Jonathan Hsu is a Taiwanese-American producer/line producer based in NYC. For over a decade, his production company Hsubox Productions Inc. has been producing commercials and films to empower and uplift diverse artist voices and stories. He has partnered with major brands like Apple, Bacardi, Microsoft, AARP, L'Oreal, Pepsi and more.
As a filmmaker his feature film, STARRING JERRY AS HIMSELF directed by Law Chen, had its World Premiere at Slamdance and won Grand Jury, Audience Award, and Best Actor for a hybrid documentary about his own father. It has played theatrically throughout the world and is currently streaming on Prime Video, Google, and AppleTV with a 100% RottenTomatoes Score. His short film CLOSING DYNASTY directed by Lloyd Lee Choi is currently playing on Netflix and the critically acclaimed horror film A WOUNDED FAWN is streaming on AMC Shudder.
His next film that he is developing is SUNSHOWER is a mind-bending love story taking place in an Alzheimer's Dementia treatment center (Notebook meets Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind).
Synopsis of STARRING JERRY AS HIMSELF
Jerry, an ordinary immigrant dad, retired in Orlando, is recruited to be an undercover agent for the Chinese police. Jerry's family recreates the events on film and his three sons discover a darker truth. True crime meets spy thriller in this genre-bending docufiction hybrid about an immigrant’s search for the American dream.
