For a sitcom character Kelly Bundy is complex. She stupid one minute and smarter than her brother the next. She's underrated for sure.

That last clip is the real heart of the show behind all the laughs, Al Bundy may hate his life and job, his family get on his one and only nerve, but when it matters no one messes or talks bad about his family.

Everyone in this show did an awesome job. Even replacing neighbor Steve with Jefferson worked out great. Steve was a foil for Al whereas Jefferson was a pal. They really nailed the casting.

This is show was extremely popular in my country, Poland. I love Al, Peggy, Kelly and Bud so much! Also a fan of Al and Marcy dynamics, it's so funny. By the way, the actress playing Marcy (Amanda Bearse) has been one of the directors of this show. Keep making videos, Georgia ❤

It’s interesting that you said that. I was going to comment to avoid the first several years. I guess we all have our own opinions.
I started watching this show around the 7th season or so. After seeing much of the show’s later episodes, I went back and watched the earlier ones. I found them unfunny and couldn’t bear to continue watching. I’ll give them another try sometime.
@@randall-king I guess. The first 2-3 or so episodes are just ok. But once the actors got a feel for how they wanted to portray their character I thought the early years with the original writers and Steve Rhodes character were much funnier.
LOL, you should watch some full episodes to get acquainted with the characters, Kelly's entire character is based the blonde stereotypes of dumb, ditzy, and beautiful! She is always getting every expression backwards that she tries to stay, like "it's so hot you lay an egg", but obviously she was supposed to "fry an egg".

@@GarytongueBetz-vl1fu Not sure where you read that, but Christina has done numerous interviews explaining how she turned down the role because she thought it was smut.
Then how they did 2 pilots without her before convincing her to take the role and then they used those pilots to show her how they wanted her to play the part.
She also said in one interview when asked if there was any improv, she responded with "No, we had to stick to the script"

There's an episode called "Al and Kelly". It takes place entirely in the Bundy house and it's just the two of them. It's one of my all-time favorite episodes. :)

married with childre was on early 90s .it was a funny show,christina applegate is 50 now and recently diagnosed with ms multiple sclerosis .i always wonder why does it seem that celebrities seem to get hit with personal tragedies more than reqular people.

One thing I liked about this show, is that even though the Bundys where horrible people, they defended each other from others. Like in the last scene, Al beating Kelly's cheating boyfriend, or Kelly humiliating a female bully (Tiffany Amber Thiessen) who made a bad prank on Bud, or every one beating up the driver and passengers of a car who insulted them in the middle of a traffic jam.

I was just as bad but with spelling, when i was younger. I can still be that bad now. The best way to look at it is to do as much as possible but remember as we grow older it starts to fade naturally anyway so don't let it worry you to much. He also was a former football player in real life. I enjoyed his character on Married With..... He was a bit beaten down by life, etc.... But overall he was a good man. And he did love Peg!!!! It's so sad that Christina Applegate is suffering from multiple sclerosis. She's only in her early 50s, and she's probably going to be the first cast member to die. Seeing as how this show was on the air throughout all my teen years, she's like the first woman I ever fell in love with, and it's just heartbreaking to see her how she is today. Keep fighting, Pumpkin. Our hearts will always be yours...

The scene with the bowling is from the beginning of the show. For about the first season and a half, the Kelly character was actually intelligent, and with it, but a bit unruly. Then they made her more of the airhead. The show itself also started out a bit more serious, but started becoming more campy. Sometimes, I’ll be honest, I prefer how it started.
Keep in mind, though, that for the first season and a half of the show, it was actually a bit more serious. Kelly was not an airhead, and Al was a bit more responsible. After that point, however it became much more campy.
Its on all Sat every week on that Logo channel. If you have that channel. I think it might be on Hulu too
I'm sure we all have a "kelly bundy" moment. My religious teacher once asked me when Jesus' birthday was and I don't know why but drew a complete blank. Everyone, including the teacher gave me that unbelievable look like, come on man...
Kelly is known for screwing up sayings. For example, instead of "That's the straw that broke the camel's back"; she says, "That's the squaw that stroked the camel's sack". :)

There was a flashback episode that showed how Kelly became dumb. They were riding in the car when she was a little girl and she was reciting some intellectual and scientific and being very intelligent when all of a sudden Al hits a pothole and the bounce causes Kelly to hit her head on the ceiling and knocks the intelligence out of her.
There are two tragedies when it comes to Kelly. One is that with her parents being Al and Peggy Bundy, the chances of her being smart were next to non-existent. The second tragedy (and IMO sadder one) is that she actually had beaten those odds, because there is a flashback to when she was a kid, and she was actually really interested in book learning and seemed to be quite intelligent. But in that same flashback, we see her hit her head and she literally instantly lost interest in the book she was reading and immediately became more like the airhead Kelly that we're all familiar with. Obviously it's just a dumb joke and that isn't how it works, but it's a sitcom, so the whole thing is functioning on sitcom logic that wouldn't fly today.

Al is beat down so he is rude. Peggy is a housewife but, doesn't do anything other than waste Al's money. Kelly is an airhead but, beautiful. Bud is a horny nerd. Marcy is upwardly mobile but, is self conscious about her looks. Steve Marcy's 1st husband was upwardly mobile but, lost his job after giving Al a large bank loan to get a vacation. He leave's Marcy to be a volunteer forest ranger. Marcy gets drunk in Vegas and marries Jefferson. Jefferson feels he looks too good to work and wastes her money.
Watch out bcause Kelly married a Dutch guy so she is your neigbour now ;p

I notice that some of the jokes Rodney Dangerfield said , you didn’t get , don’t worry others have trouble too. I think because your in England I assume, you may not be familiar with the mannerisms of the USA. And your quite young so that would not help as your watching shows from the 80s. Do you know that blonde haired girls get this stereotype of being dumb. I don’t know how that started , but there are many dumb blonde jokes out there.
I am probably your dads age so I grew up watching married with children and All in the Family , two shows that were controversial, only one network would take a chance on them , and they were hit shows, but you had people that hated those shows ( mostly women) and others that loved them.
