I love the Bandai Star Wars model kits and the Stormtroopers most of all. So it's was little disappointing when I got the Clone Trooper together and it's wasn't as nice. That's a high bar though so saying that, I still dig it.

Thank You very much for your very informative videos and as such, I have successfully built the C3-PO and I have just received the R2-D2 and R5-D4 model kits. Just thought I'd inform you that I use a Google Translate app available on the Android or iPhone that can translate the various Japanese text to English. Use the Camera function and take a photo of the Japanese text, swipe which text you want translated and it will translate into English. It helped me quite a bit on some of the details of the build.

just a tip for getting the little ear parts off if you change your mind about the binoculars; use tape. if you get something like packing tape, stick it really good to the piece you want to take off, it works really well.
That's almost so simple that I hate myself for not thinking of it.

I really appreciate that. And like I always say, the build is half the fun. I may not have been completely happy with the finished figure here but it's still pretty awesome and I'm thinking of getting more eventually. And don't worry, I'll be reviewing for as long as I am able to still play.
Always love your reviews Fwoosh. I know Bandai probably had a hard decision to put accuracy over articulation, but I think they made the right decision.
After thinking on it for a day, I agree. Sure, I'd love to get all kinds of crazy battle poses, but really, if a real dude was in this exact set of armor he'd probably have the same range. I have a buddy in the 501st and he can't sit down and can barely raise his legs enough to walk stairs. It does look awesome up on the shelf and I can always use the Black Series to play in the mud and make battles, haha. Thanks for the love, I appreciate it!

I have 3 of these guys already! Of course they are phase 2, cause they look awesome. Something I noticed on the Black Series one, is the hips are too far out, the model kit looks more accurate and proportionate.
I have two and love them both. And you're right. The design itself isn't very articulation friendly but Bandai did a better job with it.

I do like building things but not action figures can you get one pre built?, Also I love the phase one troopers.
I think I’m gonna get the sh figuarts ones for army building (and animating) since they are pretty cheap right now.

I am completely a trooper guy so I say the clone. But saying that, out of all the Kylos I like the model the best. Still, get the trooper.

Just bought/ordered myself 3 of these clone troopers, im going to start troop building these to make myself a battle scene diorama.
These are perfect for that, but you may have to do some extra weathering here and there for a battle scene.

I just noticed on the phase 1 helmet, the two upper cheek pieces are overlapping the black "mouth" line slightly. looks pretty bad from the side IMO.
Is it possible to fix this, maybe trimming it just a bit?
Yeah, that's a separate piece so trimming is possible. Just need to be careful.
Due to the clone troopers being C.G.I the armor wasn't designed to be able to physically pose because it doesn't have any form with the original trilogy and first order troopers they are real costumes with people inside them on set so the armor is more posable for the person inside
That makes complete sense and something I didn't think of when I was going through it all.
The problem with mixing these and the Black Series and SHF is that they are all clones, so really there shouldn't be any size difference at all

Black Series phase 1 clone troopers are currently around 40 to 50 dollars. Right now BigBadToyStore.com this kit on pre-order for $27.99. My Hobby Lobby just recently got the Bandai Boba Fett model kit which is also currently on pre-order at BigBadToyStore.com, so I'm hoping they will eventually carry this kit too.
The animated version cg clone wars the phase 2 helmet has no brow trim

Haha, yeah, pain meds are good, but I'd much rather be able to sit down and play with toys without needing a nap every thirty minutes.
Could you use acrylic paint to make it belong no to a specific Battalion/Legion?
Oh yeah, definitely, these things are meant to be painted.
The phase 1 helmet i guess replicates how uncomfortable the phase 1 armor was thats maybe why it has less movement

I painted the blue. I couldn't stand not having one after getting yellow, green, and red. Huey, Dewey, Louis, and Phooey. That's why I didn't have a standard white trooper to compare the model kit to.

Check the link in the description. I get mine from a buddy overseas but I usually pick up extras and leter ones on Amazon. The price right now on Amazon is a little higher than usual but overseas shipping has also went up so it's probably going to affect prices from here on out.
So which clone trooper do you prefer, the figuarts, black series, or the kit?
The model kit. It's sized better than the Figuarts and more crisp and clean than the Black Series.
Is the Hasbro phase 2 trooper still exclusive to that amazon 4 pack? Or is it getting a single card release?
Still only in the 4 pack. Seems odd because they love doing troopers, could release it again in all the squad colors.

I just lvoe phase II clone troopers. The design is absolutely fantastic, it just oozes Star Wars'iness, hehe. I hope we will get a nice, matt figuarts version too but with updated body, because phase I is not particularly good when it comes to articulation. And then commanders! Neyo, Cody, Baccara! And Gree. Oh man, i want Gree so much. I wish Kotobukiya released him in 1/7 th scale.
Gree is probably my most wanted, I just dig the camo look so much. And I agree, the Phase 2s edge out the Phase 1s for me too.=, and the Figuarts Phse 1 wasn't really up to standard with the rest. It actually has less range of movement than this model kit and the Figuarts doesn't even have those straps on the elbows and knees. Insane.
by the way, do you think there is the slightest chance of figuarts Jango Fett to arrive with either Temuera Morrison headsculpt or interchangeable jet pack?
Verithiell I'm thinking it won't. Bandai is usually pretty precise when it comes to accessories in the promotional images and solicitations. I wish it did but I'm not holding my breath.
its a shame, because in one of the pics, they recreated kamino scene, and yet he doesnt even come with jetpack he used on kamino.
+Verithiell Even worse, they actually displayed an unmasked head at one of the overseas shows. I would love to get at least that since it would work on Clones ad such too.
what should i buy the death trooper or the clone trooper
I kind of prefer the Death Trooper. I like the clone but I guess the design just gets in the way of articulation and such just a little too much.

The model kits are a little more fragile than regular figures, but not fall apart in your hands fragile.
I really hope they take this model kit and make Rex or the Arc troopers.

Thomas Willis That has become a problem lately since we've really ramped up on the socials. VeeBee and I (Robo) post on the Facebook page and should probably label replies with our names.I have a personal Facebook page but it's mostly for family and friends. Here on RUclips I'm always the green background and do most of the replying. I usually reply to the Twitter. On Instagram we have the main Fwoosh account that we all post to but I also have FwooshRobo, and then there is FwooshPabs, FwooshVeeBee, FwooshProd, etc.
I hadn't thought about how confusing it all is until you asked. It's a big ol' team effort most of the time.
The hindrances actually make it more accurate to the Phase 1 Clone Armor which was clunkier and heavier than the Phase 2 Armor. (Lore explanation vids.)
Which is better if your choosing between the two? Model kit or Figuarts?
Model kit, mostly because of scale and the model being a bright white.

Feeling better today. I'm pretty used to this by now, it's a genetic thing. My dad gets them, I've gotten them for years. Sucks, but it's the hand I was dealt, haha. Nothing will stop me from playing with toys though.

Do all the joints snap in or are some just held together by friction?
They snap in, so when you swivel or bend they don't fall off. Except the hands, those are just held in with friction.
+The Fwoosh Nice! looks like these might be a cheaper alternative compared to sh figuarts for background trooper building :)
PowerJuiceIam Definitely work as background, they are taller than SHF so if you put them back they will still be seen over the main ones. Plus they look pretty cool, heh.
I really want to get a few of these kits but they're spiking up in price everywhere! $40-60 for a single kit when I can get every other kit for $20-25. Were they discontinued or is stock just running low and the sellers haven't received anymore kits yet?
They aren't producing them and stock is running low. I keep reading Bandai is phasing out the 1/12 model line. Evidence supports this since all we have been getting are repainted droid releases and nothing really new in a while.

Kidney stones suck mate. Never had them myself but my wife has to deal with them constantly. Since her kidneys are deformed and processes proteins and such weird, apparently she has some kidney issues to boot. Every few months we are in and out of the ER because she has issues passing them. They usually have to use ultra-sonic treatment to break them down into smaller pieces (hers get pretty big from the X-rays I've seen). problem is the treatments can lead to kidney damage. Hope you get better man. Good review, but being I was never that big of a fan of the troopers, I can pass on them. Wouldn't mind having at least two, maybe, for an evolutionary display but that's it.
Yeah, you need to get at least one, it's a good trooper figure. And I've been having stones for years, just like my father before me, haha. The first time I ended up in the ER and they didn't do the ultra-sonic thing, they went in with a claw hook and got it. I don't know if that's exactly what it was but that's what it felt like when I finally woke up. Recovery was worse than the stone. Never went back again although in those situations morphine is worth it, but gaaaahhh. Tell your wife she has my sympathy, really. That sounds worse than mine that only happens every year or so.
Just got my boba fett one super easy ti build took me a 1hr max 1hr and 30min so much more easy than the gundam model kits

Side to side as in tilt, or side to side as in a swivel to look left and right? There isn't a lot of tilt, a couple of degrees. But it does swivel all the way around. And haha, glad I could help lighten your wallet!
Can someone please explain to me why the S.H. Figuarts which also from Bandai is much more expensive compare to these? $50 vs these $25
Most of these were actually under $20 before the exchange rate changed. But these are hollow model kits that you have to assemble yourself. Bandai's factory essentially produces the sprues and throws them in a box. No inner blisters, no paint, no assembly, and a lot less plastic than the S.H. Figuarts, which requires all of those things at the factory.

Would the Phase 2 head fit on the Figuarts figure?
No, different pegs and the Figuarts head is waaay deeper. Plus Figuarts is kind of an eggshell matte white for their Troopers, the models are more of a stark gloss white.
I pulled the SHF Clone head off to check and barely got that thing back on.
Is it still worth getting for the Phase 1 trooper? Because I love model kits and the Phase 1 trooper is pretty much the one I grew up with. Hope you re able to reply soon ^^

Great review as always! I have a question about the model kits and specifically the troopers in general. Are they heavy? I mean do they have some weight to them like the black series or are they hollow? They look great but I'm an impatient bastard and I don't buy them. Also those schemes (which are unavoidable) are bugging me.
No, not heavy at all. They are hollow and light. It's actually kind of jarring at first because you expect a certain action figure weight and it's nowhere near that. But after doing quite a few I've gotten used to it. Saying all of that, they aren't fragile and hold their position on the shelf. Haven't ever had one fall over from breathing too hard or anything, haha. What do you mean by "schemes"?
By schemes I mean those lines under the forearms of the model. They are visible where you connect the pieces.
ΚΩΝΣΤΑΝΤΙΝΟΣ ΣΑΜΑΡΑΣ OH! Seams. Yeah, that's one of the things about the model kits that can be a little off-putting. There are usually seam lines on action figures too, but not gapped like this. AA lot of movement and they can spread a little bit, just gotta push them back together.

I would get 20 of the regular clone troopers. I want to get 20 of the tactical ops troopers and 20 of the shocktroopers. I want to get 10 orange clone troopers and Commander Cody. I would also get General Grievous with his four lightsaber attack and a blaster as a side weapon. It would be a total of 70 Clone Troopers all together.
That's a lot of clones!
