I love that your description cheekily says, "kind of!" - you absolutely explained the "trick" perfectly and even executed it as such, but it's less of a trick and more of an unbelievable ability to visualize the movement of specific cards in a 52-card stack PLUS a mastery of the insane small-muscle control it takes to actually execute it.
It isn't sleight of hand, it's mastery of a skill that precludes the need for sleight of hand!

I’ve been doing this stuff longer than Jason, just because I’m older. There are many aspects to card control that are extremely deceptive. My focus has always been understanding how cards get manipulated in a live game. Jason’s focus is on entertaining and fooling lay people and magicians alike. He’s good at what he does. I enjoy entertaining as well, but am more concerned with educating card players on what to look out for in terms of cheating. Take a look at my poker cheating exposed videos if you are curious how some of these moves get accomplished in actual games. Thanks for your comment.

@@KardSharp I'm learning card magic few monthes. For me is understandable that there are people who can control and manipulate the deck, where then know the start card positions. But can you explain, how is it possible to do this stuff when you start with shuffled deck? Jason has a few videos where another person shuffle deck for him and it looks impossible for me. Also there are few videos, where he shuffle the deck first, and only then makes a selection with help of Siri on spectator. So before he ends all shuffles, he cant know which card to track or to manipulate. Do you know how is it possible? At least an idea, maybe not a full expose

@@ShipDaMustard96best guess is: you cut at 25 cards (half deck minus one. most mages and cheaters can do it)
middle kings are at the top of the right deck
shuffle 13 cards each side (peaking, counting or faro shuffle. I think in this case he counted 13 cards on each side)
now you have 2 kings at the top of the right deck and 2 kings one on top of each other in the middle (this is the FIRST shuffle). the deck is now reunited.
now if you have in-joged the kings in the middle, you can pull the cards to the right, keeping those kings at the top
this is the SECOND and easiest shuffle. just keep the 4 kings at the top of left and right decks at the top. the deck is adjusted again.
last shuffle is deception: if you notice there are a bunch of cards on the left side (4+), so the kings are already there
THAT SAID. this is just the way I replicated it and it's INSANE! I can't possibly do it as smoothly as he does it!!

So with a little experimenting… after two faro shuffles two pairs of kings are together, one set on the top, one set on the bottom. A cut would bring them together in the middle. A third shuffle could be used to split the kings to one side and then maintain the top position during one more shuffle. But the problem is that a cut to the middle is required, so I’m missing exactly how he did it.

It should be obvious that if you cut the deck perfectly twice, all cards will be ordered in sets of 4 because of equivalent spacing. Then it's 'just' a matter of making the last cut so that you are leaving the kings at the top of one side, and then in the last shuffle, doing an uneven shuffle that does not disturb the top of the side the Ks are on.

If you had a way to expose another one of his tricks please let me know, it’s so crazy I have to know how it’s done. So I went to his show yesterday and I’m only 14, about halfway through he said “do I still have any people who think I’m fake?” And I raised my hand so I could come on stage. I still have no idea how he did this trick. I don’t remember it exactly, but it involved him with a deck that had all 52 cards, he asked me to pick a card, it was 3 of spades. he did some shuffling.
Then he spread all the cards out face down on the table. He spun a poker chip and it landed on one of the cards. It was in between two cards so he said I can choose whichever one I wanted. The one I chose was the 3 of spades. He even gave me the option to have him respin it before he showed it was the 3 of spades. I don’t know if there was some physcology involved as well but it was wild

New deck have kissing kings, so you don't do perfect 26/26 cut, you do 25/27 and now the 27 card pack has 2 kings on top. You shuffle them the way that it starts from the king's pack and end's to the kings pack while making sure that 2 of the top cards (king's) land in together, This was shuffle 1. Now you can do 26/26 cut, and you have 2 packs that both has 2 kings on top. You shuffle them and this was shuffle 2 and the Trick is already done, and now you have a deck with 4 kings on top. The last shuffle is just for show, and you can do whatever amount of shuffles u want, long as you make sure 4 top cards stay the same.

@@KardSharp if your shuffle is perfect, then it works exactly like I said. After 1st shuffle 2 kings are in top and 2 remaining kings are in position 25 and 26. You do 26/26 cut and shuffle and now u have 4 kings in top. Take a deck and manually interlace them 1 by 1, and you see it works. It requires a perfect shuffle. Mathematically, that's just how it works.

Basically you cut the deck to get one king on the top on on half and the two middle kings on the top of the other half with the last one at the bottom, you can then shuffle 3 kings at the top and shuffle the bottom king in to the middle, then by holding the break at the bottom king you can then split the deck in half and leave it on the top of one half to then shuffle it with the other 3 on top of the other half. The hardest part is bringing the bottom king to the top by shuffling it in the middle, holding a break and dropping the card.

In some cases Jason’s tricks require advanced sleight of hand that simply takes lots of practice (but are totally doable) it’s just about putting the time in. In other cases, the answers might be more simple than you realize. While many tricks are taught for free on RUclips (classic card tricks etc) there is a line you cross when you start to reveal something that earns a magician his livelihood. I am available for private lessons where I can begin teaching these kinds of advanced tricks. OR you can subscribe to my RUclips membership and I’ll start leaving these secrets there as well. I’m shooting the tutorials now and should have some uploaded soon. I’ll try and upload new ones every month and the membership is cheap… so… for what you are getting, it’s totally worth it. Let me know if that interests you.

You paint a beautiful picture. Yes, there are tricks that require deck memorization (and there are ways to memorize a deck stack that can be leaned with some practice. Muscle memory can also help you cut pretty close to specific cards, but there are other tricks and tools that help make this happen that you aren’t realizing. Like I said above, I’m not one to reveal secrets on RUclips that break the “magicians code” unless it’s a widely known classic … or a cheating secret that may aid in helping poker players understand what to look for from cheats. However, I will begin revealing secrets that guys like Jason and myself use for tricks like the one you are commenting on. But I’ll do it on my paid membership site. It’s just a few bucks a month. Some of these secrets are just too special to give away to the public. If interested, I hope you sign up. Yes… hours of practice is needed for many sleights … but there are also things (including this video) that can be learned and accomplished quickly if you know the “secret”. Hope to see you on the other side of the paywall!

It’s a fine question to ask. My answer would be this: whoever you are more entertained by. At the end of the day, both of them make a living as entertainers. They each use being a “card mechanic” as a hook to their act. Both are incredibly skilled at different techniques. Turner is very adept at skills more commonly used by card cheats whereas Jason has developed his style into a “magician fooler” act and does it quite well. Both have a beautiful “polish” to their card handling which is the trait of a great card magician who has spent many hours practicing in a specific way designed to entertain an audience. Get used to watching your dealer the way you watch other players look at their cards. Just make it part of your routine at the table. One thing a card chest hates is “heat”. The more players staring at dealer down during the shuffling and dealing and basic card handling process… (including muck management etc) the less confident theyll be about trying to “make moves”.

The thing that bothers me about his tricks is that he really can do them and they aren't your typical illusion as far as I'm aware.

Yeah, Jason "only" has a perfect control of his shuffles in those tricks. David Blaine mentioned a guy he know (not by name through) who mastered dice throwing, to get always the numbers he needs. Its really simple in concept, but i bet you would probably not be able to program a robot to do that, not to mention learn to do it your self.
When you find out how Jason is doing that - its even more impressive.

But he didnt explain how Jason did it after opening a new deck and someone else wash AND shuffled it And cut it while he was blind folded and still got the 4 kings. Matter of fact after the 3rd king he allowed them to wash and shuffle again before finding the last king. Of course its a trick and skill. But god damn.

I’ll do a blindfolded version for ya down the road. The blindfold doesn’t really matter because you don’t need your eyes to make these kind of controls.

@@KardSharp I understand that. Just meant it's impressive that someone else washed and shuffled it. Then half way through the trick. Washed and shuffled again. And he still did it. Skillful

that's why it makes me laugh every time someone accuses Jason of "photoshoping" his videos (that says a lot more about the accuser than Jason :)). Jason spend more time with cards in his hands than the accusers did with their d!cks in their hands. There are obviously many additional prep elements available for the tricks, so I always discard the preambles of "I am opening a fresh box" as if shrink-wrap is rocket science :) or even ordering a deck from China with pre-made card order for any given trick. But I think Jason just doesn't need those preps, he is just that good (doesn't change the fact that he is an asshole :))

    • @KardSharp

lol. Jason is a working magican who is very smart. During Covid when jobs were scarce he decided to go full force into making RUclips videos. While most magicians tend to make videos of tutorials, Jason found a way to "perform" to his audience on RUclips and fool laypeople and magicians alike, I can assure you he uses any method possible to achieve his tricks. From Gaff cards, to stacks, false shuffles, false cuts, etc. No one can memorize where every card in the deck is after a "true" shuffle without some sort of marker, indicator, gaff, or sleight. Having said that, he is great at needling his audience. His "asshole" persona works for him, and his fans (mostly non-magicians) are true believers! To that I say...BRAVO!

Anyone could see that. The only trick here is getting you to believe the comment that led to the "trick" was genuine.
