I was trying to pick my damn lock off my toolbox and I couldn't figure it out. Luckily I found this vid, and I just need two wrenches..... OH SHIT WAIT
@@johnmn3500 if someone was out to get you they wouldn't come in the door like a SWAT raid, they'd just light you up through the windows (which is what happened to a friend's dad while he was asleep), when you come outside and walk to your vehicle, or use flames to flush you out. People who think they can defend themselves in this world are living in a fantasy, the only defense you really have is that other people don't see a positive risk/reward in doing something to you, especially the ones closest to you.
Hmmm, nah, they do actually do something. They do keep out opportunistic thieves, just looking for something quick and easy. But yeah, if a thief is specifically set out to take something, they’ll figure out a way to disarm it without a key.
This is considerably easier when the lock isn’t locking anything. When the shackle has something locked in it, placing wrenches inside of the shackle, too, becomes a challenge that reduces or even eliminates wrench placement and/or leverage…
To expand and clarify Alexander's point, when something is in the lock, like a link of chain or the loop of a hasp, then the first wrench may not be necessary. Essentially, the first wrench is used to (1) provide the optimum height for the second wrench. It's the second wrench that breaks the lock and it just needs something - anything hard - to wedge it up to the right height, that allows the leverage needed. So if something is already in the lock (chain link, hasp loop, etc.) then you might need a smaller first wrench or small piece of any metal or possibly nothing at all. (2) The 2nd purpose of the first wrench is to provide a handle to give the second wrench grip to push against. Without the first wrench the second wrench handle push-motion is difficult unless there's something to hold the lock in place. If there's no first wrench handle to hold the lock stable while providing something to push against, it might work if the lock is against a wall or door - an alternate way to hold the lock stable. In that case you could possibly push the second wrench down against the lock if the lock is pressed up against the wall or door. But this wouldn't work with a free swinging locked chain since then there's nothing holding the lock to push the second wrench against. In that case maybe vice-grips clamping on the lock body from the bottom of the lock might solve that problem - using the vice-grips to push the second wrench against.
You lose a lot of force if you’re just using one wrench. Unless the object in the lock can be manipulated to same degree as a second wrench. Which is highly unlikely
Thank you!!! I am currently dealing with the problem at work where we use the first lock in the video to secure equipment in the street, and one of them that we don't have a key for made its way onto the equipment, and now we can't access the SD inside for the client. I sent this video to my colleague and my boss, and we are likely to attempt this tomorrow.
I can only assume its one of those 9 pound anti .50 BMG locks with boron shackles on them locked behind construction rebar and the clones of Ms. LPL herself.
Thank you LockPickingLawyer for making this video. I saw this video in my recommended and watched it months ago. I was able to use this method to break a lock that needed to be removed today.
Large problem here: The lock is going to actually be ON SOMTHING. This means you may not be able to fit two wrenches in there, less likely the exact position needed
The only thing wrong with this, is that there is usually a chain or something else that would keep you from getting 2 full size wrenches into the padlock.
you know that both ends of a chain get locked together by the padlock right. The chain doesnt go through the lock. So there will always be 1 full side without a chain in the way
The problem with ANY of these techniques is that in a practical situation, the shackle is going to be looped through or around another (probably metal) object and you may not be able to insert two wrenches into the opening.
The easiest solution if that's the case is to grab the lock with a pair of Irwin vice grips then just use one wrench and force them together, all the shit that is in the shackle will help achieve the same tremendous force on the shackle. but 99% of the time I don't even need to do this. the vast majority of padlocks on the US market are Horse S**t. and people seem to like gobbling them up so id rather spend the 30 seconds picking the locks than trying to make all kinds of noise trying to defeat the lock.
@@thottydagod457 That is true, but part of the effeciency of the method shown in the video is that with TWO wrenches, you are able to exert forces in opposite directions at the same time. With your recommendation..........not nearly as much force. But, possibly still effective.
@@quasimotto8653 I do Covert Entry testing as my job IRL I cover both commercial and residential security assessments and yes, showing my customers how horse s**t their padlocks are to a low skill attack like this is very much so in my job portfolio. of course I replace the lock but I usually try to upsell them to a better model like the ABUS padlocks with the narrow shackle well that mitigates these kinds of attacks. I usually recommend ABUS products as they are stunningly good quality and with a proper chain/locking mechanism they stop most low end thugs from busting through with ease. On the other hand Master padlocks (which make up a rather disgusting 60-80% of the US marketshare) have horrific flaws in them as, LPL has proven time and time again.
Success! Thank you! We managed to lock the keys in our garden shed. 30 seconds with your technique had the padlock off. And it almost still works! (Still locks and unlocks but too stiff to trust now).
Last summer, about a week after I watched this video, my neighbor called and asked if I had a way to remove a Master padlock from their shed. They lost their key. Been doing it just as you showed for many years. As an electrician I am always coming across lockouts on equipment breakers and switches with lost keys, or the guy who locked it out with his lock is no longer on the job etc. My dad showed me this method about 30 years ago, works on about any lock I've ever tried.
If the lock is attached to the usual loops they are attached to, you wouldn't have room to shove the wrenches up in there like this. You'd have to use tiny wrenches and work some weird angle.
Just a quick response to those suggesting this wouldn’t work if the lock was secured to something because there wouldn’t be room for wrenches... obviously the sizes of the hasp, shackle, and wrenches are factors and this will not ALWAYS be an option, but this will work in the majority of situations. Stay tuned, and I’ll shoot a video demonstrating this on locks in use, and some beefier locks... probably next week. 👍 Edit- Here it is: ruclips.net/video/oOSWXo9fpTI/видео.html

Could give you extra time to defend yourself
Exactly, I remember my Grandad's old farm house still had the skeleton key locks, and his doors were NEVER locked
I heard that one too from a firefighter instructor, I believe his exact words were 'they keep honest people honest’
Can you elaborate on what did u exactly use this method. 🤭✌️
thats actually a damn good point
Actually the chain inside of the lock is instead acting as the 1st wrench, making opening these with a single wrench possible.
Now I only need a padlock, two wrenches and a reason to break the padlock.
With that comment you have captured the essence of what it is to casually stumble on this video.

@@icantread1058 Or the one with practical experience..
You just cut through that part with a grinder or something then you can break the lock.
Is this supposed to be sarcasm? Please tell me this was just a joke fail
you know that both ends of a chain get locked together by the padlock right.
@@Hawkeye_PC ?????? But just for "purposes of experimentation", correct??? LOL
If its metal...then you can just use the other metal and one wrench if it's big enough
