Chandler is my favorite character because he’s the definition of a guy that’s been dealt a bad deck of cards but made the most of it. He constantly talks about his parent’s divorce, his dad being... his dad, using humor as a coping mechanism, not getting girls, he talks about all the shit straight up. And in the end, he’s married with twins and a nice house in the suburbs
Kinda makes me feel better looking back on the days I spent getting high off my ass with my friends and when we used to steal our parent’s alcohol to get fucked up. I looked really happy and had a lot of fun but I was actually just really sad and almost killed myself various times. I would get in my car, go on the highway and just think about how far I would fly if I smashed my car into a barrier. I was struggling in school and reliant on adderall and eventually Percocets after an injury I got, and couldn’t hold a relationship for longer than 2 weeks. Chandler’s actor, Matthew perry, was addicted to prescription drugs and alcohol for years before getting back on his feet, much like chandler when he used to smoke cigarettes and had low self esteem and confidence. Makes me think life isn’t all bad. Finding God was the best thing to happen to me but I still fall many days. The important thing, whether you’re clean or on more drugs than humanly possible, is getting back up each time

I love how this group, especially Chandler, is basically just playing theirself IRL. Which comes apparent by the fact the “I’m sorry, we don’t have your sheep” line is improvised by Matthew Perry. Not only a very Chandler thing to say, everybody’s reactions are genuine and fit the scene - that makes this show brilliant!
