      Very nice man!
      Not sure if you're familiar with Cesar Santos. His base skin color is windsor and newton's light red. He uses titanium white to create skin base peach, then raw umber for shadows, pushes toward yellow with pale yellow ochre, and red with cad red. Then enrichens skin folds in light with indian red. Mars brown also comes in handy. Tone down chroma by mixing a white to black grayscale of paint that the grey value can be added to the skin color to tone down chroma without altering the value of the skin. Cesar is a very clever and technical painter and can replicate at the Masters level. I only say this because creating skin color is VERY DIFFICULT to achieve the warmth of skin without making people sunburned red or pale pink, but also not leaving them yellow.
      Anyways, Excellent work, keep it up, you've got TONS of time to continue developing and you've off to an incredible start.

    Oddly enough, right at the very beginning, I thought to myself I’d love to see this artist in another time period...speaking as Romeo may have. Then you brought out the books and I thought it was an amazing thing. I love your portrait and explanation. Thank you!

    I really appreciate how you structure your videos - as by the introduction, your thought process - the middle stage, the explanation how you will continue, the next steps ..what you're aiming for etc. (especially the emotional rollercoaster you can experience while painting, and that pushing through could (or does ;) ) lead to an outcome that's most certainly better than expected. ) - And finally the recap. where i personally want to compliment you on your ability to analyze your own work in a not only artistically educated way but also objective and positive. Its really nice to listen to an artist who is able to praise himself for improvement or a specific part of the painting that worked out well. And it inspires me to do so myself. As a dedicated artist and graphic designer i can really tell how much work you put into your artworks and videos, it shows and its worth it! I enjoy your content a lot!

    Hello, you are honing your skills.
    Thank you for sharing how you work to improve your skills. We only have two artist friends (we listen we know through observation) they are not too bad over the past 3 and 4 decades they each have really become quite good at their works. One is pencil one of water, that is all we know about that.
    Thank you, Lance & Patrick.

    And with each practice painting you will become the best! One self portrait a month, what a goal! Not only does this make you a better artist, but look at the time capsule you are making of yourself! This was a good painting!

    Great to see someone talented also still practicing! It only makes sense, but a lot of painters only show the successes, making it look easy. This is so much more interesting to watch!!
    I would love to give it a try someday as well. Unfortunately I have absolutely no oil painting materials. It's extremely expensive to start with and I also just don't have 2-3 hours to spare very often (which is why I now use acrylic paint. Less flexible, but faster. And a LOT cheaper as well....).

  • @nicholasjagger6557
    @nicholasjagger6557 5 лет назад

    I agree, your best yet. Williamsburg make a red ochre and the best available naples yellow, and you already use Gamblin perylene and napthol, these plus any ultramarine would make your color mixing a great deal easier. Start with the red ochre and white, and see if it needs warming or cooling. It's very ambitious to stretch from graphic conventions to fine art, but it's great that you work so hard.
