The real reason Columbus doesn't have a pro football team is because if they did, the next thing you know, Cleveland and Cincinnati would want a pro football team too!
When the Chargers were still in San Diego, they had a de facto monopoly on the LA market, mostly using it as a bargaining chip in their ultimately failed quest to replace Jack Murphy Stadium.

Why would there be? The cost to get a stadium built would be ENORMOUS. And where would they put it? Out in Queens or somewhere else on Long Island? Well maybe I guess but I don't see how that's a whole lot better than Northern New Jersey to be honest.
@@ashleighelizabeth5916 I’m old enough to remember when the Giants played in Yankee Stadium and the Jets played in Shea Stadium. So both were in NYC proper back in the day. But you’re absolutely correct - it would be cost prohibitive to build a modern football stadium in NYC now.
The Longhorns prevent Austin from having an NFL team. They control the city and dont want to give up any money spent by citizens in Austin who spend it on the longhorns to the NFL.
Technically Memphis did have an NFL team once. Louisville did have an NFL team the 1926 Louisville Colonels. And Columbus did have the Panhandels which joined the NFL in 1920 & folded in 1926.
Memphis native living in Nashville now. Came exactly to comment this. Honestly, there’s probably more Cowboys and Steelers fans in Memphis than Titans fans because of this.
I lived in Memphis when that happened. No one wanted to support a team that Nashville was gonna get. We tried for almost 20 years to get a team, and to host a team going to Nashville of all places was a slap in the face. One last thing, the Saints are definitely not the most popular team there.
San Antonio has tried repeatedly to get an NFL franchise. They built a dome under the “if you build it they will come” theory - didn’t work. The Saints relocated there during COVID and they tried to get them to stay - didn’t work. Red McCombs (very wealthy San Antonian) bought the Minnesota Vikings to lay the groundwork for a team in his hometown - didn’t work. I live in San Antonio and it’s weird - it’s a sports town. They support the Spurs, they host march madness tournament rounds, UTSA football and bowl games are popular. I think the league is concerned about dilution. Both the Cowboys and Texans sell a lot of merchandise here…
I too live in San Antonio. Its been a long and painful road this far getting to this point. In my opinion its our poor city planning and leadership that has cost our city an NFL team. . Not investing money decades ago into our local universities, our airport, our local businesses, and our infrastructure has caught up with us. Businesses like AT&T left SA for Dallas, young people left for better jobs and education. . However, the tide has shifted in the last decade. . UTSA and UT health are merging. Our airport is about to undergo a $2.5B renovation, multiple manufacturing and tech jobs are growing within the city. . Lastly there's discussion about PROJECT MARVEL. The construction of a new entertainment district downtown complete with a new SPURS NBA arena. . Rumor is those plans include major upgrades for the Alamodome. I pray the Alamodome does NOT get renovated. Instead SA should save money (3-5 Billion) and have the plan in place for when the next team relocation or expansion occurs. Then once a deal is made, construction begins
@@forgottenplaces9780 I don’t live in Jacksonvill, but I am from Florida. It wouldn’t make sense to add a team in San Antonio lol when another state can have one that doesn’t. Texas isn’t Florida

It's not the size of Memphis that is a significant factor but the poverty of the population. There aren't enough people who live in Memphis who could afford a ticket to an NFL game and that's why the NFL will never put a team in Memphis.
Population growth and disposable income are the two largest factors on where to move a team. That rules out A LOT of the nation based on these two factors alone... San Antonio seems like one of the few shining spots in the nation with these two factors that's also out of the existing teams exclusive marketing zone...
I think the issue with San Antonio or Austin getting an NFL team is less about the power of Jerry Jones and more about the popularity of the Cowboys in Texas. I think a lot of people that have the ability to get a team to those cities recognize it as a risky investment with how difficult it would be to break into that stronghold at a cultural level.
San Jose already has a team. They're called the 49ers. Oakland will never have a team in ANY league ever again. Sacramento will get a team before Oakland does.
Gotta think that San Diego will be a prime candidate for another team given how badly the Chargers fans there got screwed. The league seems to favor making that kind of thing right by awarding new franchises.
As someone who lived there for 12 years, St. Louis doesn't care about football. They're the only city that has failed FOUR TIMES. The NFL isn't going back, and aside from a few dozen butthurts, most of the city doesn't even notice, let alone care.
St. Louis couldn't hold on to either of its previous NFL teams, plus it could've had its own expansion franchise back in 1995 (with no long-term connection to a different city), but in '93 there was infighting among potential team investors there, thus the expansion franchise was awarded to Jacksonville instead.
San Jose already has an NFL franchise. They are called the San Francisco 49ers. They play in Santa Clara, which is a suburb city immediately adjacent to San Jose...very close to downtown San Jose, in fact.
@@josephbright3946 No, he cited San Jose as a city that "WILL NEVER Get An NFL Team". It's in the title. He should have done a video about "Cities Falsely Claiming They Have An NFL Franchise"...San Francisco could top that list.

@claycassin8437 no did you watch the video? He clearly said san jose won't get one because 49ers are in Santa clara. Very clearly. Too close together. I don't think 90% of people did actually watch or pay attention.
@@josephbright3946 I guess you missed my point. They are not the San Francisco 49ers. They are the San Jose 49ers. Santa Clara, if you want to get cute with it and literally name your location. But, San Francisco is far away. Much farther away than many other NFL cities. San Francisco no longer has a team. They are faking it. San Jose does. Did I clarify?
San Jose basically does have an NFL team haha. It’s just “tradition” to keep calling them the San Francisco 49ers but the San Jose airport is right by the stadium
Sacramento will never get an NFL team even though it's the 20th largest TV market. It's too close to San Francisco... Not as close as San Jose, but still just 90 miles away from SF. Sac has a huge Niners and legacy Raiders fanbase anyway.
As a Scottish perspective, for what it matters. St Louis, Austin, San Diego and Oklahoma would be my 4 choices. However I’d like to see 8 teams, add in Toronto and another Canadian team (Montreal?) with two others in there.
Oklahoma City would actually make a great NFL city in my opinion. Even with the Oklahoma Sooners somewhat relegating OKC to "de-facto college town status" - the main campus is roughly 20 miles from the city proper - I believe that would only help grow the team's fanbase. The key is to hit the ground running in fielding a competitive team, much like the Thunder did when they came to town. Bonus points if they can sign a few ex-Sooners, or even ex-OK State Cowboys as their fanbase is substantial in their own right.
St Lo has issues with the city not wanting to get sucked into paying for another stadium. They've had two teams abandon them and screw them over and they don't seem eager to test those waters again. But ya know never known. Austin is a no go. The University of Texas football team has one of the largest fanbases in the state and their stadium is literally in downtown Austin (as is the rest of the campus). San Antonio is a better choice since it only has an NBA franchise and no college teams with enormous fanbases. It's also growing almost as fast as Austin and is only a couple of hours drive away. San Diego absolutely should get a team. It's far too large of a city not to have and NFL team, it's a favored location for hosting Super Bowls because of the warm weather in the winter and the former Charger fanbase was a good one that was loyal to a team that wasn't all that good for most of it's time in the city. Additionally the NFL has shown a pattern of getting teams back into markets that have been deserted by previous owners. OK.... well maybe... However that has always been primarily college football focused and would have some of the same issues that Austin does. And outside of the OK City and Tulsa the state is pretty empty. It's also not terribly far away from where the Kansas City Chiefs play.
@@geoffroi-le-HookThat’s the thing. The English Premier League has had and the English Football League has teams in Wales (Cardiff, Swansea & Wrexham) and the Scottish Professional Football League has English teams play there, Gretna and long time member in Berwick. Also Monaco plays in the French league too. This does not worry my European way of thinking.
@@HomerSimpson51256 within their level of play they are but if Ohio State's best ever team could play the worst Cleveland or Cincy Team ever the pro teams would still kick the shit out of them. The best college teams might have at most a half a dozen players good enough to start on a pro team. A pro team has 22 such players on the roster.
Besides Austin or San Antonio, the other likely cities for potential US based NFL franchises would be Salt Lake City, St. Louis mostly because I think the league owes them a team, and maybe Raleigh Durham If the CFL ever goes under or they finally agreed to have American NFL teams play there then Toronto would be another great candidate. People in Toronto like big-time football they don’t like the CFL
The Raleigh-Durham market is already larger than some NFL markets, but it would be a difficult sell for the NFL given that there are over 140,000 D1 college football seats in the metro among NC State, UNC, and Duke. Maybe when the Triangle reaches 3M it could happen, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Raleigh is too close to Charlotte and the Eastern part of North Carolina has been part of the Washington fanbase for decades. I grew up there and a ton of kids in school were diehard Washington fans.
@@karnubawax that's not the only reason but it certainly helps. Austin would be a hard sell with UT sucking up so much of the oxygen in the sports market. But a team somewhere on the North East side of San Anton would probably do well.
As someone from Louisville, I pretty much agree with your assessment. I feel like we're too much of a college town to ever be serious for a professional team. That may change someday, but I can't see it happening any time soon. Also, it's not just the Cards but the Cats too. One could argue that its more so the latter.

Both San Antonio and St. Louis are hotspots for NFL expansions. You can see the crowd turnouts during UFL games. I don't know why Jacksonville wants to move their team to London when it is a lot more profitable to move them to San Antonio or St. Louis.

The owner of the Jags has some connection to London (think he owns a soccer team but don't quote me on that). It's probably not going to happen because the logistics would be a nightmare. The idea of the NFL expanding outside of North America is pretty much a pipedream when you stop to think about how difficult it would be deal with the logistics of a team permanently based in Europe.
Expansion? Really, doesn't the NFL already have perennial cellar-dwellers living solely off TV rights? Is there really a need for a further dilution of talent? How many more teams are required to keep balance in the divisions? 4? 8?
They usually add them 2 at a time. For years and years there were divisions that only had 4 teams while other divisions had 5 teams. The standard practice is to add one AFC and one NFC team at a time and they usually (but not always) stick them in the division that makes the most sense geographically. What's been the pattern is to add teams in pairs every 5-7 years until there are enough to form a new division and then reorganize the entire structure of divisions (and sometimes conferences too). In the 60s there was only an East and West division for the NFL and the AFL. Then they added a Central division for both conferences in the 70s. Then in the early 2000s they went to the now current system with an East West North and South division. As to why they want to add more teams obviously so they can make more money. When they hit a certain number of additional teams they will reorganize the playoffs to add more playoff games as well which makes even more money. So far as diluting talent level goes. Well there are 128 FCS teams in the country with an even greater number of FBS teams out there. With over 300 teams to potentially farm talent from I don't think they are going to lower the quality of the product too much by adding more teams any time soon.
The NBA failed in San Diego twice with the Rockets(Houston) and Clippers(LA), and failed in St.Louis once with the Hawks (Atlanta),The Seattle SuperSonics would be back in the NBA before San Diego and St.Louis.
I live in San Antonio and i hate that we get lumped in with Austin. As if its a package deal. Either one city gets a team while the other doesn't. Or we are forced to share a team. Screw that!!! Each city should get its own team. Each city has over a million people and are each growing fast. In my opinion: 4 Texas teams is perfect and would make a killer NFL division, full of rivalries and competition.
If you can easily drive to a game, that’s good enough. Some of us are nowhere close to an NFL city, so if there’s an NFL team an hour away, just take it and count yourself blessed. Don’t get greedy. I hate when areas have more than one team when others have none.
You mention both San Antonio and Austin; and that area along I-35 has grown so much, the southern Austin suburbs are merging into the northern San Antonio suburbs (much as the Philly & NYC suburbs are merging along the Jersey Turnpike around Exit 8A). The area is so massive, it could just about support teams in BOTH San Antonio AND Austin.

Toronto and London.... But... They would have to greatly allow for them to have salary cap adjustments because they would have to pay a lot more for talent to want to come (have you seen the income tax rates in the UK?).
I think NFL expansion could work with an 18 game season, two bye weeks per team, and shuffle the teams into six 6 team divisions, preserving essential rivalries along the way.
I could see Vancouver , Toronto , Montreal , London , Salt Lake City , Oklahoma City , Portland , St Louis , San Antonio , or Hartford getting an NFL Team

I'm typically a guy who loves to play Madden and move a team to Orlando, but I have to admit... I only think that itself is believable if it's Tampa or Jacksonville. No teams from outside the state will ever move here, I am confident of that, and I don't see Orlando getting an expansion team unless they expand to 40 teams along the way. (I think Brooklyn is more believable in-game, and that's saying something -- typically moving Washington and not JUST because I can then change the name.)
I can honestly say most people in Memphis do not care about the Titans, or any Nashville based sports team. If Memphis for whatever reason (it would never happen) got an NFL team it would have no problem drawing news fans here seeing as the two cities absolutely hate each other. Not to mention you have several major corporations based in Memphis so it would be too crazy for someone in Memphis to buy and finance an NFL team if Nashville never had a team.

I can't believe there's folks that still believe St.Louis should or will get another NFL team. SMH. The NFL got exactly what they wanted by moving the Rams back to LA into the new corporate headquarters stadium, increasing the value of the team, meanwhile expanding the fan base of the Chiefs to the whole state of Missouri including the St. Louis metro area. The St.Louis department stores all sell Chiefs apparel and memorabilia while the folks buy and wear it all over town. The local network sports coverage always includes the Chiefs the same way they always did the Rams and the Big Red. Chief signs and logos are displayed everywhere. The city now has the Battlehawks who play at the dome where the Rams played. And the city also settled themselves with a major league soccer team. Built a new stadium for that. Nah, St. Louis has been turned into Chiefs nation, and most of the NFL fan base there have fallen for it.

San Diego (Metro 3.3M, ranked 18th) has a larger market than Saint Louis (Metro 2.8M, ranked 23rd) and San Antonio (Metro 2.7M, ranked 24th). So just based on market, San Diego and Saint Louis should get the next 2 expansion teams. However, (eventually) I see the NFL expanding to 40 teams, with a whole 4 team division in Europe (London for sure, maybe another UK team, and 2 teams in Germany). Then they'll need 4 more teams from North America: San Diego, Saint Louis, San Antonio or Austin, and then possibly Portland or Salt Lake City. I think the NFL needs more teams in the northwest (currently only has Seattle).
St Louis isn’t going to lift a finger or offer a dime to help the nfl. Any future team in STL will have to pay for everything and that just isn’t going to happen.

Birmingham has always been considered for an NFL team, but they now have a professional team in the Birmingham Stallions which has won 3 straight USFL Championships.
If the NFL ever goes international, it'd be the Jaguars moving to England. The Khans have a lot of ties to England, not to mention all the trips they already make. It's just a matter of time.
It's not true that Louisville wouldn't support an NFL team. The NFL is very popular here. The majority are not fans of the Bengals, or the Colts, like so many out of towners seem to think. Those that are would drop them in a heartbeat if we had our own team.
On paper, yes; it has the population and growth that could attract the NFL. In practice, no, because of the juggernauts of the Utah Utes and BYU Cougars (aka the Holy War) as well as an active push for an MLB franchise in Utah.
Memphis was one of the few USFL teams that drew well and were embraced by their city in the mid 1980s. I think Memphis absolutely could support it's own NFL franchise. They only didn't support the Oilers because it was already known that it was Nashville's team.

Kinda surprised to not see Honolulu on this list. Relatively big pop (1M) and the NFL has history here, but I give zero chance we ever sniff a franchise.
An NFL team in Honolulu would have many of the same logistical issues that is also affect London. Besides, Aloha Stadium, a technological marvel when it opened in the mid 70s, is now condemned.
I can see a team in Richmond, as that area has grown tremendously, and would draw fans from up the I-95 corridor as far north as the DC exurb of Fredericksburg, as well in the I-64 corridor between Charlottesville and Norfolk.
Jones was instrumental in arm-twisting the other owners to allow Stan Kroenke moving the Rams back to Los Angeles. Clark Hunt also supported it because it made his Chiefs the only team in Missouri.
Louisville is too small of a market that is not growing. Also, a new arena will need to be built. The downtown KFC arena is unfortunately outdated by current standards. But then again, New Orleans and Memphis have teams. Neither one is growing, even lower than Louisville.
Any city that would cough up $3 -$5 billion for a new stadium and facilities can snare an NFL team. The sheer greed of the league and it's owners would put a team in Alaska if they could make enough money out of it. Until 10 years ago Las Vegas was a no-no, but they got a team so I'd never say never if enough money was on the table.
ZERO percent chance San Antonio will ever get a team. It’s a one sport city. And that’s the spurs. Not to mention, people there are Cowboys fans. And they have a VERY small TV market. Austin would be chosen over SA. Also, you obviously have no idea how much power Jerry Jones has. Maybe he’s just one owner, but he is also the owner of the most valuable sports franchise in the world

I’m a biased Okie but I believe Oklahoma City would work well. The negatives are low state income and proximity to Dallas/KC but past that Oklahoma is a football crazy state. Tulsa and OKC combined metro areas are 2.4 million and less than 1.5 hours apart. They have no problem filling up 2 major college football stadiums each Saturday. The only pro team in the state (OKC Thunder) is known to have the best home crowd fan base in the NBA.
If Oklahoma City were to get an NFL team they would need a dome capable of withstanding strong tornado force winds. It would be a good football fit, provided the metro population is stable enough.
@4:50 Memphis indeed probably would never get a NFL team but it should be noted that FedEx's Fred Smith and his family (including son Arthur, former Falcons head coach and current Steelers OC) is likely on the shortlist of potential NFL team owners whenever another team does come up for sale

1) Agree on San Jose, legally San Jose can't in that aspect 2) Albuqurque just sounds like a stupid city to put a team...that's a given. Plus it's a college town 3) I may have to respectfully disagree on Memphis, I think they'd test the waters on an NFL team...and if Roger Goodell wants it, the Titans will change their name to Nashville (And the only reason it failed in the late-90's is because the Liberty Bowl is a dump) 4) Louisville is a college town...I don't think "team loyalties" is a valid reason. A new fresh NFL team in your city would totally change that 5) Ohio isn't a big enough state to house 3 NFL teams...but Columbus is a solid sports city San Antonio needs a better building than the Alamo Dome. Austin is Longhorns country...no NFL team is needed there.
While it won’t happen for the reasons you mentioned, I would immediately jump from the Browns to a Columbus team. I’m a diehard Browns fan, having never missed a game for as long as I can remember, but I’m a Columbus native above all and am proud of it. Plus, the Browns haven’t exactly done enough to keep my fanbase for as long as they have. It’s a very toxic relationship.
I think you greatly underestimate how much pull and influence Jerry Jones has on the league and it's owners. He's pretty much the reason/catalyst that got Stan Kroenke and the Rams back to LA. As long as he's living there won't be teams in Austin or San Antonio.
If either Austin or San Antonio get a team, I'd be surprised. Both the Cowboys and now the Texans would have to OK it and neither want to dilute their fan base.
Surprised Albuquerque was mentioned. As a resident the thought of an NFL team here never really crossed my mind because of the reasons you’ve stated. I could see possibly an NBA team similar to the Thunder. Basketball is the most popular sport amongst young people here and our two D1 schools have had more success in basketball than any other sport. But there are other cities more deserving of one than ABQ.
Uhhhh....I believe South Texas has a football team. I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure the Houston Texans play in southern Texas. But I could be wrong, although right now, they are the bane of the Colts existence.....

The CFL would never allow a full-time Canadian NFL team. It would be like having an English Premier League team in Edinburgh or Aberdeen.

If the CFL ever goes under or they finally agreed to have American NFL teams play there then Toronto would be another great candidate.
@@johnlabus7359 The only reason San Antonia is a good pick is because it doesn't have a huge college base.

I agree about the talent situation. Especially at certain positions. Plus each team plays six games in their own division.

@moneyonfleek1992 Portland should have a team and it if ur team doesn't play in that state then it ain't yours. And fuck Jerry Jones he has cowgirl fans all over this country in large numbers. The rams were gonna move to LA no matter what that's why there was that 4 year lawsuit that happened. OKC has a capability to hold a team and it would be a great spot to hold a SB. And if u have management interested in playoff regular u get fans, just like what happened with the rams. U don't show up to win and build to win u struggle. SD was robbed and should have a team start in SD not moved there and the fans will show up especially for games against the chargers. The West coast needs more football to survive financially. Not like the league is struggling but it forces other teams to actually support there city.
@@moneyonfleek1992first of all, Utah isn’t a city lmao

San Jose HAS a team, San Fransisco does not have a team. the way you present this is just nonsense.
Part of the reason that the A's couldn't move South closer to San Jose was because the Giants already claimed San Jose as their market territory based on an old agreement within MLB. I don't think the same agreement would apply to NFL.
Red McCombs from San Antonio bought the Minnesota Vikings in 1998, and many people in the Alamo City believed that he would move the Vikings. It didn’t happen.
Austin is too dominated by the University of Texas. No chance of an NFL team here anytime soon.
Santa Clara where the 49ers play is right next to the San Jose international airport 😂😂😂
Memphis was on the running for awhile. I remember in the early 90's the finalists were Memphis, Charlotte, Jacksonville, Baltimore. Always felt bad they got left out. Would have really helped the city i believe.
Dude if we got a team besides Nashville it would have been so great, we more than likely would have still got an NBA team and having both the NFL and NBA here when our population was larger than Nashville would definitely helped out our city.
Something bigger coming to Memphis.....watch what I tell ya.
@TommyTomTompkins What would be bigger?
First of all, go buckeyes I see you're a big buckeye fan and I'm from the area as well. Second, I think you are right on on all those cities. They do make sense now. There's a couple other cities I've wondered like Oklahoma City or salt lake or Portland. Wondering what your thoughts are or if those would be good for some teams. There are some other cities I can't think of
St. Louis will never get one again.
They don't deserve one. Aside from a few dozen butthurts, most of the city didn't even notice when the rams left.
@deansch6089 why would they want another NFL team after the Rams screwed over the St Louis taxpayers?
@@deansch6089wrong
I think Sacramento, Ca would do well with over half a million in the city and 2.5 million in the area. It may never happen because the Bay Area is too close.
St. Louis & San Antonio will get the next 2 expansion teams those are the last big football markets that don't have an NFL. team in my opinion .
San Antonio isn't getting a team
They should but as of now I see no big plans by the NFL to expand. Mayve when Godell is gone.
@@jasonkoch3182 I think that is the way of the NFL, going to need a rich owner (or owner group) in most cases to foot the bill for a new team and stadium.
I think you just about covered it. College football is so big in the south it has stadiums few NFL fans could fill. I think things are good the way they are
When is the State of New Jersey getting their own NFL football 🏈 team??? ☹️
Just remember this, folks. ☝️ There is only ONE NFL football 🏈 team in the State of New York. The Buffalo Bills 🦬 (Village of Orchard Park, Erie County, New York). 😃👍
YEAH RIGHT! I'll take the Jets or giants over Your heard of buffaloes any day.
7:49-8:15 Do you wanna bet? Jerry Jones has more power than you think. Plus he has more connections and influence on other NFL Owners.
As a Nashvillian I'm always thankfull that we have an NFL team. Also most people in Memphis are either cowboys or steelers fans
Grew up in Memphis (live in Nashville now). Can confirm
@LIFEWITHTHEJONESES1 yes definitely not the Saints. By a long shot. I wish Memphis would get a team. The Memphis/Nashville rivalry would be intense.
I heard most ppl in Memphis won't root for the titans since they used to play there and left
@@great-one0389that is true

Birmingham has always been considered for an NFL team, but they now have a professional team in the Birmingham Stallions which has won 3 straight USFL Championships.
If the NFL ever goes international, it'd be the Jaguars moving to England. The Khans have a lot of ties to England, not to mention all the trips they already make. It's just a matter of time.
Forget about that, Jax just had a total stadium renovation approved
A look, a dumbass comment about the Jags moving to England. Haven’t heard that constantly for the last 15 years
There won't ever be a NFL team in Europe they just need to bring back the NFL Europe and call it a day
It won't happen but if it does, the NFL is fucked. It's a horrible idea.
It's not true that Louisville wouldn't support an NFL team. The NFL is very popular here. The majority are not fans of the Bengals, or the Colts, like so many out of towners seem to think. Those that are would drop them in a heartbeat if we had our own team.
Could Salt Lake-Provo and that whole huge north to south conurbation along the Salt Lake ever get one?
Not with a NBA and NHL team now.
If they get an MLB expansion team not a chance. Not a big enough market for 5 pro teams.
True

Richmond or the Norfolk area. Of course, you would have to pay off the Washington Football Team for lost market share.
Since the 49ers basically play in San Jose, it should've been replaced with Portland, OR.
Portland does NOT Deserve to have ANY PRO TEAM. Neither does ANYWHERE ELSE in Oregon!
Random thought
What current NFL metro if it didn’t already have a team would never be considered for expansion/moving?
You forgot:
Helena, Boseman, Bismarck, Pierre, Spokane, Boise, Oklahoma City, Fresno, Sacramento, Portland, Eugene, Salt Lake City, Wichita, South Bend, Gary, Columbus, Lexington, Greensboro, Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Birmingham, Tallahese, Orlando, Savannah, Richmond
...
You forgot Des Moines.
The NFL will never grant a team to a city with a woman's name.
Portland, Oregon might get an NFL team one day, but definitely not Portland, Maine.
What about Omaha?
Don’t forget Beaumont!
Kinda surprised to not see Honolulu on this list. Relatively big pop (1M) and the NFL has history here, but I give zero chance we ever sniff a franchise.
Never say never, I mean HS football is HUGE on O'ahu. Ticket prices would have to be astronomical though to cover all the travel expenses.
An NFL team in Honolulu would have many of the same logistical issues that is also affect London. Besides, Aloha Stadium, a technological marvel when it opened in the mid 70s, is now condemned.
Let’s add 4! They could play each other twice and then be the 17th game for the other teams! Portland, San Antonio, St. Louis, and San Diego!
I can see a team in Richmond, as that area has grown tremendously, and would draw fans from up the I-95 corridor as far north as the DC exurb of Fredericksburg, as well in the I-64 corridor between Charlottesville and Norfolk.
Jerry Jones maybe only 1 of 32 owners but he has more power than all of the other owners and Godell combined.
I'd have to argue that Robert Kraft has just as much pull with the owners as Jerry Jones
Jerry doesn’t even crack the top 5 richest NFL owners, he definitely has the best location for football though
Jones was instrumental in arm-twisting the other owners to allow Stan Kroenke moving the Rams back to Los Angeles. Clark Hunt also supported it because it made his Chiefs the only team in Missouri.
No, Jerry just has a larger mouth. One that needs to be super glued shut.
He was the only Pepsi team when the rest of the league were Coke teams
I heard Birmingham Alabama thrown around a bit when I lived there awhile back.
Louisville will get an NBA team in the near future either by expansion or by a relocated New Orleans Pelicans franchise .
Louisville is too small of a market that is not growing. Also, a new arena will need to be built. The downtown KFC arena is unfortunately outdated by current standards. But then again, New Orleans and Memphis have teams. Neither one is growing, even lower than Louisville.
Expansion
@ an arena is already built and it’s NBA ready too
I could see Louisville getting an NBA team but that would be it for pro sports there.
@dvferyance maybe or possibly get a mlb team too
Any city that would cough up $3 -$5 billion for a new stadium and facilities can snare an NFL team.
Maybe he’s just one owner, but he is also the owner of the most valuable sports franchise in the world
But Jerry Jones is in his 80's he aint going to be around too much longer.
Jerry Jones can't stop a third Texas NFL team on his own; he would have to convince 8 other owners to vote against it.
@ still irrelevant that San Antonio can’t support an NFL team. I lived there for a long time. It was always talked about, never came close to happening.
@ 24/32 owners have to ok it. That being said, it’s been talked about going to San Antonio with a team. Never came close. When I lived there it was an every year thing.
Austin, yes. San Antonio, no
I’m a biased Okie but I believe Oklahoma City would work well.

Any city in Canada 🇨🇦 is subject not to have an NFL team: the CFL exists.
memphis showboats? san antonio brahmas? pro football team or nfl team?
1) Agree on San Jose, legally San Jose can't in that aspect
2) Albuqurque just sounds like a stupid city to put a team...that's a given. Plus it's a college town
3) I may have to respectfully disagree on Memphis, I think they'd test the waters on an NFL team...and if Roger Goodell wants it, the Titans will change their name to Nashville (And the only reason it failed in the late-90's is because the Liberty Bowl is a dump)
4) Louisville is a college town...I don't think "team loyalties" is a valid reason. A new fresh NFL team in your city would totally change that
5) Ohio isn't a big enough state to house 3 NFL teams...but Columbus is a solid sports city
San Antonio needs a better building than the Alamo Dome.
The Browns are the only team never to play or host a Super Bowl.
Birmingham Al could be ten times bigger but college football will always be king in that state.
Lived in Huntsville for several years and never met one soul pining for the NFL.
Pro football would be a step down for those fanatics.
