Because his mom and his real dad daddy kiryu told him too and if you think of him as the 5th chairman instead of the sixth he has the character 5 in his name technically if you broke his name down not that it actually means this in Japanese it has the characters for big 5 (Dai = great or big) (GO = 5)
Hey, NicoB. If you’re reading this or not but if you do. Akiyama’s combos are crazy! No seriously you can literally juggle enemies, even bosses too! Don’t believe me? Here’s a short video of Akiyama’s juggle: ruclips.net/video/eMB3TL_7MUU/видео.html
Fun Facts regarding this game: Back when Yakuza 4 came out, the series was not doing super well outside of Japan. The first game came out with a poorly managed localization, from translation to voice direction. Both 1 and 2 came out on the PS2 when the PS3 was already out and 3 came out with a ton of missing content. So the localization team decided to step up their game and localize 4 properly. What happened after words was, 4 ended up selling worse than the others, then came Dead souls. Sega thought this could have worked in the West and again, sold worse. Sega at that point said they were giving up on localizing Yakuza in the West. This of course really upset the fans that were in the West, and all hope seemed lost. Then one day in December of 2013, the Super Best Friends Play upload the first part of their Yakuza 4 LP. The playthrough was being helmed by Matt McMuscles, a new comer to Yakuza at that time, and Pat, a big fan of the series. It was his mission to show the world what Yakuza was all about. What followed was one of their most famous LPs and tons of people going out to buy copies of this game. So they introduced new fans to this series and made people aware of the state this series was in and the timing couldn't have been more perfect. This was around the time Sony started the #buildingthelist campaign on twitter, a campaign that asked fans what Japanese games they wanted to see come over, Yakuza 5 and the HD collection were one of the most popular suggestions made. Sony would then reach out to Sega and asked them if they would help them bring Yakuza 5 overseas. They agreed to it and after 3 years from its initial release in December of 2012, Yakuza 5 would get a digital release on the PS3 in December of 2015. This would lead to 0 getting released here and the rest is history. Now I don't think the Super Best Friends Play were the only contributing factor in this, but they were definitely one of the biggest one that led to this series getting it's second chance in the West and I don't think Sega or us could be any happier for it. Now these games are getting dubs, selling super well for Sega, and now with Ishin finally coming over, I think it's safe to say RGG and fans are eating well. *Side note: Regarding the Sacred Tree Armor, while yes it is "weaker" than the bulletproof vest. Reading the description of the armor says, "Wearing the other Sacred Tree Items will make you IMMUNE to bullets". Basically you automatically block bullets when they're fired upon you.
Poor Daigo…considering what a snake pit the Tojo Clan is, I’d say he’s doing a fine job keeping it together at this point. Thing’s about as stable as a house of cards So just to clarify some things about the story so far, Kanemura enterprises, the family Kido is a member of, is a third tier organization of the Tojo Clan under the Shibata family, who they answer to. Since Arai seemingly killed an Ueno Seiwa man in cold blood, there has to be repercussions, so that’s why the Shibata family were after Kido in the last episode. Someone had to answer for almost starting a full on turf war. Also, not sure if you remember or not, but Kamurocho Hills (the construction contract Katsuragi wants from the Tojo) was the same building that Majima Construction worked on in 2/Kiwami 2! It also makes an appearance in 3 as an empty lot because I guess they restarted construction or something. So yeah, seems like it’s nearing completion after all these years finally. On a sad note tho, as Katsuragi pointed out to Daigo, the Nishikiyama Family is finally no more. On the one hand, it’s depressing to see Nishiki’s legacy slowly dwindle down to nothing, but on the other hand at least no other dickheads like Kanda can take over and make him look bad again lol. Katsuragi also mentioned how the Tojo lost the Hakuho Clan, which was Mine’s faction in 3. Losing Mine is a huge reason why the Ueno Seiwa is able to challenge the Tojo in this game despite being a much smaller organization, because the Tojo depended on the profits the Hakuho brought in. I love Saigo, he’s such a funny side character lol. His over dramatic war stories are great. However, some of his training, suicidal shooting especially, can be VERY annoying lol. Highly recommend stocking up on staminans before attempting them. That being said, the skills you get from him are well worth the effort, so your suffering won’t be in vain! Oh yeah, substories with cutscenes make a return too! I like how Akiyama is filthy rich but still draws the line at swimming in your cash like Scrooge McDuck lol
Poor Daigo sure has it rough, even though he's doing all the right things a good leader should in these types of situations. But in the end you can't get away from such slimy and twisted people who are full of nothing but greed, as well as pettiness to see you crash and burn. It really is sad how Nishiki is being written off like that, especially cause we don't hear about him that much with each game. But at least in some ironic way his "legacy" is reborn later down the line. I think Nico made Saigo even funnier for me because of his ad libs. I couldn't stop laughing at times. 😂 I look forward to more sub stories with Akiyama and co., and now feel like the money bath could have been a reference to Scrooge now that you brought that up. 😆
I really do feel like Daigo gets the worst rep from the RGG community. Daigo wasn't some guy who was brought in because he was the best man for the job. Daigo is effectively that CEO who gets hired after the last guy screwed things up so badly that it almost destroyed the company. Seriously, try running a company where every year there is a major scandal that involves most of your senior employees either dead or in jail and see how long YOU can keep the company going.
Mine really shouldn't have killed himself. He could have been such an aid to Daigo as a reformed ally instead of sabotaging him post-humously like this.
The more the series goes on we see how much of a sinking ship the Tojo Clan is which is reflective of how the yakuza are in real life. It peaked in the old days but as society progresses more laws are made to restrain the yakuza and crack down on them to where many organisations are shut down or them struggling to make ends meet. As much as we like to meme on Daigo for being incompetent and relying on Kiryu to save the Tojo Clan, it is Kiryu's fault for making Terada/Daejim Kim and now Daigo 5th and 6th chairmen of the Tojo and just leaving them to figure things out on their own immediately at the end of Yakuza 1/Kiwami. From Terada's self sabotaging of the clan due to being secretly a Jingweon survivor out for revenge on the Tojo causing events of Yakuza 2 to Daigo's young age and lack of experience in leading the clan, where being in a coma during Y3 caused so much mayhem among the lieutenants. Sure Kiryu had Majima act as support for Daigo in Y3 (by forcing him as he did with Daigo in Y2) but even that can only do so much as Majima is more attack dog than a reliable pillar. Goes to show that Kiryu didn't have much foresight with the consequences and Mine was sort of right about Kiryu abandoning the clan in it's time of need. As sad as it is, Mine kind of had to die in Y3 as he was too competent in the Tojo Clan as back in Y3 he was pretty much the treasurer of the Tojo that kept them afloat. If he stuck around after being redeemed by Kiryu, he would have been so vital to Daigo and the clan that there wouldn't be much conflict like this to where the Tojo is struggling with insubordination as well as money with Daigo having to bend over to make amends for the likes of the Ueno Seiwa despite outranking them. The loss of Kashiwagi being a mentor to Daigo also hurts.
You're right as much as it would suck, Y4-6 probably wouldn't happen if Mine was still around. Tojo wouldn't have money issues and since he was so loyal to Daigo, any future backstabbers would just join alongside Kanda.
Thank you for putting all of this into perspective! It was really strange to me that Daigo was bowing and scraping to Joe Nobody, but now I understand why.
23:23 Saigo: Don’t worry. This machine gun is loaded with rubber bullets. Akiyama: You know rubber bullets can still kill people right? Saigo: Shut up. Eat rubber b*tch! Akiyama: AHHHH!
Fun fact for the quicksteps: The remaster of Yakuza 4 has a bugged quickstep mechanic which causes them to dodge only half the distance they're supposed to. There are mods to fix that issue, but if you're wondering why they feel so short...this is why
@@MugdhaMahdiShams Y3’s Remaster on PC had the cut-in-half distance like Y4 does, while the PS4 version had the doubled quickstep distance, I believe. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, though!
I fucking love Daigo. Unfortunately, we are at that game where people don't seem to get the position he's actually in and just interpret it as "He's such a bad leader! He shouldn't have been chairman!" Ugh. I will never understand this...
Lets goooo im so glad cuz don't get me wrong I do think it's kinda funny to rag on him, BUT WHEN YOU ACTUALLY CONSIDER all of the moving parts here and the position he was forced into, not to mention how the tojo CANT STOP falling apart like it LOVES CHAOS or smth, like dudes doing FINE, hell as much as I adore kiryu he was easily the tojos worst chairman as the only thing he ever actually did was put a guy into power who almost took out the clan through self sabotage
@@StefKa02 Haha! Well, I didn't want to make a super long comment or risk hinting at some future stuff XD But I get you! I'm the same way. Daigo is actually my favorite character in the entire series. So sorry for what's coming but since you seem okay with it: *deep breath* I never understood where the memes and jokes like "Daigo is useless and keep calling for Kiryu's help like a baby! Kiryu can't catch a break and always gets dragged into stuff because of him!" came from since he actually never really calls Kiryu for help (like seriously, Kiryu never really gets dragged into the Tojo Clan's mess because of Daigo so why people always say it's Daigo's fault? I don't get it. If anything, it's Kiryu who dragged Daigo back into the Tojo Clan's mess in the first place XD Daigo didn't even want to come back. Then he made Majima, another guy who had left the clan and didn't want to come back, return to the the Tojo to help and guide Daigo in his stead so he could continue his life in Okinawa? Like, don't get me wrong, I *adore* Kiryu. But! People tend to ignore a lot of his flaws and mistakes and somehow shift the blame onto other characters, like Daigo, and it kinda pisses me off, sometimes XD) Like, seriously: Yakuza 0: Yeah, he gets kidnapped, but he's literraly a kid? A really sweet kid (according to Kiryu himself) who's acting unusually out of line because of how lonely he feels. Yakuza kiwami 2: Like I said, Kiryu's the one who dragged him into this in the first place. And can we take a second to aknowledge that Daigo was a kid when his father died and he thought for more than 10 years that the guy who did it was his childhood's hero? That must have been freaking traumatic. Yakuza 3: Kiryu gets involved on his own, to protect his orphanage (and Daigo litterally did everything he could to prevent Kiryu from being involved in it, even if it meant losing a lot of money and making ennemies inside the Tojo itself.) I'll stop there because of spoilers but I'll just say that Daigo is also NOT the reason Kiryu gets involved in whatever comes next, so... *shrugs* As for right now, in Yakuza 4, yeah, he definitely isn't at his best. But, the man got shot, got into a coma and then, saw Mine kill himself right in front of his eyes when he woke up. Then he had to learn that Kashiwagi had died while he was asleep, plus all the other shit that happened in 3. And he came back to take care of a clan barely standing on it's last legs, with most of their important figures dead or sent to prison, the disappearance of the Nishikiyama family and most importantly, the Hakuho clan. Because if the loss of Mine wasn't already heavy enough for him, it was also thanks to the Hakuho clan that the Tojo was able to stay afloat. Now, he's stuck in a very difficult position, with barely anyone left whom he can trust, and on the brink of a war with the Ueno Seiwa who are being very difficult. The most "reasonnable choice" would be to give up Arai. But no one knows where the guy is, so, tough luck! Anyway, I'll stop here because this is already long enough and I don't think I can elaborate more without spoiling things from now on XD But that was my overall thoughts on Daigo so far in the series! I love him, he has a good heart, he's charismatic, smart, he cares about his men and he definitely deserves better!
Japanese flip phones (not sure if smartphones have it) have an infrared data transfer function for exchanging small bits of data like contact info or photos. That's because they had flip phones for quite a bit longer than the West, bleeding into the smartphone era so they tricked them out. The flip phones also texted with email addresses if I remember correctly, so it's much easier to store the data. I think it's the same texting system even now.
Extra little fact, he was once married to Tanaka Rie, who did a lot of Voice acting in Japanese, But most of the notable ones were Mitsuru from Persona, Lisa from genshin impact, and Neptune in the Neptunia series [Nico, Please play the series, I had a few laughs from it] however, the two broke up some years ago, so there's that. [If they didn't, feel free to correct me, helps alot]
Now you're starting to see a major consequence of Mine's death from the last game. He was pretty much the majority profit holder for the Tojo Clan, and once he was gone the only major thing of worth the Tojo Clan had left is Kamurocho Hills. So on top of already struggling to lead the clan as is, Daigo now is burdened by crushing financial problems that were so great, it allowed, as Katsuragi so quaintly put it, "A man of a branch family" to get leverage over the Patriarch. Daigo gets a lot of crap but when you really piece together all he's had to hold together without Kiryu's help, he's honestly doing the best he can. EDIT: Also RIP to the Nishikiyama family. Yep, after the last game, the last embers of Nishiki's ambitions and struggles have finally been snuffed out.
Eh, Guy was a jerk and deserved the death if im honest. I don't care if he protected Daigo or saved us from that american black monday agent. He destroyed the whole orphanage, threatened kiryu's children, got Riki killed, and practically tried to kill kiryu every step of the way.
(Reposting again bez youtube be dumb and cant see comment) *Important Notes:* It’s Saigo! And if you can tell by now, *_this guy is a pain in the butt._* He was _intentionally_ made to be as dumb as he is FYI. *Fortunately the other trainers do not have this problem as they are pretty fair in comparison.* Anyways, want some tips? *First,* the move you just learned from Saigo is one of my most favorite Akiyama moves called “Dash Kick”. This skill is _amazing_ as most enemies don’t know what to do against the move so you can run up to one and hit them with a dash kick while their guard is down. Its sequential upgrades makes it a *dmg dealer and can hitstun them backwards, meaning you have little threat of being attacked back.* It is an incredibly safe move that does a decent amount of dmg, definitely a steal of a skill. I should also inform you to use any lockers keys you pick up if you did. *Characters do not share locker keys or inventory space so if you picked up a key and didn’t open that locker, you will be UNABLE to open that locker with another character as they can’t own that key anymore.* Last thing, all characters share unlocked completion rewards and you can’t obtain multiple of the same completion rewards as you have to *delete the reward on that specific character first to have someone else pick it up.* Don’t worry about getting a full set right away, you can get them for free again with any character as long as no one else has it in their inventories. *(I recommend you just throw away the chestplate of the tree armor bez of this due to you not needing it rn)* Those free gray item boxes were japanese DLC made free in localization. They were a staple until the dragon engine came about. *They do not count as completion rewards so if you claim one, you can’t anymore for that save file.*
As someone also currently playing Yakuza 4, Saigo's training went a bit easier for me, but I spent so much time beforehand getting all the locker keys and such as I could, and I was able to make the twin dragon sticks weapon, which helped with blocking all the bullets. On the dodge mission, I didn't even have to dodge. I just blocked for the entire minute.
1:06:00 ah, the good old days of InfraRed transfer. Yes, before Bluetooth became common, IR was a viable option, but it required the devices to essentially be *very* close, not too unlike what they did here. So I'm like 99% sure what they just did was that
1:19:03: Yakuza Kiwami 2: NicoB and Kiryu weird out with a couple growup men wearing in baby diapers roleplaying as babies. Yakuza 4 Remastered: NicoB and Akiyama unfazed on a man in his undies trying to bath in money with his wife and daughter. (Which in Japan is not uncommon for families to share baths.) Needless to say... The whole 'Be My Baby' substory in Kiwami 2 beats the entire 'WTF' moment in Yakuza series so far.
Yep, Katsuragi is voiced by the same guy who voiced Kenpachi in Bleach. Shibata's voice actor's quite a bit of a long-runner, having work dating back to the 80s. Hochu Otsuka has voiced at least three characters from three separate Gundam shows, a bad guy in Zeta Gundam that also showed up in ZZ (Double Zeta) Gundam, a more heroic character in G Gundam and another heroic side character in Turn A Gundam. The dude's got quite a heap of roles and has actually worked with Majima's voice actor in G Gundam, as well.
Saigo: "Akiyama-kun. Seems like you get into fights nearly every day" Akiyama: "No, not really. The constant fights only started recently. Before this, people only pick fights with guys in gray coats" Saigo: "That so? What happened?" Akiyama: "I don't know..." *Akiyama looks at the camera* Akiyama: "It's almost like I became a video game protagonist"
"Did we go to the police station to talk to them even though we ran away from them earlier?" Yeah. I mean, they know where Akiyama lives and works lmao. Running away from them only does so much. Akiyama just had to make sure Kido and the office were OK first before he'd be fine going in for questioning, which is why he ran
I mean in Yakuza 3 we had Uvogin's VA. Yakuza can bring in the high profile ones, especially the males with deep gruff voices. It's been a while that Nico pointing out it was Zaraki's VA is what got me to recognize it. It's honestly such a good pick.
A Yakuza critique part 3 Stardust Kiryusaders Finally something to talk about, I won't go into too much detail but essentialy i have a few issues with the scene with Daigo and Seiwa's captain, watching you play Y4 you start to pay attention to the story more (and in my case with more context) for starters the game decides to strip that scene of any context we had, remember, Arai was the one who got shot first, not the captain, he was also not supposed to be there since it's not his territory and finally while his dead might be a bit much it's really kind of insane that the Tojo is somehow the culpable one in this instance, not to mention how Katsuragi (Seiwa's capt) has the balls to even ask to kill not just Arai but ALSO Majima is just plain dumb, the reality is that the Seiwa is in trouble, they're the ones that need to apoligize, even if the Tojo does need to make up their loss that was their own fault, they don't need to sacrifice one of their own clan and the reality is the Seiwa is very much weaker than Tojo wich makes it even worse. TLDR Katsuragi is insane and the Seiwa is very much in trouble. The chase mechanic is pretty much like Y3 but with some minors improvements, not much to say besides the fact that I miss the chase music from Y3. I see you've met Saigo, yeah welcome to hell, sorry. "It doesn't feel like i'm playing on hard mode" don't worry you will feel it in the next 5 episodes.
I know everyone likes to meme on daigo for being a shit leader, but even if daigo wasn't leader the tojo would've still gone to shit because: 1. The tojo lost 10 billion yen and many of their best men in Y1 2. Terada made extra sure the tojo would not ever make a comeback in Y2 3. Mine and kashiwagi died, their most valued assests because they were keeping the tojo afloat I think that after all this time Daigo is doing his best in trying to sustain the tojo since all of them are deciding when to i fuck over the tojo
Twin dragon sticks block all attacks from all directions including bullets without using durability and can be obtained as early as chapter 2. Having trouble with suicidal shooting/combat? Get twin dragon sticks > hold L1 > profit Completely negates any and all challenge whatsoever
17:20 A wild Van Zieks is just strolling down the streets as that stray bottle hits him. He just catches it by the neck with two fingers and looks at it, V.Z: "Pray forgive the discourtesy, but someone dares mimic the hallowed chalice with this cheap replica? I believe some discipline is in order." He just chucks it into the rooftops and nails Akiyama in the head. Akiyama: "Where the hell did that come from?!"
2:20 Since you seemed to have guessed the possibility of multiple characters, while I won't go into detail, I do wanna give one tip on that, without spoilers of course. You will end up needing a certain item to progress a certain optional thing you like doing. And it can be gained in two ways, either via a prize at Yoshida Batting Center or via a Locker. The batting center option is obviously more grindy so if you want to get the item from the locker, you wanna make sure *not to pick up a certain locker key that's on the outer wall of Shichifuku Parking Lot* (The one above ground, not underground) as Akiyama. Hopefully you haven't picked it up yet in this episode in which case #ripbozo. I kid, love ya. Edit: Oh you got the locker key already. WELP.....good luck on the Batting Center later 😆 Edit 2: 44:46 Well there weren't that many bikes in this fight. In front of the millennium tower is the best for this. But I assure you, breaking those bikes (and objects in general) do indeed give you more xp than killing enemies. Keep at it!
1:06:03 I think they were using that infrared tranfer thing japanese phones had, or maybe they do still have it I'm not sure. Come to think of it that seems like a really convenient feature, how come american phones never had it?
@@bumblebee9736 Really? It was my understanding that we didn't and the infrared was for quickly sharing email adresses because texting wasn't fully implemented in Japan or something along those lines I'm probably wrong.
@@NintendoSegaGuys Source : me, a 30 y/o european man, who didn't even had a cell during his school days, but caught a fad of those infrared ports/infrared sensors anyway, because every other classmate had a phone with those. So, i can't exactly speak for Japan, but you get the idea.
Japanese voice actors definitely do take their jobs seriously way more than English VAs. There definitely English VAs that do but a lot I've seen really don't take their jobs seriously like when the VAs (not gonna name any names) inject outdated memes and US politics that weren't there in the original and can be overall pretty unpleasant people to interact with on social media like being mean to fans or attacking anyone who disagrees with their views on things. If a Japanese VA acted like that they'd be fired from their current roles and possibly blacklisted. An example is the VA of that detective lady from Yakuza 2 being mean to fans getting fired from her role and that character being written off from the series.
Yeah, while adlibbing and having fun with a dub can create funny moments, it gives the show a very different feel from what is intended. I'm not afraid to name names by saying the "Love is War" Narrator is a victim of this. I like his lines out of context and granted they are funny, but having watched the dub and read the manga, it comes so out of left field that almost goes against what the Narrator is supposed to be, giving the scenes a very different feel to them
That and bad voice direction, like seriously I've heard good dub va's but when the voice direction is... interesting or deviates to how it is like compared to sub, it definitely affects how the lines are delivered. Example Yakuza 1 dub, you might already know thus, but Mark Hammil who voiced Majima in it, he's quite known to be a good va but how some lines are translated or delivered lacks something. Another instance of this is to compare Kiryu's eng dub va's performance in y1 and y7. You can really tell that the voice direction and lines are much better due to how before yakuza is most advertised as japanese gta, but now the localization team now knows the identity of the franchise so no more fast dialouge to sync with mouth animation and no more forcing to sound like gta or something. I like both eng and sub, as long as tje lines are delivered atleast decently and the story still makes sense/consistent, I'll be fine. Tbh, I also can't deal with dubs of foreign shows in my native language (I've been hearing the same voice actors since I was a child like 6 yrs old and I'm an adult now in my 20's) so I can see why most native speakers of english doesn't like it eng dub. Though I believe it comes down to how the loacalization/dubbing industry is since compared to Japan, my country can't compete ngl. Our voice actors here are also the actors you see in tv and it's them for every single animated foreign shows. The va industry here is not really known or a probable good career path where yhe va's doesn't have the same training or standard for voice acting compared to Japan imo. I don't think that our va's are bad, but there's definitely something that is lacking.
Welcome back to Yakuza! Where It’s been so long Nico has completely forgotten how to use the city map to see where things are, such as listed business like fortune tellers.
Saigo looks like one of Majima's Mr. Shakedowns but, like, smaller... "Watching you reminds me of that day...a guy with an eyepatch beat me for all I'm worth then I REALLY let myself go..."
Keep an eye on that sacred tree armor, Nico. Get all 3 of them and give it to your third playable character. It will relieve you of a lot of stress in his final fight.
The reason Saigo was on your ass during the Suicidal Running was because you didn't use the Quickturn (R1) at the corners. ...not unless the Remastered version of the game has that mechanic bugged like Akiyama's dodges.
The next day, that taxi driver was telling his coworker about the crazy story a man in a suit told him. Coworker: "If you ask moi, that story is tamer than a translucent one-eyed hamster. You wouldn't BELIEVE some of the things I've heard. By the way, have you heard about the newest serial killing spree?"
So the thing with the item packs... they're DLC. But, only in Japan. Over here, they just gave us these packs for free. Which is why they give you such good items so early. This is pretty much the case for every Yakuza
Akiyama, as you may have noticed takes scams differently than Kiryu did. He immediately takes notice and reamins suspicious of the people involved. Quite a contrast from Kiryu.
It’s time to learn new Yakuza memes/phase. “Goddamnit Daigo!”: use whenever Daigo somehow screw up Tojo clan or doesn’t keep his shit together. Trust me, you will use this phase a lot.
Yakuza 4 is a very easy game. Even on Legend difficulty its still mostly a cakewalk with all the upgrades. Its considered one of the easiest games in the series, so its why you may think you're not actually playing on Hard mode, but you are! Its just that the games not that hard.
@@SLKibara Nah, OG Y1 Amon will never be dethroned. It's an arcade quarter muncher-level fight. But a fair point to have, if you haven't experienced that.
Nico the bob stuff doesn’t share across inventories you getting everything on akiyama means the other characters will get nothing until basically the end of the game
Something feels off about what Katsuragi said when he was telling Daigo about the severity of Ihara's death; like too many convenient circumstances playing in his family's favor from these chain of events. First of all Ihara looked like a complete scrub to be that high up in the chain. And as Akiyama had pointed out once before with the new guy, there's a certain decorum you're supposed to follow in regards to territory for Yakuza. For somebody who moved to a prominent position as Lieutenant, he should have been aware of not making waves. Second is the curious thing he said when Akiyama subdued them at the Club, which was "This wasn't part of the deal". Saying that kind of thing gives me the impression he's likely roped into some kind of scheme that going on beneath the surface, and was only going along because he'd be compensated. And third is the coincidental circumstances of Kanemura's murder not too long ago. There's something very suspicious about the way Kanemura was found dead, and if my theory is right, it may be connected to two other events that happened recently; one of which involving Ihara.
No, Dragon Engine is a blemish, that only went away once they jumped on UE4 with the Ishin Remake. The only positive thing it brought is graphical fidelity (which took a couple of tries to nail down anyway, given how Y6 turned out), the combat became unimaginative and stale. I could explain further, but that's a couple of paragraphs in itself, so, whatever.
@@bumblebee9736 I see where you coming from but plenty disagree and still find the dragon engine very fun. LJ proves that even after a long time, they managed to create a really satisfying combat system that is more than up to par with past entries. Also, you're gonna have to deal with Dragon Engine for a while more since Gaiden and 8 are being developed in it I believe. RGG hasn't announced yet if they want to switch to UE5 fully for future entries. (I'll personally miss in-house engines, especially after all the effort they went through to polish the Dragon Engine, but I guess UE5's accessibility is hard to compete with)
@@StefKa02 I've "dealt" with it since its inception and Judgement (both) is no different. When i talk about combat being unimaginative, i think of general comboability being drastically reduced. Granted, half of that stuff was unintentional, but that's the beauty of it - you could actually spend time labbing. Besides karaoke, running into thugs on purpose to be able to discover, say, another Akiyama infinite used to be my favourite pastime in these games. But Dragon Engine took all that away by making combo strings sluggish, making enemies fly far away from you after connecting such a string and many other reasons i don't care to list, because this message is already turning into an essay. Beat'em ups used to feel like fighting games, i don't know why this has to change. No wonder some people were happy to jump on a JRPG train, when Y7 rolled out.
@@bumblebee9736 Thanks for clarifying, you certainly make some good points. I guess in some things we can agree to disagree since I don't think change is necessarily bad but I'd certainly like to see more games that feel like the earlier Yakuza games
Nico, a quick piece of advise. Stop collecting ALL of the locker keys with Akiyama. I know its stupid, but there is only one set of lockers in the game. Any items you collect as one character become unavailable to the others. There's also no way to transfer items to the other characters until almost the end of the game either.
Nico at start of episode: the combat feels like its normal mode Random npc teacher in distance: I'm going to make this mans feel hard mode....with guns!
Saigo's stories are always really funny. Once you get to play as other characters, go to the rooftop where Saigo is, you'll hear him say more funny stuff to other NPCs around him.
Wait, that guy said 'lietenaunt'? But Majima was a fkn patriarch in Yakuza 3 and now he is a lietenaunt, what happenned? Also why nobody said a word about murder of Hiroshi Kanemura he was a fkn patriarch why nobody cares?
Those item packs that Bob was giving you have been in literally every Yakuza game. He just gives you a bunch of items that I think we're DLC shit in Japanese. Literally every single game has had that.
7:41 whenever kamurocho man pops up during battles I feel as if it's in the same vein as Florida Man Hell I think more weird shit happens to the average kamurocho man than the average Florida man tbh
My only guess as to why it feels like the beginning doesn’t feel hard despite being on hard is because you will have multiple characters to play as and thus their beginnings. They will all have to be somewhat easier so as to get you accustomed to their combat styles.
I feel like Gintama both ruined and elevated Fumihiko Tachiki for me. Because while other people hear Zaraki Kenpachi, Ikari (Evangelion) or Akainu (One Piece), all I hear is the main man and near-eternally unemployed MADAO. 🤣 (You'd love him, Nico.) (Also hilarious he's opposite of Houchu Ootsuka, who people know as Jiraiya [Naruto] or Braige/Xigbar; in Gintama he's Abuto). I seriously can't wait to hear who else is in the Yakuza games, as it feels like I'll inevitably see most Gintama characters here; with one of the main characters playing as Haruka. 😄 Which is ironic because of how the anime feels a lot like Yakuza's setting at times (both in main story and sub stories), but with a historic and sci-fi theme full of crazy parodies.... Which in retrospect, also tends to happen in Yakuza. 😂
Shooting training and suicidal shooting training seem to be both suicidal to me. Only an insane person would agree to being shot at in the name of training.
Its not pronounced "Utsumoshi". It's "Utsunomiya". Ut-Su-No-Mi-Ya. There's no shi sound in there at all. I know that you're bad at pronunciations but I'm sorry this one is really bothering me lmao
The intro is so damn funny nico I bet when you see kiryu he will (say sorry nico I was busy competing in majimas smash bros contestant with every yakuza character even dead ones and future ones!
The guns are what I consider to be the most annoying obstacle to face in this game. They deal a lot of damage and can easily stun lock you, and dealing with multiple gun guys becomes a real pain in the ass.
wait that doesn't makes sense, if a gun is fake, shouldn't it not work? you can't have it in between. Wouldn't it make more sense if let's say, the bullets were fake, Like pelets or Rubber?
I don't believe for a second that Ihara was actually a lieutenant (think Kuze, Awano, and Shibusawa in 0). It's awfully convenient that he "just happened to get promoted" right before he died, and unless I'm misremembering, he never mentioned it during his confrontation at the club with Akiyama and Arai. A blowhard like Ihara definitely would have tried to throw his new weight around in that moment - and more importantly, if he really was as promising as Shibata said, he wouldn't have made the boneheaded decision to shoot Arai. That's two-bit thug thinking, as we saw in the contrast between the savvy Kido and his green-as-grass underling a few scenes prior.
I like how you were humming As It Was by Harry Styles when you were running away from Saigo. It seems that you still have knowledge when it comes to the current hits of pop from this era. Also, now that I'm hearing his voice, Katsuragi is definitely voiced by the guy who does Kenpachi. Nice catch, Nico!!
Something about the combat in this game: use your dodge to circle around enemies to the back. This was also the way to do it in 3. Especially gun enemies can be a nightmare if you try to take them head on.
*Saigo appears* Me, who's done his gruelling list of 'training' in my playthrough: Oh God.. not again.. He's such a funny character but fhllgf- his section was the first part of the game I had to do in Easy mode because GOD are they annoying 😭 especially the shooting oh good god
If Nico equipped his swat plate instead of his initial equipment with 0 Bullet def maybe Saigo would be slightly more easy (AND I MEAN SLIGHTLY SINCE HIS TRAINING IS STILL ANNOYING!)
(A little late) but that's who Arai reminded me of; Kashiwagi. Level-headed, responsible, and "cool uncle-type" who felt appropriate to be a natural-born leader.
Daigo: Okay seriously, why did I take this job?
DAMN YOU KIRYU!
Well, it's a respectable job at least
Until when will you do the gameplay of professor layton vs ace attorney?
Fun Facts regarding this game:
Back when Yakuza 4 came out, the series was not doing super well outside of Japan.
Clips from that LP and thier playthrough of 0 were what got me interested. It's also how I discovered SBFP. I miss the old days.
Nice trivia. Hope it's comment of the day.
SKY CRIMES!
As far as I remember, Yakuza actually topped the list.
Pat and Mat did it. and here I thought Pat's crazy talk was just for show
Poor Daigo…considering what a snake pit the Tojo Clan is, I’d say he’s doing a fine job keeping it together at this point. Thing’s about as stable as a house of cards
So just to clarify some things about the story so far, Kanemura enterprises, the family Kido is a member of, is a third tier organization of the Tojo Clan under the Shibata family, who they answer to.
Really if his training weren't so annoying I'd find him funny too. Now I just want him to go through Mondo Oowada's execution over and over.
Yep, poor Daigo indeed. There's only so much you can do to keep a sinking boat afloat...
I look forward to more sub stories with Akiyama and co., and now feel like the money bath could have been a reference to Scrooge now that you brought that up.
You make a good point, I've always been disappointed by Mine dying but many of the games' stories simply wouldn't work with him in the picture.
Ironically, it actually helps make Mine an even BETTER antagonist. As everything that happens after his death kinda proves that he wasn’t wrong
Thank you for putting all of this into perspective! It was really strange to me that Daigo was bowing and scraping to Joe Nobody, but now I understand why.
@@Swishyhead Yeah Daigo is restrained by the politics of Yakuza "honour" against these snakes. It's because of what Kiryu imparted onto him back in 0.
Loved how Sugiuchi tells Akiyama to stay indoors for his safety and not a few minutes had passed, he's already out with a client. XDD
23:23
Saigo: Don’t worry. This machine gun is loaded with rubber bullets.
Akiyama: You know rubber bullets can still kill people right?
Saigo: Shut up. Eat rubber b*tch!
Akiyama: AHHHH!
Daigo: “Why did I let Kiryu make me do this shit?”
Fun fact for the quicksteps: The remaster of Yakuza 4 has a bugged quickstep mechanic which causes them to dodge only half the distance they're supposed to. There are mods to fix that issue, but if you're wondering why they feel so short...this is why
So Yakuza 3 had too much Quickstep and Yakuza 4 has too little
Still no Patch?
@@mechashadow I'd be surprised if they were to ever patch it. Again, there are means to mod it out and it's not very hard
Yeah there are mods... ON THE PC VERSION
@@MugdhaMahdiShams Y3’s Remaster on PC had the cut-in-half distance like Y4 does, while the PS4 version had the doubled quickstep distance, I believe. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, though!
Another Yakuza bad guy in the tojo clan: I want money and power and look evil
Daigo: Ah shit, deja vu
But he not from the tojo clan, just another clan that they have close relationship with.
But he not from the tojo clan, just another clan that they have close relationship with.
"nah it's ok we're using fake guns"
Akiyama: WELL THAT SURE AS SHIT LOOKS LIKE REAL BLOOD!
I fucking love Daigo. Unfortunately, we are at that game where people don't seem to get the position he's actually in and just interpret it as "He's such a bad leader! He shouldn't have been chairman!" Ugh.
I will never understand this...
Hell yeah! I'd love for you to elaborate, I need to see more Daigo lovin'
@@jordansorensen3906 doesn’t matter
Kiryu is good at fighting; Daigo isn’t
@@pn2294 why be good at fighting when you have a cutscene gun
@@StefKa02 Haha! Well, I didn't want to make a super long comment or risk hinting at some future stuff XD But I get you! I'm the same way. Daigo is actually my favorite character in the entire series. So sorry for what's coming but since you seem okay with it:
*deep breath*
I never understood where the memes and jokes like "Daigo is useless and keep calling for Kiryu's help like a baby! But! People tend to ignore a lot of his flaws and mistakes and somehow shift the blame onto other characters, like Daigo, and it kinda pisses me off, sometimes XD)
Like, seriously:
Yakuza 0: Yeah, he gets kidnapped, but he's literraly a kid? A really sweet kid (according to Kiryu himself) who's acting unusually out of line because of how lonely he feels.
Yakuza kiwami 2: Like I said, Kiryu's the one who dragged him into this in the first place. And can we take a second to aknowledge that Daigo was a kid when his father died and he thought for more than 10 years that the guy who did it was his childhood's hero? That must have been freaking traumatic.
Yakuza 3: Kiryu gets involved on his own, to protect his orphanage (and Daigo litterally did everything he could to prevent Kiryu from being involved in it, even if it meant losing a lot of money and making ennemies inside the Tojo itself.)
I'll stop there because of spoilers but I'll just say that Daigo is also NOT the reason Kiryu gets involved in whatever comes next, so... *shrugs*
As for right now, in Yakuza 4, yeah, he definitely isn't at his best.
Anyway, I'll stop here because this is already long enough and I don't think I can elaborate more without spoiling things from now on XD
But that was my overall thoughts on Daigo so far in the series! I love him, he has a good heart, he's charismatic, smart, he cares about his men and he definitely deserves better!
ah yakuza life. where giving someone the finger can be a form of apology.
Fun fact, Akiyama's voice actor, Koichi Yamadera, is also the voice of Donald Duck, Mushu, Beerus, and all the Monokubs,
All monokubs? Even monophanie? Wow.
And Silva Zoldyck, Killua's dad
Wait really I get beerus but the monokubs(even the girl one?) and Donald duck.
Remember when Nico made that offhand comment about Cowboy Bebop? Turns out Koichi Yamadera is also Spike Spiegel.
Nico: I noticed this game is not kicking my ass.
A minute later: So I'll be using a machine gun.
Saigo: You want ass kicking? *Loads Gun with malicious intent* here's your ass kicking!
23:26 hehehe... you get it if you get it.
(Reposting again bez youtube be dumb and cant see comment)
*Important Notes:* It’s Saigo!
*Characters do not share locker keys or inventory space so if you picked up a key and didn’t open that locker, you will be UNABLE to open that locker with another character as they can’t own that key anymore.*
Last thing, all characters share unlocked completion rewards and you can’t obtain multiple of the same completion rewards as you have to *delete the reward on that specific character first to have someone else pick it up.* Don’t worry about getting a full set right away, you can get them for free again with any character as long as no one else has it in their inventories. *(I recommend you just throw away the chestplate of the tree armor bez of this due to you not needing it rn)*
Those free gray item boxes were japanese DLC made free in localization. They were a staple until the dragon engine came about. *They do not count as completion rewards so if you claim one, you can’t anymore for that save file.*
Now I'm worried if ToddlerTube will hate you for typing an uncensored "ass".
Shibata was mentioned and seen in a flashback in Yakuza 0 during the very start of chapter 4
Oh my god, THAT'S Shibata?! Suddenly this cutscene with Daigo makes a lot more sense.
1:06:00 ah, the good old days of InfraRed transfer. Yes, before Bluetooth became common, IR was a viable option, but it required the devices to essentially be *very* close, not too unlike what they did here. So I'm like 99% sure what they just did was that
1:19:03:
Yakuza Kiwami 2: NicoB and Kiryu weird out with a couple growup men wearing in baby diapers roleplaying as babies.
Yakuza 4 Remastered: NicoB and Akiyama unfazed on a man in his undies trying to bath in money with his wife and daughter. (Which in Japan is not uncommon for families to share baths.)
Needless to say... The whole 'Be My Baby' substory in Kiwami 2 beats the entire 'WTF' moment in Yakuza series so far.
Shibata was the one that directed the act that ended on Majima lossing one eye (Yakuza 0) and that may be the link between the story presented here.
@1:06:04 old Japanese cell phones have infrared sensors which allowed people to sent pictures to eachother.
2:08 Yakuza Zero: 17 chapters
Yakuza 1/ Kiwami: 13
Yakuza 2/Kiwami 2: 16
Yakuza 3: 12
Both Judgment games: 13
I'm getting some deja vu here....
Seems like you get into fights nearly every day"
Akiyama: "No, not really. The constant fights only started recently. Before this, people only pick fights with guys in gray coats"
Saigo: "That so? What happened?"
Akiyama: "I don't know..."
*Akiyama looks at the camera*
Akiyama: "It's almost like I became a video game protagonist"
"Did we go to the police station to talk to them even though we ran away from them earlier?"
Yeah. I mean, they know where Akiyama lives and works lmao. Running away from them only does so much. Akiyama just had to make sure Kido and the office were OK first before he'd be fine going in for questioning, which is why he ran
Saigo said he had energy drinks on the roof if you needed them. You didn’t need to use your items to heal.
I thought that too but he was referring to the Running Course
Nico: Man, am I even playing on hard? I'm barely taking any damage!
Yakuza 4: Oh? Is that so? You heard em boys! Bring in the machine guns!
I mean in Yakuza 3 we had Uvogin's VA. Yakuza can bring in the high profile ones, especially the males with deep gruff voices. It's been a while that Nico pointing out it was Zaraki's VA is what got me to recognize it. It's honestly such a good pick.
A Yakuza critique part 3 Stardust Kiryusaders
Finally something to talk about, I won't go into too much detail but essentialy i have a few issues with the scene with Daigo and Seiwa's captain, watching you play Y4 you start to pay attention to the story more (and in my case with more context) for starters the game decides to strip that scene of any context we had, remember, Arai was the one who got shot first, not the captain, he was also not supposed to be there since it's not his territory and finally while his dead might be a bit much it's really kind of insane that the Tojo is somehow the culpable one in this instance, not to mention how Katsuragi (Seiwa's capt) has the balls to even ask to kill not just Arai but ALSO Majima is just plain dumb, the reality is that the Seiwa is in trouble, they're the ones that need to apoligize, even if the Tojo does need to make up their loss that was their own fault, they don't need to sacrifice one of their own clan and the reality is the Seiwa is very much weaker than Tojo wich makes it even worse.
I know everyone likes to meme on daigo for being a shit leader, but even if daigo wasn't leader the tojo would've still gone to shit because:
1. The tojo lost 10 billion yen and many of their best men in Y1
2. Terada made extra sure the tojo would not ever make a comeback in Y2
3. Mine and kashiwagi died, their most valued assests because they were keeping the tojo afloat
I think that after all this time Daigo is doing his best in trying to sustain the tojo since all of them are deciding when to i fuck over the tojo
Twin dragon sticks block all attacks from all directions including bullets without using durability and can be obtained as early as chapter 2. Having trouble with suicidal shooting/combat? Get twin dragon sticks > hold L1 > profit
Completely negates any and all challenge whatsoever

A wild Van Zieks is just strolling down the streets as that stray bottle hits him. He just catches it by the neck with two fingers and looks at it,
V.Z: "Pray forgive the discourtesy, but someone dares mimic the hallowed chalice with this cheap replica?
WELP.....good luck on the Batting Center later 😆
Edit 2: 44:46 Well there weren't that many bikes in this fight. In front of the millennium tower is the best for this. But I assure you, breaking those bikes (and objects in general) do indeed give you more xp than killing enemies. Keep at it!

I think they were using that infrared tranfer thing japanese phones had, or maybe they do still have it I'm not sure.
Come to think of it that seems like a really convenient feature, how come american phones never had it?
I mean, that's what phones used to have before Bluetooth, it's not restricted to just Japan.
@@bumblebee9736 Can confirm, as a 27 y/o Northern-European, that was how we transferred files between friends at school
You can still find models with that feature today, they can even work as a TV remote

OMG HI!
It doesn't seem to work for me either. The timing must be extremely tight in the remaster
It’s still in the remaster
The next day, that taxi driver was telling his coworker about the crazy story a man in a suit told him.
Coworker: "If you ask moi, that story is tamer than a translucent one-eyed hamster. You wouldn't BELIEVE some of the things I've heard. By the way, have you heard about the newest serial killing spree?"
Nico is such a youtube! I love him and his videos so much!
He truly is, the most youtube of all!
It's spreading...
I can't believe this has reached here. This is so youtube.
@@hafizhaekal1352 I’m scared
@@pablothecoffeelover2551 Don't be scared, they're pointing out how much of RUclips he is. Truly, what a RUclips.
I could imagine so - Akiyama does have a reason why he's more aware of this stuff.
It’s time to learn new Yakuza memes/phase.
“Goddamnit Daigo!”: use whenever Daigo somehow screw up Tojo clan or doesn’t keep his shit together.
Trust me, you will use this phase a lot.
Be nicer to my boi Daigo, he's trying his best 🥲Kiryu is partly responsible for the mess he is in
Yeah, Daigo's been dealt a really bad hand since Y3, most people that are loyal to him are dead after all.
Yakuza 4 is a very easy game. Even on Legend difficulty its still mostly a cakewalk with all the upgrades. Its considered one of the easiest games in the series, so its why you may think you're not actually playing on Hard mode, but you are! Its just that the games not that hard.
@@SLKibaraKomeda Levels of Bullshit
I mean, it speaks volumes, when the "Amon fight" (let's call it that for now) is still to this day the easiest one in the entire RGG-verse.

"this amount of money is worth killing for" poor choice of words, specially when saying it to a guy who can gather 30 mil in the same day.
Nico you said one of the funniest things without knowing it
Somewhat unrelated but would you ever want a Dragon Engine remake of these Remastered games? Or are you enjoying them overall as the way it is?
Yes, chases used to be that you had to hold forward. The autorunner was introduced later in the series. This was in Yakuza 3 as well.
Nico, a quick piece of advise. Stop collecting ALL of the locker keys with Akiyama. I know its stupid, but there is only one set of lockers in the game. Any items you collect as one character become unavailable to the others. There's also no way to transfer items to the other characters until almost the end of the game either.
Ah yes, time for the trial by fire via Saigo’s BS training begins.
Whoa careful there Kim, G not a T. 🤣
Why I not surprise what Saigo use machine gun. The only thing is missing is training minigun
Nico at start of episode: the combat feels like its normal mode
Random npc teacher in distance: I'm going to make this mans feel hard mode....with guns!
Also, Play Fatal Frame too
Saigo's stories are always really funny. Once you get to play as other characters, go to the rooftop where Saigo is, you'll hear him say more funny stuff to other NPCs around him.
Man, that scam sidequest was weird.
It was and it still is my favourite substory in all of Y4. There's only one that comes remotely close, but that's neither here nor there for now.
7:41 whenever kamurocho man pops up during battles I feel as if it's in the same vein as Florida Man
Hell I think more weird shit happens to the average kamurocho man than the average Florida man tbh
25:43 the gun training is preparing you for Dead Souls most likely
The fact there was a full blown cutscene for the silliest scam sidequest really is amazing
My only guess as to why it feels like the beginning doesn’t feel hard despite being on hard is because you will have multiple characters to play as and thus their beginnings. They will all have to be somewhat easier so as to get you accustomed to their combat styles.
Until when will you do the gameplay of professor layton vs ace attorney?
I feel like Gintama both ruined and elevated Fumihiko Tachiki for me.
Because while other people hear Zaraki Kenpachi, Ikari (Evangelion) or Akainu (One Piece), all I hear is the main man and near-eternally unemployed MADAO. 🤣 (You'd love him, Nico.)
(Also hilarious he's opposite of Houchu Ootsuka, who people know as Jiraiya [Naruto] or Braige/Xigbar; in Gintama he's Abuto).
I seriously can't wait to hear who else is in the Yakuza games, as it feels like I'll inevitably see most Gintama characters here; with one of the main characters playing as Haruka. 😄
Which is ironic because of how the anime feels a lot like Yakuza's setting at times (both in main story and sub stories), but with a historic and sci-fi theme full of crazy parodies....
Which in retrospect, also tends to happen in Yakuza. 😂
First time I saw Saigo I thought for SURE he was Majima’s other Mr Shakedown, Kenji Oe.
Ah, it's nice to see people suffer from Saigo's training. Seriously, whoever designed Saigo's missions is EVIL.
Shooting training and suicidal shooting training seem to be both suicidal to me. Only an insane person would agree to being shot at in the name of training.
Every time I hear Nico echoing Kiryu. The more I think it’d make a great ringtone.
Why does the Chase theme sound like "Number One" from Bleach!?
I thought it is read Sugi-uchi not Sugu-ichi
It is, Nico's just being Nico. 😅 Sugi-uchi is similar to Sugi-ura, so try thinking of it that way if it helps.
Its not pronounced "Utsumoshi". It's "Utsunomiya". Ut-Su-No-Mi-Ya. There's no shi sound in there at all. I know that you're bad at pronunciations but I'm sorry this one is really bothering me lmao
It's too late now, its been 5 yakuza games, this is our Ashina and Nahgi moment.
@@hiccupasterisk Like I said in the Discord, he sounds unsure about this one every time he says it, unlike with those.
Damn, I wasn’t expecting an early upload.
Doing the annoying training sections gets best armor or at least for one character best
Your training gun is fake yes, their guns however..

Gah! Now, that's a photobomb!
Yeah, yakuza gun play is infamous for the crap controls
Sorry for the Demands, Hey, Do you Like Airplanes?
If Nico says yes will u ask him to play Ace Combat?
I like how you were humming As It Was by Harry Styles when you were running away from Saigo. It seems that you still have knowledge when it comes to the current hits of pop from this era. Also, now that I'm hearing his voice, Katsuragi is definitely voiced by the guy who does Kenpachi. Nice catch, Nico!!
Something about the combat in this game: use your dodge to circle around enemies to the back. This was also the way to do it in 3.
Especially gun enemies can be a nightmare if you try to take them head on.
*Saigo appears*
Me, who's done his gruelling list of 'training' in my playthrough: Oh God.. not again..
He's such a funny character but fhllgf- his section was the first part of the game I had to do in Easy mode because GOD are they annoying 😭 especially the shooting oh good god
Just so you know with Mine death the clan has no money, so this is all Kiryus fault
If Nico equipped his swat plate instead of his initial equipment with 0 Bullet def maybe Saigo would be slightly more easy (AND I MEAN SLIGHTLY SINCE HIS TRAINING IS STILL ANNOYING!)
HEY, PLAY BUG FABELS FOR US
(A little late) but that's who Arai reminded me of; Kashiwagi.
Level-headed, responsible, and "cool uncle-type" who felt appropriate to be a natural-born leader.
Oh my god...
Oh yeah, I fucking hated that machine gun training when I first played it.
