless'.

Ripley's Believe It or Not has a whole new meaning. The tourists are avoiding SF. The criminals did such a good job breaking into cars that there's no more easy pickings. The Palace of Fine Arts, The Golden Gate Bridge and The Academy of Science and the Museum are no longer safe areas for the tourists.

Right behind the Tech industry (which is also leaving San Francisco) much of the city's income is derived from tourism, and one of its prime tourist attractions has always been Fisherman's Wharf. I wonder how many tourists from all over the world saved their money for a trip to San Francisco, only to be greeted by homeless drug addicts, disgusting and dangerous sidewalks, and shuttered businesses and attractions. Is there any doubt that they'll be spreading the word, far and wide, that San Francisco is no longer a vacation destination?
I visited there with family back in 2020. It was vibrant and busy. The sea lions were a prime attraction. We had clam chowder at one of those restos. What a disgrace....
Why have the people of California and specifically SF allowed the utter demise of this once beautiful city? I grew up there but haven’t been back in years. I have no desire to. This is tragic.
Ask the democrats there and they say nothings wrong and the economy is great but if you work in the Nancy Pelosi Federal Building and can work remotely please do because it’s not safe there 😊
Just went fishing on a charter boat here and they broke into my Rental SUV and the police didn't even take a report .. smh .. Gone Now the Whole State .
Our experience the last we were there in 2011 was when my son’s new car was scratched by the homeless guys who were sitting on his hood and playing their boombox. He called the police and they took the report thenasked him if he wanted to sue. He said yes and the police said, “unfortunately, the homeless people are king here in SF”. That was the last time we were there as a family and my grandson’s car was broken into and took his laptop. We avoid it like a plague.

I first arrived to San Francisco in 1979, at 18 on my way to Travis AFB. I'd go down there and walk the whole city, go to the forts, hang out at the beaches, eat at all the diners, Crivelli's Oyster Bar at The Cannery. It was vibrant. He is cherry picking. A lot of restaurants opened up / moved a few blocks south to North Beach, which is more lively than it was pre-pandemic. Also some places he claimed are "closed" are not closed, they just weren't open at whatever time he chose to film, for instance at 6:50 "this one also recently closed" no, that is Surisan, and it is very much still open (hence all the tables and chairs lol).
@@airops423 They all skipped out of a former tourist Mecca and moved to North Beach? I doubt it. I lived in SF for twenty years and, clearly, something drastic happened there. I know what that place is supposed to look like.
@@HazeOfWhearyWater Yeah, a lot of these businesses in Fisherman's Wharf, which exclusively rely on tourism because it's peak tourist trap that has zero appeal to locals, closed down a couple years ago during the height of the pandemic when tourism dropped to nothing. North Beach on the other hand is next door, appeals to both locals and tourists, and has had a ton of new activity over just the past couple years with tons of new bars, restaurants, shops, etc. opening up. For tourists there's also Pier 39, again right next door, which is overall a pretty vibrant tourist trap still.
I'll never forget my destroyer sailing under the bay bridge to dock at Fisherman's Warf for 3 days R&R back in '76. Crammed pack full of businesses & customers, busy AF! I mourn the loss of my once favorite city, enjoyed from the late 50's; the fog horns at night, the unique cafes and restaurants. Golden Gate Park before it became an open pit sewer, how sad as I remember the odors of the ivy, now replaced with the smell of urine and feces. Like Camelot, I almost wonder if it ever really existed. It has been over 2 decades since I returned and, having moved from California as a socioeconomic and political refugee, know I will never see the fog roll in, nor hear my beloved fog horns again.
Super dangerous to go wandering around on foot in some parts of SF, and parking your car is an invitation to vandalize and steal. The city has reached the point of no return, at least for several decades. And considering it is still getting worse, that clock hasn't started.
@@Arturo-sm1tb Last time I and my late spouse visited my once beloved city was a couple of decades ago. We entered from one of the South entrances. I cannot even imagine how bad it is these days. Fisherman's Grotto was a treat for us when i was a child, as were Tarantino's, Castagnola's, and Alioto's. Crab cioppino, mussels and linguini, fettucine alle vongole. This one really hit me in the feels. At Tarantino's they knew our family, and gave us special service, always the best. In the 1950s and 1960s there was an old Italian man on the wharf with a hand-cranked penny-rolling machine and you could choose to have him roll your penny with am image of the Bay Bridge, the Golden Gate Bridge, the 1939 Treasure Island World's Fair, or the Lord's Prayer. Every night he lifted the machine into the back of his pick-up truck and took it home, and every morning he was there again. Through an odd set of circumstances, after he retired and another man bought the machine, i ended up owning it, and later i sold it to an antique penny machine collector. Goodbye forever, Fisherman's Wharf.

I mourn the loss of my once favorite city, enjoyed from the late 50's; the fog horns at night, the unique cafes and restaurants. You do still have your memories though. It is so sad that nothing ever seems to stay the same and change is definitely not always for the better.
So sad to see....Me and some friends traveled from Denmark in the early 90´s, spending 14 days driving in Nevada,Arizona and California. And visiting San Fransisco was everything I dreamed about. It was truly a magnificent city with so many possibilities, driving down Lombard Street ,taking in the view from Coit tower and of course spending time on Fisherman´s Wharf...Heartbreaking to see what has become of this beautiful city
I worked at that Tower Tours 30 years ago. The owner was bent over and "assaulted" by a homeless man of very dark complection in a park nearby. The woman, who was white, young and very tiny, had to get tested for hiv for years. She had to take mood medication after that experience. She was never the same. SF has always been full of stuff like that. I lived there for 1983 to 2003. Lots of elegance. Lots of depravity.
Yes, SF has always been shady AF. I live in Florida now, people do not realize what it's like to have to walk with pepperspray and a knife tucked in your boot in case you walk down the wrong block. Left officially in 2008
Lots of elegance. Lots of depravity: Ancient Rome, Sodom, Gomorrah...they are g o n e...
It is hard to believe if you didn't show it to us. Thank you. The worst part is that all the people who could have enjoyed something nice will never get the chance to experience it. A disgrace.
Both disgraceful and shameful
The memories I had running through here as a kid & getting something to eat 😢
My first home port was in Alameda, 1993-1995. I'd go to SF often, it was beautiful and vibrant. I remember some of those restaurants and shops.
Now, my God. This is heartbreaking.
Fisherman's Wharf was a must see when visiting SF. So sad.😢
From must see to must avoid!

Dungeness Crabs and a cold beer , All Gone.
@@BIgBass255 Still there....
I so glad we visited the US twice in the 90's and saw San Francisco and LA before all this happened. We loved our stay in San Francisco and visit to Fisherman's Wharf. This is so sad to see😢
Thank you for telling us the Truth
The majority of Californians voted for this... TWICE!
I bet it was election fraud cuz I and almost everyone I know from CA voted for Trump but what do I know.
True. And it is was done with smug satisfaction. I bet the long despised "fly over states" aren't this bad.
Nope its voter fraud.
You can't fix stupid.
Yeah, but I bet they can name some transgender activists. Where are your priorities??!!
Thank You joe gavin & nancy GREAT JOB
In 1990 I was on the wharf with the most wonderful and vibrate people of SF. To see Tarantinos closed recognizing where we sat overlooking the bay is heart breaking. I can say the same for Seattle that is now unrecognizable. For the corporations that rose from these two great cities, this is what they leave in return. Whether it be corporate or political means, which in my opinion, are one and the same. Peace
My wife was born and raised in SF. We used to go back regularly and hang out at Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, etc. We got tired of the filth, homeless, crime, panhandling, etc., so we stopped going years ago. It’s shocking to see it now in these videos.
When I feed my dog and he scarfs down his food I say, “Food in the bowl…..GONE NOW!”
LOL It IS so very expressive! This is so heartbreaking for so many.
🤑🤪
@jjroseknows777 yes my home state is a funeral home . I like most have lost everything, now only what fits in a backpack is my life after loosing my home . Now I'm GONE
@@jasontimothywells9895 I'm so sorry, darling, I hope you have faith in God. I could not survive without my faith in a higher power. I must say, in the name of Jesus Christ. God bless you.
@@jjroseknows777 thank you , God bless
I used to live off Francisco St on a little dead end called Brett Hart Terrace. Rented a lovely home for $4K a month with a two car garage back in 2009. The view of the SF bay on Russian Hill was simply marvelous to behold. My wife and I on many an evening walked to Fishermen’s Wharf to dine at these establishments now
“G O N E N OW”. How sad.
Thanks Metal Leo for reporting the news. Since they locked up Julian Assange, your my next favorite journalist. Using an IPhone is brilliant journalism, pictures or video don’t lie.
In SF, all those trees on the streets if not watered regularly by government workers none would survive. For 3 months that summer in 2009 I lived in Russian Hill SF it never rained, I was told that was normal.
I was told to read a non-fiction book on why, Cadillac Desert. I did, fascinating read on why for millennia for near 6 months every summer in Cali it rarely rains yet the massive Redwoods thrive in this wild unchanging climate.
Metal Leo rock on!
Cadillac desert is a great book it explains how powerful people trap newly elected senators and Congress people the water wars of the West the decimation of the Ogallala water aquifer the destruction of the Owens Valley the “over allocation“ of the Colorado river water “cash register dams“ etc. a great read
Where I live $4000 a month would get you a 6-7000 ft mansion on 5 acres of land
Check out German in Venice. Same thing in Hollywood
$4k per month in 2009? An example of Overpriced SF real estate.
Redwoods are watered by fog in the dry months. The fog collects on their needles then rains down onto the roots. No shortage of fog on the north coast.
“It used to be breakfast all day, now it’s nothing all day”. 😂🤣😂
Now it’s boards all day!
I’m trying to find the part where that’s funny…. This is depressing.
@@Rosie82333 It is depressing to see San Francisco become all boarded up, but if we don’t find some humor it will drive us crazy. The only way to get through this crazy world.
Breakglass all day
Last Republican out of California please grab the flag!
Still living here and flying the flag.....it is terrible. only thing that I can make money on anymore is RUclips.
Good luck! Two of my coworkers moved here from CA recently. They just couldn’t take it anymore. Both were from around San Francisco.
Democrats hate the flag they’re allegiance is to the rainbow 🌈 flag
S.F is starting to look like Cuba I don't even think they know what a American flag is. I don't think I could find a American flag to grab on my way out and I sure as hell ain't grabbing a woke flag on my way out.
Will do.
Wow, the plywood industry must be thriving in the US.
What a living nightmare!
*The downward spiral of San Francisco breaks my heart.*
I was born in the early-50's and lived on Castro Street, just one block down from what was then called Franklin Hospital. My home was built in 1904 and, of course, survived the '06 Earthquake and Fires. Baptized at Mission Dolores ... the Old Mission Dolores, built in 1776, the oldest surviving building in San Francisco. Thank you, *METAL LEO,* for your San Francisco videos !!!
Did you have assless chaps too ?
Remember the 50s when you used to guard against communism. This is why folks.
Why do you suppose China has such a thriving society today then?
@@js70371wtf? Chinese people are some of the poorest people on earth, what are you talking about? You haven't seen anything about china lately you artard?
Exactly right. There is a communist movement underway in this country and most people are oblivious to it. People better wake up and start digging for info. First point of order, go to Google and type in "Wikipedia George Soros Open Societies." Take the time to read it.
Used to be " Breakfast all day ......now it's nothing all day.....gone!" 😂😂😂
thank you bro for your videos showing whats happening in san fran. theres still some idiots who think this is all bs but these videos prove them wrong.
I was stationed in Alameda from 1990-1993 and used to come back to SF every 2-3 years on vacation. It was the jewel city of our country, this I have no doubt. There was homelessness and drugs, but it was relatively safe as long as you had common sense. And it was fairly clean (compared to the present day). This city was a huge playground for people that wanted to have fun, adventure was just around the next corner, and my appreciation for great food started in the City. My last trip, in 2019, I stayed in Union square at a nice boutique style hotel, but had day trips outside the city the whole week (Monterey, Carmel, Yosemite, etc) because i didnt want to have to deal with this new reality that is SF. I'm not sure if I'll ever return. That is sad and it breaks my heart.
The downfall and utter decay of this once beautiful city is a crime and the people responsible for its transformation should be punished.
Wow! I used to live in the Bay Area and every spring go to fisherman's wharf with some folks and window shop and hang out downtown and see all the sites and go to the museums, plays, symphony, and sit on the wharf and eat that fabulous San Francisco sourdough bread and grab some chocolate over at Ghirardelli Square. If I was really bored I'd go drive up and down Lombard Street. In fact I would drive to San Francisco and deliberately get lost in the city so I could find my way out. There's no way I would ever do that today. It's like putting yourself in the food chain and you're not at the top!
My trip to San Francisco just became my trip to Seattle after watching this
