Proper hand-washing allows a child to learn independence, coordination, order and concentration, in addition to good hygiene! Maria Montessori, a trained physician, recognized the importance of cleanliness, and sought to teach children at an early age how to incorporate this practical life skill into their daily lives. As it was a goal for Maria Montessori, it is also a goal for us!
