Greetings from Australia! I read Larissa's story on the Quillette website, and as a survivor of CSA, I can totally relate in similar and different ways. I would like to thank Larissa for sharing her story in a very public space, albeit online. At times, I draw strength from those who have lived experience - be it male or female - to help 'educate' myself and remind myself that I am not alone in this.

Vital facts to remember: Sexual assault is an umbrella term. Rape is a form aka an act of sexual assault.

Being a Victim in your mind is like being in a cage with the only key in your pocket. People try to help by adding padlocks and giving you the keys to put in your pocket. We shouldn't make lite of horrible crimes against people but helping them feel trapped is not real help. Looking for ways to avoid being a victim can help someone else but discussing that often seems insensitive. Telling people to be watchful is not blaming but it might seem like blaming. I guess there has been a lot of blaming of women and saying "boys will be boys".

With the new definition of sexual assault I have been assaulted dozens of times over my lifetime by women, with forced kissing and unwanted touching and comments. i merely brushed them off as creepiest and drunks lol
