Those days where Zach doesn't want to hold the camera, Onyx can then help! Good idea Zach! Also, I'm sure he has some interesting or strange things to say.
Actually go one step better for Onyx. Give him a drone camera. He can get great footage from the air when his Dad and Grandpa are in the field. That and think what information you could have gotten looking over the spring storm damage.
I think a web cam for The Millennial's Young Farmer is a good idea. Show a little setting up. A little shutdown. And very little "on-the-move". At least until he gets the hang of it. Moving parts is an understatement. Nearly every piece of equipment on the farm is motivated by a large diesel engine or a powerful electric motor. Things are spinning, twisting, rotating, cutting. Things are moving back and forth, in and out, and up and down. We are soft and squishy and the equipment does not care about us: it will eat us. A farm is an extremely dangerous environment. Yet we love the farm. Another great video. Thanks.
Hey Zach I just watched a video from your racing channel, you have 158,000 subs on that channel, with the 936,000 subs you have on this channel that gives you 1,094,000 subscribers, give that damn dog a ride!
Zach, it's gotta make a dad proud to pass on responsibility of the farm to your son. And his love for racing? Where did that come from? Lol. I can totally see Onyx giving you and Becky some awesome footage. I can't wait for that.
If he's grown up enough to run a grain cart, he's grown up enough to tell us about it. I think we all trust Mrs. Millennial Farmer to make sure he represents the family well in post.
@@Rob_Moilanen That won't make any difference to youtube's attitude. Child endangerment is how they class it. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Onyx running equipment but RUclips take a different view.

We’ve started in southwest Iowa. Beans doing average, better than expected for the dryness this summer. Have a great & safe harvest millennial farmer crew!
As always another excellent video with some great content. I always appreciate seeing your dad and Jim in the videos. One thing about it, Jim is a man of few words. It’s great that you include so many people in your video content.
Yeah, it would be good to get Onyx's opinion of harvest. From all the videos I've seen with him in them, he appears to be a very responsible mature young man with a good head on his shoulders.
Onyx on camera??? Y E S !!!! Any thing he does will be great. It is just HIM!! I think he will surprise and amaze us. I am looking forward to it. He has had some excellent teaching and will expand on that with a fresh view point. Careful, you may need another CHANNEL!! This video was fantastic, as usual. Exactly what I have come to expect here. And the reason I anticipate the same from Onyx. Seriously Zack, it is wonderful the values and knowledge you are pouring into your children. I thank you for making MY world a lot better. Even that far away..
BRUH this brings back so many memories. Now 37 y/o, I grew up on an agricultural farm in the Netherlands, so most of the things seen in your videos are really familiar. But the part where you talked about Onyx' and his 'hearing problems' felt like I was 10 y/o again LOL This really is Quality Content here. And yes, that is spelled with a capital Q and C. I'm watching your videos back to back for over a day now, since I only discoverd you yesterday.
Beautiful photo. I’m excited to get moved to our beautiful property, the trees in the fall and the sunrises and sunsets are incredible! I shared a bit in our videos/shorts. Love the country!! 😍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Really glad your showing how everything isn’t always perfect with a combine. I’ve seen enough videos of guys claiming they have the best possible setup with the cleanest grain and no loss.
Rain at harvest time absolutely sucks. I grew up in a small Michigan farm town and you could tell when rain was coming by the attitude of farmers at the morning cafe breakfast place downtown where they'd get together to "talk shop" No fancy weather channel and other weather outlets then. Somehow they just knew when rain was coming. I'd stop in there to get coffee and a couple donuts on my way to junior high school.
Your video brings back memories of my late husband's family. His paternal grandfather, Maurice Miller, was one of the first farmers to introduce soy bean crops to south central Michigan. When I see soybean fields, I think of my father-in-law and his Godly farmer father. My father-in-law often says he wishes he'd never left farming.
We always checked for grain on the ground in front of the combine (wind shatter), behind the platform (reel shatter) and behind the machine (tossed grain). It doesn't take a lot of grain on the ground to lower your yield so it's worth the time and effort to get it right.
Can't believe this is my 4th or 5th harvest with you guys. Awesome to see the family grow. For sure on Onyx cam! The tech you deal with on a day to day basis is crazy Zach, nice job!
Harvest 2022 begins..... been there, done that, many years ago! Best of luck for a successful harvest! Until your next video ~~~ Stay safe, healthy and happy! 🚜
I'm glad to see those sensors on that combine. When I broke my arm after getting it caught in a power takeoff shaft in 8th grade, I had to wait in the emergency room while they took care of a guy who got limbs caught in some moving parts of a combine. His wife found him when he didn't get back for lunch. Anything that will prevent people losing limbs in combines is a good thing in my book. Oh- my arm is fine now.
On another channel. They have the air pushing system. Same problem but yet they brought up the the top head to keep the beans going into the head. Just sharing. Your kids are kids. Amazing also to watch. Goes with you said what, I didn't hear that. The amazing memories. Enjoy.
At about 1:02. That's a great thing. No matter how much machinery and computers and sensors and so on that gets used by farmers. You still can't do without a farmer going into his field to have a look with his own eyes. And maybe pull up a few handfulls and feel it for himself. It's ownership. It's care. It's respect for the land. All those things.
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. Thanks for the short clip on onyx racing. Trust he did well. The interesting fact from this video is how much you have to adjust the heads and the combine itself. It is not just a turn key operation. Lots of adjustments to get things set. The status of the crop whether it be corn or beans makes a difference on all the adjustments also. Zach, you and Jason and your dad had your fair share of adjustments to make but in the end you seem to be running pretty darn good. It is a process for sure. Thanks for showing us what you were doing. Is so interesting. About it for now. You all had a busy day getting things Dailed in. Ready to go now. You all take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for everything Zach. Most interesting. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
so nice to see Onyx helping out on the farm, there was a day in your dads time when Harvest started there wasn't a farm kid to be found in school for a month or two unless it rained -- being a town kid I had to be in school but on the weekends I either delivered groceries from our grocery store out to the farms or I helped farmers anyway I could -- mostly shoveling grain -- give Onyx a camera his prespective would be very interesting (we lived in Saskatchewan around the Norquay area in the 60s and 70s)
