- Maryland's major-party candidates for governor clashed Wednesday in a debate that offered voters the first chance for a side-by-side comparison on key election issues. Maryland Republican gubernatorial nominee Dan Cox and Democratic nominee Wes Moore delivered their opening remarks. And then, the gloves came off as each candidate worked to define the other for voters.
This isn't a debate it's a panel... This is why debates mean nothing.
Debates separate the boys from the men, also the little girls from women.
Debates reveal if a candidate is qualified and ready to serve the taxpayers!

Good thing we're not voting for a public speaker but for a governor who can help to fix schools, economy, and crime. Moore's tongue is not going to do any of those.

Cox keeps trying to associate himself with Hogan. But, Hogan has clearly stated on multiple occasions that he does not like Cox.
Hogan is a rhino, and west moore is a WEF funded candidate I believe cox is the better choice plus i don't want to see maryland become the homeless, crime and drug addict pits that the other democrat lead governor states have!
This is one of the lies I was talking about -- he's no supporter of Hogan, and they are not at all aligned. During the pandemic, Cox couldn't beat up on Hogan enough because of Hogan's state-wide restrictions and vaccine mandates. Cox had lots of unflattering adjectives he loved to post to whip up his cult-like base, kind of like when he posted that "Mike Pence is a traitor." tweet. He's pandering to an audience, trying to ride the successful coattails of a popular governor, but much what he's saying does not jive with his history.
Jayne Miller was on Twitter calling Hogan out too but WBAL silenced her. Mighty funny how now she’s retiring

This guy stands there talking about abortion "rights" meaning the unrestrictive right to abort a baby right up til the 9th hour of the 9th month whereas it would more useful to talk about the rights of the baby. Everyone knows that in the Black community abortion is more represented than with any other group; some figures say that in NY City more black babies are aborted than those who are born. Founder of Planned Parenthood, Margeret Sanger openly wanted abortion to be used as a tool against the Black community. Why is this Black man running for governor talking "coded" language for elective abortion right up until the time of birth, I'll never understand. Maybe it would be better to hear him embracing life for the babies of his state, than advocating for death.

Exactly. This was hosted on THEIR terms. Moore unfortunately declined any other opportunity to debate Cox, which might have included a more balanced or a more conservative panel to ask the questions and moderate to hit back on Moore's lies and not cut off Cox's time.

A lot, a governor must and does work on national issues with the board of governors. The infrastructure bill was written by the bipartisan board of governors and then sent to congress and fought for it's passage.

@@briv2403 The problem with third party candidates is that they have to compete with the two party system so they are at a huge disadvantage, which is why many (such as Bernie Sanders for example) choose to run in one of the two parties.
Ignoring that, I would say candidates to the left of Democrats are good because they help integrate more socialized (COMMUNITY-based) programs which can improve voters lives, these could be programs which your average neoliberal might not be aware of or support without awareness being created. Some of the green party's agendas also would fall into this scenario.
Not to oversimplify, but if the candidate is left of a Republican but further right than the Democrats then they're probably just a Republican who doesn't like being called out on their beliefs.

Moore seems far more prepared to articulate his campaign points than Cox, for sure.
They both seemed to do just as good as each other. Focus not on how somebody speaks, or maybe even how they look, and focus on policies. What is affecting you, and how are you and how is your family doing throughout all of this economic hardship? What is the strongest and most important thing to you? Who shared the most truth in this debate - because that's the point of a debate. Not how "prepared to articulate" you are, but who actually has the RIGHT ideas and who knows how to fix the state's issues? Until then, you prove it is not Moore, as you provide nothing but empty claims and no evidence.

I don't know much about Moore's record, but I like his energy and his willingness to put out some very clear intentions. When he wins, we'll be able to hold him these points. I've followed Dan since the pandemic -- he is not responding to questions and issues clearly and consistently. He contradicts his own words which he has expressed himself directly in his safe places over the last few years.

I grew up with Dan Cox and I legit DIED at his opening speech and how he literally can't even put his own thoughts together. Almost everyone I know that knows him in real life doesn't agree with him. His dad ran a cult like church and homeschooling group in Maryland and literally all of us kids who went there are now going through therapy. He used to preach at the church and just like how he couldn't get his sermons straight he can't even get a good campaign answer straight. He is a complete joke. Moore is well thought out and had great answers. I'm going to enjoy watching Wes Moore win next month.

This man would preach sermons on how woman belonged in the bedroom and kitchen - I spent 18 years with the Cox family believe me I know them well. 😉 I was in the same graduation class in the cult like homeschool group with Dan Coxs daughter.
