You are very right my brother. You understand the dynamics well enough. In any group band, the most popular is always the vocalist. You see what happened with Lionel Richie and the Commodores, Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5.The list is endless. It doesn't mean that others are not better musicians. Those who understand instrumentation in music will always recognize good music,but the followers will only recognize the lead vocalists in a band.

Warrior was a vocalist, so it's understandable he'll be far more popular. Music is far more than that. What many of you don't know is that because Warrior was the vocalist, many albums Dan Satch released afterwards were ascribed to warrior. And for Mbaise, all of them that I had a dealing with ended up betraying me and my family. I'm not saying all of them are bad, but all that I met have ended up betrayals. Period!!

Warrior may be a better vocalist but Dan Satch is a guitarist and composer and he composed far better music with far better rythm than Warrior. Check out the music Warrior played when he separated and you'll see it's far less of a standard than that when they were together. I have followed oriental brothers for 40yrs. And for how good or bad where I come from are, let those who interact with us judge

Guy keep quiet! He is talking because someone asked him the question. And for such a legendary band it's right for us to know what happened. I have also seen interviews with Kabaka. So people want to know. Again, even while Warrior was still alive maybe he's also granting such interviews but it wasn't an era of social media and so only few will see it if all.

Even if what you are saying is true which I totally doubt, you could still say it without insulting Mbaise people. Dr. Sir Warrior was one of the finest and greatest legends of Igbo land although from Mbaise. The sad part of it all is that Aquila who has stood by you all these years is also from Mbaise yet you didn't find it irresponsible to cast aspersion on Mbaise people while he is sitting right by your side. I can now see why Oriental brothers disintegrated. People should think before they talk.

It's so unfortunate that almost 44 years after Warrior parted ways with Satch, Satch is still bitter, even as Sir Warrior passed away some 24 years ago. Most annoying is that Satch seems happy Sir Warrior and most the band members are no more. Satch talks as if the long life he has attained is by his power rather the grace of God.
Ferdinand Chukwemeka Dan Satch Opara founded Oriental Brothers Brothers band and was the de facto leader. No one disputes that with him. However the star of the group, the chief composer and singer was Sir Warrior (Christogonus Ezewuiro Obinna). It's unfortunate that Satch who couldn't utter a word while Warrior was alive is now talking down on Sir Warrior, trying hard to discredit him and even taking credit for Sir Warrior's compositions. It's really so unfortunate. Satch never told the world why 6 out of 8 band men decided to follow Sir Warrior and not him. Satch didn't mention why flopped as a musician after Warrior left him. It's simple: he was living large, off another man's talent. Black Power knew who made the music that's why he supported Sir Warrior instead of Satch. I was a teenager in the mid 70s to the early 80s, the hey days of the Orientals. I was privileged to have attended their shows twice in my late teenage days. We had all their albums in our house and I can confidently say it anyday that Warrior composed most of their songs because the acknowledgements were always on each of the albums. I knew that Dan Satch's days with Warrior were numbered the moment Sir Warrior single handedly composed hit albums like Nwanne Awu Enyi and Obi Nwanne. It's unfortunate that Dan Satch is even subtly trying to claim credit for "Amaghim onye wu Onye" song here. That song was also composed and sang by Sir Warrior. Dan Satch's claim about it in the interview here is a lie. Anyone who can find the LP should check it. For putting the group together immediately after the war, Dan Satch deserves credit. However he cannot ride on lies, hate and bitterness to earn that credit. At his age, he should uphold the truth and make peace with God. Akwila is just nodding his head because he has always been a Dan Satch lackey from day one. When Akwila left Orientals with Ichita and they both flopped, Akwila quickly ran back to Satch to find succour and they've been together ever since. 🙌🙌

For me, I am actually looking for all their albums together in one file especially those ones Sir warrior was the lead vocalist. He said that there is no other voice except his own Dr Sir warrior
@@udoguobinna786Between 1972 when the Orientals was formed and 1980 when Warrior parted with Satch, the Orientals had no other vocalist except Warrior. All that the other band members (including Satch) did was play instruments and back up in vocals on choruses. Those videos made by Satch after Warrior's death give a false impression that Satch also sang lead vocals for the Orientals while he was with Warrior.

So my question is why did sir warrior did such a thing? Were they having issues before? Something must have caused that to happened. There gotta be reason. No matter whose fault it was but something must have transpired between them. So there is two sides to this story.

Akwila and Ichita left the band and went broke (they couldn't succeed on their own as musicians) but he returned to the band when Warrior left. Dan Satch has been paying him salary since 1980, so why would you expect him to not be subservient to Dan Satch? In any case, he did contradict Dan Satch in this video (@ 1:53) that Warrior was the singer of Ima Onye Wu Onye.

You missed the point --- Dan Satch is not saying why Warrior took that action, he is playing the victim while he was the victimizer of so many musicians. I am fan of the Oriental Brothers, including that of Dan Satch and Warrior especially, but Satch is not telling the entire truth. In the "Ima Onye wu onye" song that he lied here to have written (Warrior wrote and sang the entire album in 1978), Warrior warned him severally as follows: "Nwanyim kpama agwa ọjọ, m'agbara ya ọsọ", "Dan Satch le, omegbu ibe ya, ahu enwegi ike idi ya mma", etc.
Don't get me wrong, I love Dan Satch, he is an excellent musician but he has some wuru-wuru trait over money due to his musicians. The musicians who have stuck with him are the ones who don't believe that they can do better elsewhere -- every confident musician that encountered him eventually quit him; even Akwila quit him in the 1970s but returned after he almost died of hunger and alcoholism when he and Ichita couldn't make it on their own as musicians. Folks just want the whole truth, not the slanted stories he frequently tells.
The man sounds petty and that speaks volume of him. While not face his issues with his business partner and leave his tribe Mbaise alone? This alone goes to show he has a wrong spirit and not team player. He looks so petty and sounds troublesome
If "sense nde Mbaise" means not letting your band leader rip you off, then every reasoning person should have "sense nde Mbaise". I can bet you that the total cost/value of the instrument and bus couldn't have worth the millions that the album, Obi Nwanne/Ebele Onye Uwa, composed by Warrior but of which he basically got no royalty, has generated so far. That was the final blow that triggered Warrior into saying enough was enough. If "sense nde Mbaise" is bad, why has Akwila (from the same Enyiogwugwu as was Warrior) remained on Satch's side consistently since 1980?
Chief Dan Satch is a great musician but his leadership at that time was exploitative of his colleagues -- that was what ruined the band -- he should not desecrate his memory/that of the band by telling half or slanted story, he should tell the entire story and it will be marketable and financially rewarding to them.
The old man is free to say what transpired between both men or the group called ORIENTAL BROTHERS INTERNATIONAL, but mentioning Mbaise people is wrong.

You claim you are the owner of the group and saw a young man with a golden voice and you neglected him. Spending all the money alone in the name of founder. After warrior left the band how far ?
Dan Satch messes up his stories by injecting little bits of falsehoods that bastardize them into so many incredible versions that contradict one another. Dan Satch's claim that Warrior confiscated the band's instrument, bus, and a few musicians is true, that has been the story since 1980 -- even Warrior told the same story a few times during that period. But Dan Satch is not saying why Warrior took that drastic measure -- there were issues with royalty payments reaching Warrior and some of the musicians; that problem had lingered on before 1980 and led to the departures of Akwila, Ichita, and later Awoma and Aloy Anyanwu, etc. Dan Satch told another lie in this clip by claiming that he wrote the song, "Ima Onye wu onye". No, Warrior wrote both songs in that album and a host of other hit songs.
In retrospect, one can soundly conclude that Oriental Brothers band broke up because of this attitude of Dan Satch's -- his belief that he owned the band and that Warrior and the other members were his boys. Dan Satch is an excellent song writer -- he wrote the majority of their songs before 1980 -- but it seems to me that he was a poor leader and his poor leadership was why most musicians that worked with him in that era loathed him. He wrote so many beautiful songs after Warrior's departure but he was unfortunate that almost all of their fans followed Warrior and it became difficult for him to sell records. After Warrior's departure, Satch had a singer named Ishmael; he equally quit the band, possibly because of not being fairly remunerated. In fairness to Dan Satch though, he has retained almost all of the musicians he gathered into the band after Warrior's departure, I guess these musicians are doubtlessly his boys, instead of his colleagues like Kabaka, Warrior, Akwila, Ichita, Awoma, Alloy, etc. were.
Chief Dan Satch should calm down and enjoy the rest of his life. There is nothing wrong with him telling the story of the band as long as he tells the true and complete story -- no rational person is going to put a dime on a fabrication or on an ego-driven slanted story.
The interviewer did an excellent job in getting him to speak despite his hesitation, I just wish that the conversation was longer -- if there is a part two, please post it.
