    "The History of Hindu India" (Part One) was developed by the editors of Hinduism Today magazine in collaboration with Dr. Shiva Bajpai, Professor Emeritus of History, California State University Northridge. It is intended to provide an authentic presentation of the early history of India and Hinduism for use in American 6th grade social study classes, as well as Hindu temple study groups and general presentations on the Hindu religion and history.
    This documentary is based on the first chapter of the textbook, The History of Hindu India, published in 2011. It covers Indian history from the Indus-Saraswati Civilization up to the Gupta period (to 300 ce). The Hindu concept of God is explained, along with the key concepts of karma, dharma, ahimsa and reincarnation, the practice of temple worship, major saints and the main Hindu scriptures.

    Me being an Atheist, who was brought up in a very strict Muslim family, i think Hinduism is one of the most peaceful and would have been the most powerful religion in term's of scientific and development if it was not for British rule. In fact Hinduism holy book's are more accurate of what happened in the past and its history compared to then any other religious book. Proud to be an Indian.

      Same! The thing that attracts me so much is how different it is from all the ancient religions of the world. It focuses on loving the Divine and your personal relationship with the Divine while most ancient religions focused on appeasing the different deities to avoid harm from them and in hope they would bless you.

      Hey, I'm Christian but I would argue Jainism(If you haven't heard of it you should definitely do some research on it if you like Hinduism and Buddhism) is the most peaceful religion due to it's extreme commitment to non-violence, and I don't mean extreme in a bad way. I love learning about different religions. God bless!

    Greetings from America. I have always been drawn to India, her music, wisdom, and her mysteries. I respect this great religion and civilization always...we should remember the great civilizations of the past and not settle for the cheap, materialistic world we live in today. I will always remember my college teacher in Juneau, Alaska in 2003 who really appreciated and admired India and Hinduism, he made us read important books pertaining to India and scriptures and stories. He couldn't say enough about her goodness, and I always appreciated this man for his unbiased mind and love for India. Thank you.

      The original and most ancient scriptures of Hindus are the Vedas...they consist of sacred hymns and verses composed by indian sages known as Rishis..and there were seven most prominent Rishis commonly referred to as the Saptarishis...there were also a few female sages who were involved in the composition of the Vedas..this was a continuous process occurring at least four thousands years ago...there were no temples during the Vedic age..instead the rituals were conducted by the priests who performed Vedic sacrifices known as Yaj which consist of sitting around the altar in which a sacred fire was lit and offerings were being made by chanting of sacred mantras...these offerings or vedic sacrifices were dedicated to the forces of nature who were represented by different deities such as Indra, Brahma, Agni , Varuna , Surya , Savita, Vayu, Rudra..among others...they were called Devas and Indra was their chief ...during later centuries around 1000 BC the philosophical aspect of the Vedas was being put forward by ascetic sages who were self realized beings who sat in deep meditation during long years and eventually achieved enlightenment..their findings were classified and compiled in scriptures called Upanishads...in the form of Vedanta philosophy....this Vedanta philosophy would be integrated during later centuries in the famous Bhagavad Gita along with other philosophical systems such as Samkhya and Yoga..the Gita was a serious reform in hindu religion after the appearance of Buddhist philosophy in India and eventually became the most revered hindu scripture till now..and Krishna gained recognition the most famous incarnation of hindu deity Vishnu who had in the meantime become one of the principal deities along with Brahma and Shiva...during the first millennium AD Vishnu , Shiva and Shakti gradually became the primary deities of Hinduism...while Brahma was relegated in the background...thousands of temples were being constructed during successive centuries in which the idols of the hindu deities were being installed for worship under strict supervision of the Brahmin priests Prince Rama of the Ramayana epic and Sri Krishna of the Mahabharata epic and the Gita are the most revered and famous personalities in hinduism since the last two millennium.. other deities who became famous are Ganesha , mother Kali , Skanda , Hanuman and a few others....the present era in hinduism known as the Puranic age started after the 8th century AD with the devotional type of worship known as Bhakti marg...and this mode of worship is based on the Puranas which are the main hindu scriptures along with the Gita..

    I wasn't born into Hinduism. But the neat thing is, I didn't seek out it. It sought me out. For a very long time, I wasn't religious or spiritual whatsoever, and nothing could change my mind.
    I have a lot of love and admiration for Hinduism now, though. I gave in to what my soul was being called to do, and haven't looked back since. Everything about it just feels right.
    I feel my soul strongly being called to go to India, as well. Almost like it would feel more at home there. So I hope to be there one day. अमेरिका से नमस्ते 🇺🇲🇮🇳

    I like so many aspects of Hinduism including learning from many gurus, to help a person ultimately find their own god within, Atman, their own essence, thus Hinduism aims to empower people and ultimately be their own guru. As well as a vegan, I respect Hinduism fundamental, cornerstone principle all of life is sacred, and to evolve a human must be kind to all life! Thus people whom are eating meat and do not need too, are creating much karma and inner turmoil for themselves. Living with compassion for oneself and all beings is a reward in itself. Wishing peace and joy to everyone.

    I just love the way how Sanatan Dharma gives every individual soul, born in any family, the liberty to choose our own deity/belief.. not FORCING it upon us but giving the liberty of CHOICE... since I could remember I am an ardent Shiva bhakt and wonder what if I had to believe in some other form of divinity for family or community sake! That would have been injustice to my soul... not only this but my mother and father never stopped me from going to other religious places of different religion NOR ever forced me to do a Pooja if I don't wish or go to temple or keep fast if I do not wish.. which eventually gave me a better insight of humanity and here I am today, blessed, loved and in total peace with my self and the world. No questions No complains.. Blessed are those who have these free will (even in human form)... peace and light to everyone.. proud to be Hindu... brilliant information on this video.. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💕💕💕💕💕 love India..Indians and everyone in this world...

    Correction regarding Maha Bhartha It's not to show fight between cousins or not fight for crown, it's about fight for Dharma. It's fight between Good and Bad. Maha Bharatha tells us many things how to live quality life.

    what an interesting religion. I have never known a religion to be entirely flexible with its worshiping practices and being open to people believing it how they want. That's one thing that turns me off about other religions; the fear factor that if you don't follow this particular religion then you go to hell. That always just came off as manipulative and a method of control. So it is neat to see a religion not use that, makes it seem much more honest.

    I really appreciate this video for such westerners as myself, the ancient culture of Hinduism has many of humanities required attributes. I do not agree with the glorification of Gandhi tho, for he had many negatives surrounding himself, from only supporting Indians in South Africa (and not the blacks), to never really speaking out against the British, he would only speak that his countryman were wrong for using non peaceful ways.

    • @abasednerd9412
      @abasednerd9412 2 года назад +5

      Even us Indian Hindus don't like him. Please don't judge Hinduism on the basis of Gandhi. Gandhiji actually never favoured Hindus, & his teachings were Christian-based and not Hindu based. He pretended to be secular, but he didn't speak a word when Indian Hindus were massacred & killed by the Radical Islamists during the Moplah genocide. India didn't gain Independence just by Gandhi's "Ahimsa" movement, there were several violent freedom fighters like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Khudiram Bose, Veer Savarkar & many many more. India gained Independence from the British through a terrible violent freedom struggle, in which people of all age groups regardless of age sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our beloved motherland India. Gandhiji delayed India's process of freedom struggle by several decades. Sadly, non-Indians hardly know about any other Indian freedom fighter than Gandhi, and many even get introduced to India through Gandhi. Gandhiji was a British-paid-puppet, & he never really loved Indians. Gandhiji doesn't deserve to be called "the father of India", India is one of the most Ancient civilizations on planet earth and Gandhiji is just a few years old. So I would request you to do proper research work on Hinduism & on Gandhiji before linking Gandhiji's Ahimsa ideologies to Hinduism.
