I grew up Christian my whole life and never really understood the cultural practice of Hmong. As I become older, I've learned to appreciate the history and meaning of our cultural traditions. Nice work on the music video and leading with quality work.

Wow, this is one of the best song ever. My husband is a Shaman and his dad was a Qeej Master and play every funeral. He listen to this song and gave him teary eyes. He instantly understands the meaning behind the song. Brings back many sad memories at the same time it is great to have a song that portrays the way of our cultures. The significance of the red string and why you don’t play Qeej for your closest friends, families and loved one. Well done.❤❤❤❤

@@Asian_newbiewe do, there are certain qeej songs that only close loved ones play for the dead. We don’t ask people who aren’t family to play it. It means more when a loved one plays it for the deceased. And it’s sad because often times you cry when you play the qeej for them cuss you also love the person who’s passed on.
This song hits hard because I know in the Hmong community I have seen a lot of relatively young married couples who have lost their spouse. It is a very heartbreaking thing to experience that I'm sure even words cannot describe it. I think this song greatly portrays the love and sadness when a loved one goes on their journey to the afterlife. I have watched this MV 5 times now and I've cried all 5 times. 😅😅😅 I'm gonna stop watching it now before I faint too.

This music video would hit Xy Lee’s gf the hardest bc imagine the impact his death took a toll on her life. It’s so hard to lose any family member. Saddest is when you have to face them by performing at their funeral.

This song reminds me of my husband who died 24 years ago. He was only 25 years old and I was 18 back than. Make me missed him dearly and brings back a lot of memories.

Love the music video and the meaning behind it. Everything about it is so sad. Reminds me of my dad when he passed away two years ago. Before my dad passed away he had asked his best qeej buddy to send him off but on the day of the funeral his buddy was crying and couldn’t do it and had to apologize to my dad. I didn’t understand why he couldn’t do it and why he was apologizing at the funeral until my older sister explained the reasons behind it and it’s exactly how this mv portrayed it. 😢

Jesus Christ wants you to have a personal relationship with him. He cares and loves you more than his own life that he gave it up for you to be saved. Jesus Christ is not about being religious but to be in unity with him and allow him to deliver you from the bondage that this sinful body (flesh) is doomed for; God’s wrath (John 3:36 “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him”).
Only through Jesus Christ will you ever get to heaven (John 10:9 “I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture”). Seek Jesus Christ only: no other gods can save you from God’s wrath. God’s wrath is not a joke or to be taken lightly (Hebrews 10:31 “It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God”). As a shaman myself this is what we go through with every session....it doesn't get easier because we experience everyone's pain
😢 I'm christian but I always have my spirit guides with me. I was ment to be a shaman. Every funeral, every shaman event. It hurt so much when I can see and experience things that I can't explain to others

My grandpa told him that if he did not want to be a Shaman then he has to truly believe in the Christianity ways to keep his guides at bay. He did for the longest time but from time to time they still come visit him tell him they’re still waiting on him to call them home. And yes my dad tends to see more than the usual. He just plays it off cause he doesn’t want to get involved.

Dang, this is so heartbreaking but at the same time send chills up your spine. Only if you grasp the Hmong funeral and the significance of the flute songs. These are the stories that were always taboo to tell out loud but only whispered through our elder story tellers. Glad to see it turned into art.

We have came such a long ways. Its so beautiful to tell our story, our religion, and our culture into music and video. I am glad to be Hmoob I am glad to have live this best era of old and current culture. My friend sent this to me when it first came out but I didn't listen to it until today. When I say it hit me like a ton of bricks it really did. My father passed away and the sound of the qeej and the message of the song gave me instant flashbacks to his funeral and burial and I can't stop crying. The song has been on repeat for 30 minutes now and I cried the whole way through it. If you've lost a loved one you would know how the sounds of the qeej can conjure emotions that you've put away to survive daily life. Such a great song.
