Touky's 1st verse -
Cov me lus ua wb tau cog
Tias yuav sib hlub txog ntuj to
Niam nkauj hnub thiab txiv nraug hli
Koj cov lus tsis tshav li nti
Niam tsaus ntuj tsis pom ib xim
Koj mus koj lawm, cas koj tsis hnov qab
Luag npab ncav koj yuav yog luag nyab
Cas nim chim kuv siab vim kuv twb xub npaj
Yuav coj koj los tsev, los ua kuv poj se
Luag npab ntev, koj yuav yog luag neeg
Plam lawm ces plam ib sim neej
Khuv xim kuv tsis yog tus yeej
Ntshe nws yuav mob
Mus kawg kuv lub neej
Koj mus ntsiag to, cas koj tsis xav txog
Koj yog tus nrhiav kuv kev hlub
Koj tau tag, koj thiaj ua siab dub
Cas niam tsis xav txog yav ntuj thaum ub
Koj niam koj txiv caiv wb kev hlub
Ua plaub ua ntug kom wb txhob pom ib lub hnub
Taug ib txoj kev, koom ib lub ntuj
Cas koj tsis xav txog cov lus uas wb cog
Lub me tee ntshav cas koj tsis nco txog
Luag yuav dhuav txuj kom tsis pub koj nrog kuv nyob
Luag yuav ua ci kom kuv plam ib sim
Puas yog vim lub ntuj nws ho tsis nrog pov
Lub ntiaj teb thiab tsis nrog puag
Tsawg tiam los tsuas tau kua muag
Kuv tseem tshuav koj puav pheej cia
Luag yuav ua txuj los, kuv yuav rov los nhriav
Yuav ua ntuj nphau teb ntxeev, los kuv yuav tuav rawv koj puav pheej cia
Kevins Chorus -
Txawm lawv txwv tu cov lus wb cog dhau los
Luag tsis paub wb txoj kev hlub
Tee ntshav
Cog lus ruaj khov
Ua dab ua ntxoog puas yog
Tee ntshav
Tsis hais saum neeg, los saum nruab yeeb
Toukys 2nd verse -
Tsis paub seb tim txoj kev npam twg koj thiaj yug los ua ntej
Wb kev nkauj nraug yav tag dhau los, qhib qhov muag los saib seb
Vim tseem tshuav koj tee ntshav
Luag thiaj tsis pub kuv hla
Kuv thiaj niaj hnub niaj hmo nrog vij saub thiab vij sw los puag koj
Koj tsis nco txog
Tiam dhau los
Plam koj txhais tes, vim teb chaws ua rog
Thiab li txiav txim siab los haus tee ntshav
Cog lus tias txawm yuav muaj lwm tiam
Los kav liam, mam sib hlub hauv nruab nrab
Nws yog tim zaj twg cas kuv ib leeg thiaj yog dab
Vim wb cov lus cog, kuv thiaj li yuav los cab
Cas nws niam mob, vim koj tsis nco qab
Wb kev nkauj nraug ua wb muaj yav tag
Nws twb dhau pes tsawg xyoo los kuv tseem hnov qab
Koj tseem zoo nkauj li tiam yav tag
Vim zaj twg luag yuav txiav kuv npab
Yog kuv ntev, ces luv peb ceg
Luag tsis pub wb nyob ua ke
Luag coj luag 9 phiaj neeb 8 phiaj qhua, los thaiv wb txoj kev
Luag txheev luag ci, npauj npaim tawm tuaj, npauj npaim yuav tu tis
Luag txheev luag txuj, tuav kuv nruj, luag thiaj paub wb sib hlub
Luag niam noj toog thiab txiv yaim hlau, ziag no dua tsis sib tau)
Siv Yis, koj ua npaum no koj puas tau muaj kev hlub ib zaug
Chorus -
Txawm lawv txwv tu cov lus wb cog dhau los
Luag tsis paub wb txoj kev hlub
Tee ntshav
Cog lus ruaj khov
Ua dab ua ntxoog puas yog
Tee ntshav
Tsis hais saum neeg, los saum nruab yeeb
Txwv tu cov lus wb cog dhau los
Luag tsis paub wb txoj kev hlub
Tee ntshav
Cog lus ruaj khov
Ua dab ua ntxoog puas yog
Tee ntshav
Tsis hais saum neeg, los saum nruab yeeb
I love it! Keep up the good work
The best~!!
Lyrics 🔥 🔥 🔥 mv is well made!! Great work
The only part that kind of bother me is the line that says, "tsis hais saum neej, los 'saum' nruab yeeb." It should has been, "tsis hais saum neej, los 'hauv' nruab yeeb." Because for heaven, it is saum ceeb tsheej. For Earth/the human world, it is hauv yaj ceeb. For the death world, it is hauv nruab yeeb. That's the only feedback I have for this line. Other than that, I love the song and everything about it. Zoo kawg li lawm. On my repeated list.
M
This is what you get when you have a Hmong rapper with deep knowledge on the Hmong language and culture. Great job Touky! Beautiful lyrics.
Exactly! That's what I was going to say. :)
Muaj tseeb kawg nkaus! I was extremely impressed with nws cov ntsiab lus hmoob hais tau tog tiag tiag 👍🏻
Agree 100%! I was thinking that the whole time I watched and listened to this. Nice work brother.
Good2 like
Yes! But they should still give credit to the original Kdrama “The King’s Affection.
"Siv Yis, koj ua npaum no koj puas tau muaj kev hlub ib zaug" 🔥
Accidentally came upon this while listening to a mix up of Hmong music. The lyrics are so deep and poetic, I had to stop what I was doing to pick up my phone and rewind to make sure I heard what I heard. Deep. These are the type of poetic words and lyrics our ancestors and the elders use. It's beautiful, unfortunately some of us will lose this gift but for those that can grasp it like this please continue to share with the rest of us. So good.
I agree! t is truly poetic and beautiful! Really makes you feel some kinda way.
When that tear drops. Knowing you had just lost the one you truly love again.
Best acting award goes to the girl who lost her hat when the bomb dropped lol
Omg 😂🤣
Lmfao
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH 👏👏👏
Agreeeeeed.
😂 I didn’t realize it until you mention it. Haha
The most powerful line: "Siv Yis, koj ua npuam no koj puas tau muaj kev hlub ib zaug?"
Thanks for a beautiful song! Everyone did great on the MV! I appreciate the English translation on screen as well! 👏👏👏
Es Koj nes Mai puas tau muaj keg hlub dua nas? Lol
the truth is i dont think siv yis ever did fall in love. I mean im just speaking out from my ass but how could you when you have so much responsiablities. Protecting human souls and is the gatekeeper from reality world to the soul world. His job is he must killed if anyone crosses the line. He know too much that emotion shouldnt borther him. Sorry to say but there’s more to it then falling in love with another person in life. He see it all he knows too well. Picture this if your a god and you see this world for what it is. People dying left to right, would you care to favor one life for the other or even compare. If someone died youll just see it as a natual causes thats how it is. You get what i mean right. So yeah its sad but hey we dont know the knowledge they do so we cant understand them and why siv yis do the thing he does.
Mandooooo
That’s what I thought too. Glad I wasn’t the only one lol
@@gotaeateat it's a huge responsibility to be siv yis, he's merely doing his job
No matter how many times I hear it on repeat, this song gives me the goosebumps because Touky be spitting fire in Hmong!
Dang, been playing this track nonstop for the last 6 days. Like if you agree!
It's songs and videos like this that makes me proud to be Hmong!
Crazy how love brings you back together even when fate brings you apart. Keep fighting yalls cuz Love is stronger than life it self....
I just got done reading Memoir of a haunted hmong girl. This song fit in the collection of songs for the book too. Beautifully done.
The lyrics, the cast, the artist got me all in my feels bro.
love you too! lol
These MVs that tells a story are the best.
Touky is underrated imo. His metaphor is on par with deathrhyme. He got those poem og hit lines. My favorite is “when they call butterflies to collect soul.” Mic drops… 😲
Its like when DeathRyme was in his Prime but Touky brings it to another 2021 Level! Glad to see our younger Hmong Bros level up the Hmong music game
Touky knows shaman so using his experience in his metaphor kills every songs
If you can remember... Life is set already and you will always cross paths if it was meant to be and it will break your soul... Love the moments and cherish what time you had when they let you have that small moment with each other.
😥😎✌
I can't get over how clean that ending is! So satisfying! And Judy has such natural facial expression in every scene! Urgh I love this! Great job to everyone in this production and mv!
This man deserves more recognition for his talent! Visual is on point and so are the lyrics! Touky as a Hmong lyricist he’s just on a different level. Great job!
Thank you Touky and Kevin Phooj ywg Xyooj for such a well written and Beautiful/Sad song. This one really hits the parts of my heart that still remain. "You may love each other for a lifetime, but fate will say no. It's not meant to be." I guess that is why the hmong saying goes. "Cia lwm tiam wb mam rov los sib hlub dua yog muaj ntxim."
Touky never disappoints with his lyrics. 💕
I don't really cry for Hmong songs, but man, the lyrics and the mv. 😭😭😭 the back story of them, it made the video so much better too. 😭
Why is this guy so underrated?! Good job bro!
Stories like this between human and spirits always makes me so emotional 😭😭 This MV was so nicely executed between the storyline and the acting. Beautiful job done by everyone on this cast! The lyrics are so poetic and strong! Epic!!!
Such deep lyrics! Love the melody and the actors and actress did such a great job! I love how the song tells a story and the visuals paint it so beautifully. When the girl wakes up at the end and tears roll down her cheek…😢💔. Such heartfelt emotions…when she realized her past life and all she and him went through.
i said it before and i'll say it again....touky is such an underrated rapper....better than most these guys out there and his lyrics always hit so hard! never disappointed!
Wow this song is actually very good. My mom is a shaman and they used very Powerful words that shaman all used. I'm very impressed by the messages that was given. It's so good.
This song just killed "Dab Ntuj Hlub" Should be over millions of views already!!!!! Good shit Touky, Kevin, and LeeXeng!!!!!
I hardly ever comment on RUclips but this is freaking amazing…… not many will understand the true depth of this song and music video…. Truly truly truly beautiful work 👏 👏 👏
My heart broke at 3:20 & 4:19

I had to skip to that time slot and verify..."Oh it me!" heh

I'm pregnant ya'll.... why you guys gotta make me watch this on repeat and cry every single time I watch the music video
Fr fr! Lol. Same here!!
The scene where the war breakouts and they started running. The lady in the background jumped out and started running and her hat came off of her head and she quickly put it back on. Not sure if that was planned or not but it could’ve convinced me haha.
Damn… is it just me or that the lyrics, the video, everything about this MV brought me to tears… 😢
The song is really good ❤️ Star crossed lovers who are meant to be but can’t be together :( so sad…
This is amazing. From the lyrics to the melody to the storyline to the acting. I’ve been replaying it over and over. It even made me tear up at one point.
Can we get a Drama or a Movie with this... Touky and Kev.. Putting the Hmong Culture and Music on their backs!!! Love this!!!
The actor and actress did such such an amazing job 😭❤️

Wow this song is good. I can definitely feel the emotions coming from the actor and actress. 🥰❤️
Whoever put the English lyrics. 🔥🔥🔥 not that I don’t understand it, but so others can enjoy this too!
Damn, those powerful lyrics from the rapper. I'm in love with this song. His question to Siv Yis. Yeah, Siv Yis. You have love too.. Why you cut someone else's love? Lol ahaha
The lyrics 🔥🔥🔥 Not a lot of folks can use such lyrics in a song
We need a drama version!!!
I never got to speak Hmong because I didn't naturally learn it as I grew up. But piecing the story altogether because it actually ties up a lot with Hmong culture, makes this music video such an amazing piece. Good work!
It’s on replay! 🔥🔥🔥
I love EVERYTHING about this music video!
😍😍😍
Great job with the song and MV! The lyrics are so deep! ❤ love the Siv Yis line🔥🔥🔥
It's too bad those that don't know the hmong language won't be able to understand fully the beauty of the song.
My god was this emotionally good. ❤❤❤
You want to know the definition of 🔥🔥🔥. This is it ladies and gentlemen!! The type of mixture of cultures with this song is DOPE!!! Real talent here!! Good job!!
Keep the fire going! Regardless of how many Charter schools, this is the only way the language will be learnt and felt by the new generation.
Great job everyone! You guys did great! I almost cried when the girl woke up. 🥲
Omggg literally obsessed with this collab !! perfect rap, perfect singing vocals !!!

This song has really grown on me. The lyrics are extremely well written. Had this on loop for 8hrs. Lol. Still 🔥 every time
Everything was absolutely stunning and so well put together! 💕 I loved hearing the main male's prospective and the lyrics were so poetic and has so much beauty to it. Amazing work to everyone that was apart of this project!!! My favorite lines has to be at 2:48 - 3:01 😭
This song came on autoplayed and it’s becoming one of my new favorite this year
The ending got me teary a little, this was good 👍 Great job you guys!
I had to stop cleaning to watch the MV. I didn't regret it 😭😭😭
I had a vision like this when i was young but then my grandma ua neeb and i dont have it anymore felt this song ♥️
Damn!
I haven't been listening to Hmong songs for a while (at least 1 decade). Your song speaks to my heart. So I've decided to tune back to my Hmong roots. The eighties and nineties songs always had great meanings to their songs (e.g. touly vam khue, pov thoj, luj yaj etc). Your lyrics brought that missing link to this generation. The beat, the scenery and acting flows with your music and lyrics. Keep up the great work. About time we had decent meaningful music.
I love everything about this MV ❤
Luag txheev luag ci, Npauj npaim tawm tuaj npauj npaim yuav tu tis 😮😮😦. Wowww
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Beautiful lyrics very touching 😢😭
Great job to everyone!!!
Love the storyline. Great rapping and singing. Along with such a beautiful melody. Actor and actress did a great job with their emotions. I enjoyed it a lot ❤️
Jack did a great job filming and editing the video!! ❤️❤️
You young Hmong men and women are so amazing.. What a beautiful poetic song.. The story line was heart felt. I cried. Keep it up. So proud of our young Hmong generation of performers.
Best Hmong MV by far...keep it up. Lyrics are straight FIRE.
LOVE THE LYRICS, THE TWO ARTISTS, THE ACTORS! LOVE THE VOICES AND EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. ❤
Been listening to this song on repeat since it released! Love it!
This song needs 10mill view. Great actors and on point. ❤❤❤
I love this video and song so much, I want everyone to fully understand the importance of this video's information; so I'm going to try and explain to the viewers out there that are either not Hmong, or are not familiar with the Shamanism Religion. SPOILER: VERY LONG COMMENT. I also wanted to clarify some things about Shamans that may have been portrayed incorrectly in this video; please forgive me if my understanding is different from yours. To start, I've been a “Hwj Sawv” for ~15 years now, so while I may not know everything, I might be able to shine a light here and there on the misrepresentation. The purpose of this comment is only for information, nothing to hate on the artist or this dramatization:
I love how the videos starts out with a normal scene with the antagonist walking peacefully down the steps; it hides the fact that he is the main antagonist in the video. He then sees his lover (the abducted person’s soul) sitting at an empty table; the viewers than are allowed to scan the background which beautifully displays several couples walking around. (This information is critical since in a real "Jingle Bell" ritual (the name we give to a Shaman’s ritual), spirits/demons will always dramatize the scenery as normal as can be to confuse the unsuspecting person making them believe everything to be true. However, it is ironic that there are so many couples hanging out in front of one single building, hence, the building is the gateway which houses the demons and protects them from mature Shamans, more on this later.) We also see that their time takes place in a modern setting; the setting also takes place more likely in the States, hence the stylishness of clothing, furniture, fountain in front of the house, and the building style of the house including the AC unit on the second floor window. There is also a stone path with steps leading to where our lovers sit in front of the camera. Notice the elegance of the building and the influence it has to attract so many “people” to it, yet, there is a neglect on lawn care- now this may be what Touky intended demonstrating the mischief acts of spirits attempting to camouflage reality with beauty, however, like humans, they are not perfect and as a result, we see the unkept weed control.
The second scene quickly takes us to a deserted wildlife setting with many forest life everywhere, which details the transition that usually takes place in dreams. (You know, sometimes you dream one scene, then all of a sudden you’re at a different scene, but you don’t question it, it just makes sense. Well, in the spirit realm, spirits also do this- A LOT. It causes confusion and forces the person to fully put their trust in the spirit’s guidance, which normally leads deeper into the realm of the dead until the person is too far gone and expires in the real world.) Did you notice? The path they walk no longer has any stone pavement; this is important because it details that the spirit has taken the person from the States to now closer to where he wants her to be, which we learn later it’s somewhere in Asia (Laos). Spirits has a tendency to always lead the person of interest towards their birth place, even if it’s in a different country. In this scene, the viewers are introduced to a masked man, whom blurs between the line of hero and villain; his appearance startles the couple and they stop dead in their track.
You can tell the horror the couple feels as their facial expression changes drastically, However, most Hmong people would be able to identify the masked man as the Shaman, or the Protagonist, mainly because he dons the Jinglebell Ring. The Shaman’s first action is to exchange the paper in his hand for the girl, where we see the spirit denying the transaction. (If you guys are wondering why a Shaman would think such transaction would work, paper for a soul? It’s because, folded inside the paper, is also a cutout of a human figure; in which transforms into a human dummy in the spirit realm that looks identical to the abducted soul.) The dialogue between Shaman and Spirit is lost in the music, but normally it goes something similar to:
Shaman: This is the real girl that you want, the one you want is a dummy, Trade me the dummy for the real girl.
Spirit: No, I have the real one; you have the fake one, I do not want that one.
The conversation would lead to many more clever ideas from the Shaman to manipulate the Spirit into believing his trade to be more valuable than what the spirit currently has- in the real world, this actually takes quite a while, especially because some spirits are very stubborn or merciless. With Touky’s understanding of Hmong Religion, it would have been nice for him to use CGI displaying both girls at the same time, similar to when he has one transformed into a pig- that would’ve served better for the actual trading scene.
Now comes the misinformation: Shaman’s don’t forcefully throw the pig at the Spirit like what was displayed. Livestock, such as pigs, are actually told to do a specific job and given a time to when the job expires. In which case, after a successful trade, the Shaman would pay the Pig Spirit (symbolizes as a powerful warrior/guardian in the spirit world) to stay behind and guard the gateway (that building at the beginning of the video), usually 1 year- at which time, the Shaman would quickly make his retreat back to the States with the girl’s spirit. However, in this case, since the trade is not successful, the Shaman would have called upon the Rooster- the rooster’s crow signals a lightning storm to scare off the Spirit, worst case-scenario, the spirit will be caught in the storm and killed. Shaman’s do NOT instinctively kill spirits as is displayed, ONLY as a last resort. While the video displays the Shaman as a very powerful being, it also displays the immaturity of this Shaman. The priority of the Shaman is to never let the spirit touch the kidnapped soul once saved/traded; of course, because the video wanted emotional dramatization, they allowed for the spirit to touch the girl’s spirit; thus, allowing for the spirit to transfer all her prior life’s memory back into her current self.
The scene then remanence their past life as refugee’s during the Vietnam War at a Hmong New Years’ celebration, where a raid eventually caused the demise of both of the lovers. The song’s title is called “Drop of Blood,” and so the scene portrays the trading of blood promises between the two lovers right before they die, usually as a promise for one lover to come and find the other lover in their next life cycle. In such case, we learn that the female lover was reincarnated while the male lover remained a spirit; however, to fulfill the blood promise, he comes to take her spirit to live with him in the realm of the dead since she cannot take him to live with her in the realm of the living. The scene ends with the spirit dying in her arms and turning into dust (spirits that are killed will never be reincarnated and are lost eternally). She is then teleported away by the Shaman; CORRECTION: Shamans do not teleport, they actually ride Winged Horses, and if the movie would’ve went on, it would’ve portrayed all the different realms and gates they have to cross until finally returning her to her body in the States.
The final scene depicts her waking up from a long dream which she could not physically be awaken from without a Shaman’s ritual; she is crying. In real life, if this was to happen, she will forever remember her past life and will cause conflict with her everyday life hence forth; why? Blame the Shaman’s immaturity and allowing the spirit to touch her after the trade.
Now some of you will now be asking, where does the pig and chicken come from? While the video does not share this information, especially since it has nothing to do with the song, but knowing the ideology would help people to understand the significance of the sacrificial animals: During a Jingle Bell, a pig is sacrificed to enter the spirit world and helps in guarding specific gates that aligns with the living and the dead; while the chicken is only summoned when difficulty arises. It was a long read, but hopefully, it was insightful for most of you guys, cheers!!!
Thank you for the in-depth explanation!!! I could.only decipher so little within the music video and lyrics, and after reading yours, it made so much sense! This is truly a masterpiece!
wow that explains a lot about what's actually happening when shaman is getting the girl back, thanks! makes me appreciate the video more
Thank you so much for these valuable information. I finally understand why shamans don't just go around killing spirits. After reading this, I now know it's because the slayed spirit will never reincarnate...
Wow! Very informative and truly interesting. That's very clear and now I have better knowledge of the Shaman's responsibilities in these types of performances.
Great write up!
