Nice work man. Have you tried some other methods of laying blocks like placing the blocks from end to end first before filling in the vertical joint? Though this method is slow compare with how you do it but is popular in some parts of Africa and India
Hi Oboy! I've seen people fill their vertical joint's like this, however...as you just said .it's quite slow. Hope you well mate! Thanks for the support 🤜🤛
Hi Scott, really happy to hear you enjoyed it! No issues yet, however I've swapped to a much smaller trowel this week. I find it quick fast and tidy doing brickwork! All the best

Hi mate, great point and observation. As you can see from the text on the screen blues are more than suitable to do the job and if not...better. I've not once been pulled on my pad stones and every one of them for the last 8 years has been done this way. Something also to bare in mind. These steels are holding a few joists, and that's it. They are not load bearing. In fact drawing didn't even specify padstones for that reasoning. However cheers Tony appreciate your feedback ☺️ much respect, have a great week and hope your well
@@IzzytheBricky thanks for the reply, what does the SE scope call for Architects don't spec the structural stuff that's the job of the Structural Eng he's the one who specifies the block strength the mortar mix the size of the steels the size of the joists wall ties and spacings and if you haven't got that info then that's poor really poor, the client should have this and the building inspector should be reading what the SE has required ultimately that's what give the build its warrantee and completion cert from Building control. You don't use steels if there not load bearing if there taking joists there there to support the upper floor or roof structurally they are supporting a lot of weight the deflection would be notable if these were not in place, with the pad stones the concrete pad stones are the size of a block i.e. 215x440x100 and a-lot quicker to install than 3 course of Staff blues and probably cheaper.
