Great video Jay! You are correct, if you choose to do a starter fertilizer instead of straight nitrogen, we would either move the tubes to the middle or just put a single tube in the middle. I have done that in the past with good results and like you said, get the starter off the planter. I have found that with strip till, implement guidance is almost necessary. With new AutoPath from Deere, you would keep the Strip till bar, Strip Freshener and planter all on the same path. Thanks for the great video.
Hey thanks for letting us demo your tractor and that strip freshener! It was an awesome experience. It sounds like I should’ve had you in the video to explain things a little better! Lol I had no idea about the new gen 4 display with autopath. That would make things so much easier. There’s so much new technology coming out it’s hard to keep up!
We’ve ran a Yetter freshener for 8 years now and this is our first with the CC units (love them). 32 and ATS mixed in with the strip works great with very good results. We’ve done test strips for a neighbor in the past and you can see to the row where we freshened the strips and where we didn’t. We also had a field we did a test in where the half we freshened out yielded the unfreshened side while also having a lower moisture content at harvest. That was in 2019 so not necessarily an average year. Ours is a 3 pt mounted bar with a tank behind on a lift cart.
We plant in those conditions too. Also have a 9420R on same tires. I have the same complaints abiut 4WD over the row crop tractor. Do you think 8360R would pull it at 2 inches?
I’m sure it would. It’s really not pulling hard at all. Couldn’t feel it behind that 9420, but of course that’s a 4WD vs front wheel assist. I’d be willing to bet our 305 magnum would pull it though. Just not fast enough, maybe 8-9 mph. That 8360R would be able to run in the 10-11 mph range pretty easy I imagine. Yup! 4WD tractors are great, they just aren’t row crop tractors.
As far as results go, our combine caught fire and we lost our yield sense for any good data. However we did see a decent bump in yield in spots for corn. Enough so we bought a freshener and it will be here soon. Videos will be coming out on our build and I will have better data this next year!
Hey just found the actual results on that corn. On strip-tilled corn on corn we saw a 3 Bushel gain on the freshened strips. Sorry for the late response!
Awesome unit Jay
Great video Jay
Awesome drone footage Jay
Glad you enjoyed it!

You are welcome, I appreciate the input.

I can't wait to see the results. We've planted the first field I had drone coverage of, it looks a lot better than the rows I didn't freshen!

That looks awesome.
Would you please post a result video? I’m really interested to see how it worked. Looking at buy a strip fresher for our farm.
