    Former bus driver here. We had some Optare Solos with similar rancid features: if you press the accelerator while releasing the parking brake the engine stays at idle until you release the accelerator. If you release the parking brake with the doors open (read: while they're closing but before they've fully shut) the accelerator would either be unresponsive or the brakes would stay on until the doors had shut.
    Many times I'd be stopped at a junction, parking brake on, waiting for a gap. Focus on traffic - here comes a gap - release brake and accelerate - oh no we're not moving. Shift focus from road to powertrain and quickly troubleshoot (slam the accelerator up and down a few times until some timeout is reached). Hopefully you don't miss anything while distracted.
    Or leaving a bus stop: passenger rings bell, stop at bus stop, apply parking brake, focus on door and bus stop area, open door. Passenger gets off, close door, sweep focus from bus stop to saloon mirror to offside wing mirror, indicate, release parking brake, accelerate BUT NO the doors are only 85% shut.
    It was a distraction that shifted my focus from the road to the powertrain, punished correct use of the parking brake, gave a strong negative incentive to only use the footbrake and keep control of when you can drive off.

      also lol at the idea of a traffic supervisor taking a bus off the road for any heating-related reason other than it being literally on fire. maybe it's different in London? every bus I drove had no heating controls I could access except the windscreen demister.

    Nice driving Joe.
    There are different door interlock settings in different bus company. Likely in Hong Kong, the ADL Enviro500 MMC in KMB with same Ventura door aren’t need to hit the brake to unlock the footbrake. In other bus company, CTB, front door of the ADL buses doesn’t required footbrake lock system.
    I wonder if Studio Polygon adding variable of the settings🤔 it would be fun
    Can’t wait the amazing update of this bus🤩

    Really enjoyed this as it's where I grew up so I know the area very well, that being Battersea, but just for some information, Battersea Power Station does actually look like it's floating from Pimlico due to its sheer size and also the Thames at high tide helps with the illusion. The railway Bridge before Chelsea Bridge is the the line that goes to Victoria and is the same line with the bridge you saw just after the roundabout, but it does split into two, one line goes to Queenstown Road and one goes straight to Clapham Junction. As for the buildings that look toppled, they're actually like that in reality, but they have plants on them to blend into Battersea Park right opposite them, to your right. One last thing, it's interesting the instructions were to go back over Chelsea Bridge to QB as a lot of drivers just go straight on and cross Vauxhall Bridge then go onto Nine Elms, eventually rejoining Queenstown Road, this is because Nine Elms and Vauxhall Bridge have bus lanes, so it's much quicker than going over Chelsea Bridge (QB is Battersea Garage code and stands for Queenstown, Battersea). All the best with the videos, absolutely love em, can't wait for more London ones especially, route 44 would be brilliant but it's very long an can be a bit boring after Garratt Lane in Wandsworth 😁👍.

      Thanks Mr Krisps! I'm really glad you're enjoying my content! It's also really nice to get some information of the area, being a country bumpkin from the North I have very little knowledge of the area, so again thank you for that! :D

    • @omsipimlico
      @omsipimlico 2 года назад +1

      Glad to see you recognise the area and appreciate the true to life feel. I decided not to build Vauxhall bridge because I’d have to build Vauxhall cross, which for this Game would have taken months and offered awful performance. So the bus takes Chelsea Bridge instead. I used a bit of creative license on the depot runs back to battersea - fan79 (developer)

    I'm a bit unsure of the taxonomy of buses, but I used to drive 2015-2017 Volvo hybrids with ADL Enviro400 facelift bodies, looked near identical to what's in this video. Ours had no complicated interlocks on the brakes, thankfully. I think the door-open switch didn't work until the vehicle stopped. It would chime constantly if you drove with the doors open.
    Or if it thought the doors were open. When they were delivered the sensors were mispositioned or something, so nine times out of ten it would think the doors were open when they definitely were fully shut. And you'd be condemned to either blit about the county for four hours with "Bong… Bong… Bong…" resounding in your ears and with the cab/step door dazzling you, or after every stop dementedly reach out of the cab and repeatedly pull a door open and let it slam until the sensor tripped.

    • @RoamingAdhocrat
      @RoamingAdhocrat 2 года назад

      ah, they were Enviro400 MMCs with, I guess, Volvo B5TH chassis.
