The funniest part about this game is that the gameplay has absolutely no connection to palindromes (beyond the play area being symmetric), it's just a palindrome-THEMED card game. Somebody made this game and then decided that the perfect wacky hilarious set-dressing would be... palindromes.
I was talking to an indie game designer at a convention (PAX Australia) and he said theming is everything. You have have the best mechanics in the world (and this clearly was workshopped as just a numbers game), but if you want to get a publisher interested and move some copies, having a theme that will grab people by the eyes is essential. Here, the bright colours and whimsical palindromes indeed have nothing to do with anything mechanically, but it'll sure make you more likely to pick up the box at a FLGS than "numbers duel".
You can't, because each player loses the same number of cards in each duel, so no matter what you will always have the same number of cards as your opponent. As in the video, a jumbo attack cannot use all remaining cards in your hand.
Palindromes are fun!
Also the rule about skipping spaces is great, keeps the game from running forever.

Can someone clarify about playing any card when you attack? The rules made it sound like you had to play your highest card...
Okay I found where it says you can attack with any card. The initial example in the rules sayining play your highest card makes this super confusing.
