Solid coaching! I was just re-watching your fight with Frank Bruno, and I could see those same fundamentals at play- keeping the defense tight and firing back after blocking, minimizing the damage so you could outwork him- and man, did it pay off in the last round with that knock out. The perfect balance of patience and aggression. This video reminds me a lot of my late friend Mike, he was a good boxing coach- this kind of thing was always the first thing he taught.
When we can we see world famous cross arm guard? It's a dying lost art on the offense & defense side. You were one of the last & 1 of the best great to see you sharing your knowledge
Cool stuff, thanks Mr Witherspoon and Justin. Never going to be man enough to throw a fist myself but this kinda stuff lets me appreciate skilled boxers now I'm learning what to look for. This defense seems like you're putting a roll cage around your head.
Sometimes Tim, I have seen you use the cross arm defense similar to Archie Moore, George Foreman , Kenny Norton and even Azumah Nelson. How do you incorporate that into the defense ? Or do you only use that when you are in close and crouching and your right foot a little squared up ?
What an outstanding lesson from an outstanding heavyweight! I always enjoyed seeing your technical skills on display. I train extensively in Muay Thai and I can attest that tucking the elbows and using them defensively is vital to warding off punches, kicks, and anything else that comes your way during a fight. I’ll be gladly following this channel from now on!
this is awesome...brings back memories, always loved to block and shoot a short uppercut if backed up to the ropes, then right cross as i angled off but always still tight and in position to defend the way I watched you do to top opposition countless times...love it
thank you for sharing your knowdlege. How do you block the body jab with this guard? (to the midsection) Can you demonstrate it? Can you do please do a video on muhammed qawi´s fighting style? Respect from Germany
COVERED UP WITH THE EAR MUFFS ON.... I RATHER US THE PEEKABOO HANDS ARE UP BUT NOT IN A GUARD POSITION. THE IDEA IS FOR THE HANDS TO BE CLOSE SO REACTION TIME TO GUARD IS REDUCED. THIS WAY U DONT HAVE TO WALK AROUND WITH EARMUFFS ON ALL THE TIME

Thanks coach! Great team you have there. Loved the knowledge you share and the questions during the lesson as well.
Excellent video tim
Very effective
Man is not slurring so he avoided a lot of head shots
I got to know tim at a local gym in northeast Pennsylvania and he's a great guy
Good sense of humor and a real gentleman
This is amazing, thank you Coach
This is really good information. A lot of people move their arms too much to try and meet the opponent's punch. It's not realistic.

Fundamentals over flair. True with all martial arts imo.
Great Tim!
Thank you and appreciate you!!
Plant was find succes with that framing early. He got lazy and Canelo made em pay the same way anytime that arm came out in an attempt to frame.
This is the technique Usyk uses.
