Wouldn't it be more efficient to just ban users based on IP address rather than 'console code' if emulator users can just use any console code they want? Seems like, if you ban enough IPs, all of the big VPNs will eventually get have their domains banned and it'll be way too much of a pain in the ass (and potentially costly) for cheaters to continue abusing the platform.
IP bans are ineffective long term and at scale As you said VPNs exist. Trying to outright ban VPNs is a fools game, it’s nothing but cat and mouse. Even if we blocked every major VPN provider, there’s nothing stopping someone from renting their own VPS and self hosting a VPN. Not to mention that there’s perfectly legitimate users who would also be affected by an outright VPN ban Also not everyone has a static IP to begin with. Many people have rolling IPs, and there are other cases where an IP can naturally change even if you have a static one (moving far enough away, changing ISPs, etc.). Even something as simple as “connect your console to a mobile hotspot that’s using mobile data” will give you a different IP address Anything that would change the users IP address would immediately let them back online, making the IP ban useless So, no, banning IPs is not a real solution to permanently keeping people off our servers

I don't think the video game actors have much leverage. A.I. Is going to take most of their jobs eventually. It's already very easy to make voices or video using A.i.
IP bans are ineffective, since VPNs exist and not everyone even has static IPs. Trying to IP ban someone with a rolling IP is as effective as not banning them at all
@@SuperFlashDriver IP bans are just simply ineffective long term and at scale. Anything that would change your IP address (switching ISPs, rolling IP, using the device on a new network, etc.) would bypass a purely IP-based ban, since you’d have a new IP address.
