Ferruccio Lamborghini sold the company to Chrysler in 1987 due to the 1970s gas crisis and its impact on the high-performance luxury car market. And while it has changed ownership several times since, the only REAL Lamborghini's are the ones sold in 1987 and PRIOR. Prior to 1987, all parts, the engineering, design, and production, were actually done by Lamborghini. Since you own a couple, you need to take off your brake calipers and look on the back of them, check out the engine block, the heads, etc.... You will see imprinted in steel, the Audi logo, and Volkswagen manufacturing. BTW: Audi R8: This mid-engined supercar can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds.
