    Dollar 🌳 needs to take the extra money they are charging us to hire and pay more staff to keep those store clean and those lines down. That’s what I better see with all these price increases or else they can count me out!!

      I am with you. It was a thrill to go in and see what you can find, and not worry about the price! You knew it was $1.00 then $1.25. Now it’s not the same. 😢

    They put family dollar and dollar tree in one store. Like you said they better chill because they are going to be out of business before we know it. Thats what they will get for becoming greedy and trying to be a store they never should have tried to be. Thanks for sharing 😊

  • @jacquelinefreeman6537
    @jacquelinefreeman6537 13 дней назад +34

    I agree, we’re going to have a problem. And then there’s the added problem of smaller quantity. Example, coffee filters went from 150 count to 100 and notecard packs went from 8 to 4 count. The thrill of the hunt may not compensate for the negatives of multiple prices and less value. And the prices printed on the products are tacky for gifting and baskets. Our only way to protest may be to buy less and shop more elsewhere. Really much of which I buy is not a necessity.

    If you hadn't heard, DT figured out that people who they think can "afford" to spend more are shopping there. Things that they find are popular, i.e., the calendars, will be higher priced now. It is a shame. I love DT, but they are going to cause other stores to go lower. I have seen Target doing lower dollar spot items now! Enjoyed the haul. So cute the fruits!!!

    They interviewed the CEO of DT. He STATED “ This is NOT a permanent thing. Right now our Suppliers have increased their prices. How can WE CALL OURSELVES the Dollar Tree when we’re CHARGING a $1.25? 😮😢

    I'm half way through watching this video but had to comment right away. I bought those liners from Temu for my air fryer. Caution, when the air fryer goes on it creates a sucktion of air that raises the liner up to the top of the burner and the paper can burn/catch fire if there aren't enough things on the liner to weigh it down as in heavy pieces of food. So please never leave your air fryer unattended or with minimal food that can cause this reaction. OK, bk to video.

    I agree about the prices! I feel like we're headed to a Dollar General situation. Fine if they want to, but I won't be making special trips. I mean, if I can get the same thing for the same price at Walmart/Target or somewhere else where I'm already shopping....then what's the point? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Doesn't have the same "spree" feeling if I'm back to checking every price tag. We'll see.....

    Dollar General still has candy, some cleaning products and calendars for $1.00. Some items are cheaper there than the new Dollartree prices. There’s a whole aisle of $1.00 items at Dollar General with some great buys 😉

    I'm with you Marie, Dollar Tree needs to stop. Ever since the former CEO OF Dollar General became the CEO of Dollar Tree he's been turning it into a Dollar General minus any dollar items. My shopping at Dollar Tree has gone down drastically since they started intermixing different priced items in the same area.

    Yup good times in 💲🌳

    I thought the same. Didn't they learn from 99 going under? Walmart has lots of items cheaper than Dollartree. I hated the .25 increase and I've cut back from spending and now when I'm in the store I don't spend the $50+ I used to spend. I can't justify the impulse buys that I used to say, "well, it's just a dollar"

    • @sharonhardy4139
      @sharonhardy4139 13 дней назад +9

      I already heard that the reason they’re increasing the prices again is because they believe we can afford it….not that prices went up for them. In other words….greed. The last price hike didn’t seem to hurt too much, so they figure this one won’t either. I’ve already noticed some of the items are smaller/contain less. Thinking of it from corporate’s point of view, the first 25 cent increase was 25%….a huge increase. The next 25 cents will be a 20% increase. Imagine what that is on their bottom line!

    It IS the end of an era. I never believed them when they went up to $1.25 (better quality, more products, etc). Yes, the $1 calendars were great. More and more stores are having $1 sections, SO, I truly hope $Tree puts itself out of business for LYING and being GREEDY. I will go in OCCASIONALLY, but NOT as often as I used to. I'm sorry Marie. You do an EXCELLENT job.

  • @irhonda31
    @irhonda31 13 дней назад +3

    It was so much fun when everything was $1.00 for all those years! I hope that the calendars are better quality for $1.50 - the paper was pretty flimsy before. You always find great items!

  • @dwilloughby1969
    @dwilloughby1969 13 дней назад +4

    The way inflation has gotten out of control the last 4 years I can see why they raised prices. The price raise is probably because they are a very popular item but like one subscriber said $1.50 is still cheaper than Walmart. I have the $3 containers and I have them full and a little on the heavier side and no problems so far. Now you can get your money back not just an exchange. If you pay by card then it goes back on your card, if you pay with cash you get your cash back but always remember to have your receipt. No receipt no exchange or refund.

  • @VoodooRaven72

    Walmart in my area will price items up to 10cents below what you find the same item at DT for $1.25+. Still, a calendar for $1.50 isn't bad but I always use the free ones I get in the mail :) It really is going to impact a lot of families who rely on places such as DT to shop at. Does anyone remember the stores called Red Star? Those were my first introduction to a dollar tree type store and soon when out of business (at least in my area) due to price increases. Great haul. I always enjoy your videos so much!!

    I used to go to DT every week and I could have gone more. Now I go maybe once a month. They don't seem to carry 1/8 of what you show at my store. I guess the price increase was psychological for me. If they go up again it might just be a place where I buy my greeting cards. I notice my store is never really all that busy anymore. But honestly its good for me because I didnt need a lot of stuff I was buying. I did have a ton of stuff for my garage sale though. Not proud of that.

    Not a fan of the price increase. I’m still complaining about the increase to $1.25. I actually won’t even buy things in the isle with the $3 and $5 items. Honestly, you can find better deals on current name brand things at Walmart and even Target when they have sales-especially for back to school supplies. For our household, we aren’t fans of the DT “dupes” in the beauty and bath products. I also find that the name brand items are not current items. I love the gift bags/gift wrap, party platters/serving bowls, stationary and office supplies, some of their seasonal decor, $1.25 organizational bins and I used to purchase quite a bit of their craft supplies but lately even my “good” DT has been BARE and hasn’t been re-stocked in forever! It is frustrating to say the least. I have 4 DT’s in about a 5-7 mile radius of me and none have the same selections or consistency. They don’t even have the same hours! Some barely have a craft isle at all. I don’t like Family Dollar or Dollar General. Not a fan of Pop Shelf. Barely a fan of Five and Below. I feel like they are all delusional for the quality of the products to pricing ratio. I’d spend a few more cents to a dollar or so for better quality or name brand at other stores-sorry, not sorry. And it may only be .25 for most things, but that adds up. Now they want up to $7 and $9 for things you can get cheaper elsewhere-nope! They are on thin ice with me. And I also agree, quit it with the dumb sayings. I prefer no sayings. I’d buy a ton of those plain notebooks and makeup bags because the clear plastic is cute and neon is cute, but I’m not carrying one that says “Bussin’” as a 41 year old🤣. To each their own, but I feel plain would be the way to go👀🙄 They should change their name to “Rip Off Tree”

    $1.50 is reasonable for a calendar . Check out the prices in Target, Walmart, etc.

    Last year at the DT, I bought three navy cloth cubes with gold leaves on the front for $1.25. This year they are in the “special” aisle for $3.00!

    My DT's have more than just the backpacks
    in clear plus they have lunch boxes as well!
    Many of the food items have already been
    way over $1.25 and other items too such as
    dog supplies!I agree about the return policy

    I love your haul today, I have to tell you I was at the DT store the other day and saw big calendars and refuse to pay 1.50 for it lol but I bought the small pocket one you had and the two year pocket calendar.

    I'm with you--- about the prices. There is a DT in a neighboring city that I like to frequent because everything is $1.25 no surprises.

    I would return that calendar girl and let the manager know, " oh, I couldn't sleep after paying 1.50 for this calendar, especially finding it for 1.00 at Family Dollar, so please allow me to get some candy for an exchange and return my quarter!"😅

    Ice tea and lemonade is an Arnold Palmer. Also, I saw that you can order the $5 containers online. There’s a 9 box minimum!

    I can’t see people continuing to shop at Dollar Tree if their stores are like all the ones within a few hours of my home. I NEVER see any of the great deals that RUclipsrs show us. I’ve been going in consistently for 3 years now, and the items just don’t arrive at the stores.

    When hobby lobby puts their stuff on sale a lot of the times their stuff is now cheaper than dollar tree or 2-3 cents difference and it’s better quality so I go with hobby lobby. Like table scatters or picks and other decor items especially window clings

    Those nail tabs are better for your nails because they aren't as damaging/harsh on your nails. After the damage the glue has done to my nails I only use the sticky tabs. Fantastic haul.

    Arnold Palmer is half tea, half lemonade ❤ Great haul. I will still shop at DT . $1.50 is still a great price for calendars. My favorite calendars are by Lang and they are about 20 bucks each!!!

    I find that quality and variety greatly increased with the increase to $1.25. The 25 cents is well worth it. (My small local store does not have a 'bonus' section except in refrigerators.)

    When they announced they were closing family dollars they announced the price increases for the dollar tree. Wealthier people are now shopping Dollar Tree so they are catering to that crowd. I’m hoping that eventually means the products will get better. I love the nail tabs. I went swimming for 2 hours yesterday and my nails stayed put. Plus if one pops off you just pop on another nail tab and go on your merry way. Temu sells great sets of nail tabs.
