The best thing about snowboarding? Immersion. Fully committing to the moment without distraction. One of the few things we can do in modern society without being "connected." Ryan is looking fighting fit. Hope you're in a good place. Looking forward to this kind of content in the new year.

I'm so elated that you've returned. Because of you, I've rediscovered my passion for snowboarding. Your videos have taught me how to finally carve. I have upgraded every single gear I have and purchased my first season pass last year. What is currently exhilerating is changing edges and feeling the board lock into the turn as you decamber and begin the next circle....hope that makes sense. looking forward to more of your videos!

I love it because it's so hard in life to find something that gives you a clear sense of progress *every* time you do it. The satisfaction and fulfillment of knowing for certain you're *getting better* is such a powerful source of happiness. Snowboarding is an exceptional sport for experiencing this feeling. Endless optimism about progress ahead is just a life saving mindset, and in this sport there's always more to learn, thank the gods.

Knapton is back! Love it. I like the zen-like chill approach that teaches awesome technical stuff in a manner that doesn't forget what it's all really about. Somehow makes me think this is how Bob Ross would teach snowboarding if that had been his jam instead of painting.

Oh my goodness, thank you for such a fantastic video! I've been struggling to really understand what certain turns are or even when to use them. Even though I've taken lessons or asked around for help, it's really difficult for me to know without a good visual (just how I learn). The fact that you broke everything down the way you did, used the figures, but also demonstrated with your own feet...it was so, so helpful. I'm excited to take this back to the hills :)
Admittedly I have been down on my own snowboarding but I always think back to those break through moments I have had in snowboarding. I remember carving turns just clicked for me one day and just feeling that momentum of the push/pull is so cool (right now I'm working on doing deeper carves!). And on top of that, I remember I navigated through some loose/very chill trees - being able to control my snowboard and move around that type of terrain...such a cool feeling. Not only having that control but it's like something in your brain just clicks where intuition and focus just perfectly blend in together. I always strive and think back to those moments and hope I can have more of them.
Thank you so much for all you do. Your vids have helped so much and I love that it's a great mix of both insight and heart :). Cheers!

What I love most about snowboarding is that for those few minutes on every run you are completely lost yet present in the moment. Nothing else exists - and that rarely happens in life today. Separated from my wife of many years not long ago and snowboarding has provided an escape and a form of therapy. Bought a season pass and it changed everything. A big thanks Ryan for your channel - it has really, really helped my snowboarding.

I love snowboarding because it declutters my mind. In the mountains, wether dodging trees off piste or ripping carves on groomers, I'm 100% in the moment; focused on all the sensations of my body, speed reading my environment, and linking my thoughts into movements seamlessly on this great glimmering playground

What I love about snowboarding..... when I go out and ride everything else falls away.
All the cares, responsibilities, anxieties, pressures, they all fall away and I can relax. It's
a feeling that can't be explained, for me anyway. The feeling is kinda like being free, flying,
floating, falling, being crushed, stretched, terrified, ecstatic..... so many good feelings. Now
that I am a bit "older" I find it's still the same..... and at the same time even better. I do miss
being younger and stronger physically but, as I said, the feeling hasn't changed. As long as
I am able I will be "dragging knuckles" with a smile as big as every other boarder on the hill.
Thanks for that Ryan. You really are in inspiration even to us "older" riders.
    Keep yourself safe! 😃👍❤🏂

Knapton your original buttering tutorials were an absolute game changer to my riding. I've watched them a thousand times and continue to go back to them when something isn't feeling right. My favourites are big FO backside 180's, you're right, the feeling of flying backwards down a slope is an incredible feeling. My other go-to are nose-roll 360's, when you get that pop right it looks and feels awesome. Glad to see you back!

I live for snowboarding! Every day is a new adventure, the conditions are never ever exactly the same and I have something to work at to train my brain. I was very blessed when I first strapped on my first board that I got for Christmas after about 20 minutes in the powder in the backyard I figured out out how to turn and stop. Then I could enjoy the progression for the next 30+ years. I spent many hours working on my carves and turns to improve. I love the connection to the earth where my concentration is only on the sensation and the the turns. Especially now where I'm riding hard boots I get to look at what I did the previous run from the lift. I also love the social aspect with people on the lift and on the hill.

Life has ups and downs. But riding has a flow. Gives a peace to your heart. The quietness in the air. The feeling of your edges. Body flowing from one carve to the next. Gives you peace. Empties out all the negativity in the world. You. The board. And the snow.
    What more can one want.

It's funny, was talking to my daughter about snowboarding earlier today (she's 15 and boards). I described it as an emotion. Once you're strapped in, everything else diminishes, it's just you and the mountain. I feel blessed that the mountain is there, the snow fell, I am on a plank of wood, I'm boarding. All else just fades away, it's me and the board the snow and the mountain. Love it love it love it. Peace Ryan ❤️👋😁

I love ( other than the sensations) how very simple yet complex the sport is. The amount of science and thinking that one could do.. the variables between even every run or even each turn always pushes me and teaches me something new. When I think I have a grasp, I find something new that I’d never considered. This year I found being patient with the turn initiation can lock in a turn more solidly. Idk why yet.

He's baaaaaaack!!! Best thing about snowboarding is freedom. It's the one thing, where I can do whatever the heck I want, impulsively as the terrain dictates. The yellowjackets may be trying to change that in some places, but overall it's still better than say, getting speeding tickets while driving (while totally in control), getting chased by cops for skateboarding, etc., It still takes responsibility, awareness & self-control, but the only limits are your imagination and how far you're willing to take your riding. And let's be honest, it has so much more style than skiing. (sorry skier friends)

Thank you for producing content. After 15 years of not boarding (marriage, kids, excuses). I found your videos thanks to the RUclips algorithm and I was hooked again. I finally took my 16 year old son up to big bear and taught him how to board. We were riding my old gear, with boots falling apart and Frankenstein bindings that didn't fit our boots. You get the picture. I took the plunge and worked with Donek on a custom Ryan Knapton twin. I'm getting my son a new board for xmas this year and we got our Ikon passes ready to go. But most of all we've connected, connected with friends, and increased our love for life, bridging my HEART to my board. Thank you for teaching me the physics of snowboarding, and introducing me to a wider board. I'm looking forward to your series, and looking forward to the snow even more this year.

Ryan…first you look great. After my second knee replacement 8 months ago I’m hoping this season to work back to basics that I started with after watching your first How to really really carve video. For me the sensation of having a super controlled turn, being on edge, and being able to transition in control both regular and switch is what I love about snowboarding. Getting air and being able to spin in control hopefully for next season. I’m glad your back and can’t wait to see what you have planned for the season.

Oh my, this was such a good watch! Your stream of consciousness is absolutely fascinating.
What I love about snowboarding is the ability to run whatever want. It's like dropping into a video game, everything becomes a challenge, constantly varying your line choice or style.

Turning in steep terrain with deep powder is what I love most about snowboarding. I’ll never forget my first rope drop at Snowbird. I was 13 years old and that floating on the clouds feeling has always stayed with me. Still mindsurf it sometimes! That being said your videos have made my groomer days so much more fun and improved my riding(in all conditions) so much. Thank you Ryan

When I was first able to get up on the hill and side slope I was stoked! The feeling of connecting with the slope and exploring parts of the hill otherwise unreachable to me was the hook for me!

That feeling of freedom is the best thing. In snowboarding, skateboarding and mountainboarding I love that everything that used to be an obstacle is changed into an opportunity. Instead of being trapped by your environment it sets you free. Awesome to see you back!

Great to see you back man. I've been missing your uploads.
I think some of my favorite things about snowboarding would be the sensation of freedom as you glide down the mountain, the satisfaction of progressing as you continue to get better all the time, and the boost of confidence you get from that progression. Aside from that I grew up in Florida where both mountains and snow are nonexistent. I'll never forget the first time I went to the top of Peak 9 in Breckenridge. I sat there enjoying the scenery until my butt went numb. It's just so beautiful out there and snowboarding puts you right in the middle of it.

Love it. I use to take the views for granted when I first moved to CO. Now every time I see a view I love on the mtn I put up my hands in the shape of a camera and take an imaginary picture for my mind to remember. :)

Love the circles, thanks for the tips, Ryan. I’m ready to get back on the slopes, I love carving, smooth transitions from heel to toe and back. Powder days are what I live for, though. Shred on!
