This was in the same tradition as Benny Hill and the Carry on movies. All 3 'Buses' movies were box office hits, and survive as regular and popular TV films. Even now, in some places, bus inspectors are known as 'Blakey's'. 'Buses' was good, clean un-PC humour - you know, the kind that made people LAUGH!!!!
When i watch this, it reminds of the Great Britain that i grew up in. sadly its a very different place now. Its almost a time capsule to watch now. Cheers ATVmidlands UK
yes the abandoned 4th film was turned into a tv series and the 5th a hammer horror nightmare on the buses michael robbins was unavailable reason in the on the buses book he was filming man about the house more likely pink panther strikes again
Love it! I've been a regular rider of public transit over the years and wish funny things like this would happen here (instead of bad like really dangerous nutcase riding on ours).
Excellent stuff, never get bored with this! Not many people realise that Stephen Lewis (Blakey) is actually 20 years younger than Reg Varney (Butler) in real life. He was made to look a lot older in this.
I grew up in the 70s and 80s ....and great comedies was the norm......today it's dead ,.....there's a lack of talent, and the great feelgood working class humor I remember is now a distant memory....
That part where he get splashed by the car I've done that to an inspector I hated. Funny enough the road looks similar. Me and my passengers couldn't stop laughing.
its really funny seeing Borehamwood in the 70's!! The tower block and flats shown at the beginning are just behind Albert Square. The Flats featured regularly in the background of Grange Hill for many years.
and the playground built over the car park in front of the tower block that appeared several times on grange hill during the "elstree years" now demolished.
How anyone can hate this show is beyond me. Yes it's outdated & full of things TV shows just couldn't get away with now, but people loved it for what it was; we didn't take things seriously then. Political Correctness has gone mad, & so has society in general, inc peoples attitudes. Wish I could hop on a bus today & see happy smiley drivers; drivers today always look miserable. I think everyone in general, despite financial hard times, were happier back then than we are now.
I just noticed that they used the same locations on this, as they did on the other film, but doing different things. Like for instance, the puddle Blakey gets splashed by. In the other film he gets splashed by the bus. In this one he realises he's going to get splashed by the bus, moves away, but gets splashed by the car instead.
Oh god here comes Hitler. If I never saw this scene @ my grandmother's house I would've never watched a great comedy classic series. It was just before Stephen Lewis passed away.
An old mate of mine got drunk once and did a Blakey at all the drivers at Wood Green bus garage. I just remember the drivers starting at him rather than reacting like Butler.

Funnily enough even though she has a Cockney accent, she was born and brought up in Sarf Ifrika. (She actually sounds South African when she does interviews, but not as much as natives like my Great Aunt.)
Poor man. Poor, poor man. I think a lot of comedians and comedy actors (or at least actors most noted for comic roles) have a dark side - Tony Hancock, Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan...

I have every episode on DVD.
it doesn't matter how many times I have seen them, they are absolutely brilliantly done.

On The Buses was brilliant, the series and the 3 films. Fantastic cast.

Loved that bit where Jack unrolls the tickets and pockets the money and then goes in the shop. Priceless!
Amazeing how an old classic can be enjoyed by young people of today :D
First film I ever saw at the pictures. Afternoon matinee at the Odeon, Peterborough. Thanks mum! X
I loved all three of them and inspired me to be a bus driver now I am a semi retired bus driver
Love the title music to mutiny on the buses. Whenever I see a double decker bus now I think of that tune
Love these 3 movies
Brilliant situation comedy at its best
When jack spots the betting shop , the look on his face is priceless
Cant stop watching the best .😂
Great Stuff!!!!......R.I.P. Reg Varney 1916-2008.....Lee Slaughter (Cornwall).
The blocks of flats at the start of the film feature quite a lot in late eighties series of Grange Hill as the BBC used part of Elstree Studios.
Brilliant to see this again, Top class comedy. I am amazed at the 11 Dislikes - Where is their sense of humour?
The now 13 Dislikes are from Blakey's family.
it is cut a bit short the end of the music is where they go into the depot

Yh varney was nearly 60 here rolling round with women in their 20s n 30s
The 1970s are a decade some people wished never ended
That is one catchy theme tune!

All the on the buses cast are now dead except Anna Karen but they are by no means forgotten.
she went recently
Anna karan is sadly no longer with us now
@@kevintraynor4508It's horrible how Anna Karen died. She was wheelchair bound and her home caught fire. She died in the fire.
Great theme tune.
The way Blakey falls off the bus XD
Legendary music
‘Ere comes ‘Itler... LOL
Lol like the way they all had to wait until Stan gets down from the upper deck, then blakey appears on the 3rd 11 lol
"I'll have you Butler! Just you see if I don't!"

The Cinema industry was surprised when Hammer said they would make the films
yes the navy lark was their previous comedy film
Comedy gold!!
OWW GAUD THATS MADE MY DAY !!
Bus drivers in this day and age are inspired by this

like when he moves out the way of the water and a car goes though it

Just received On the buses film trilogy on Blu-ray with extras
your welcome, thanks for you comment, reg varney will live on in on the buses
What made on the Busses especially enjoyable for me was the fact that my Uncle worked for the Northern Bus Company as a Conductor.
Those were the days when you didn't need money and materialistic items to be happy because you were not under any pressure by society to have them.

THE 362 BUS ROUTE IS THE BEST SAFE , GOOD DRIVERS ON IT
Luv it!
Didn't know Hammer Films made comedy movies, I thought they only did horror pictures.
on the buses< G.S UPSTAIRS LMAO.
Funnily enough even though she has a Cockney accent, she was born and brought up in Sarf Ifrika. (She actually sounds South African when she does interviews, but not as much as natives like my Great Aunt.)
Trust there to be a number 11, always ran in a convoy
@mentalist555
Agreed. Times were different. Almost like another planet.
Shame on those that allowed it to happen.
i wonder why i cant find the whole mutiny on the buses on you tube??
I love seventies stuff like this. An intimate inspection more like at 0:40!
34 years old here, I hate England now and what it has become, wish I grew up in these times. RIP Bob Grant
Can't beat the old comedy films like these or the carry on films...sod political correctness i say..
Poor man. Poor, poor man. I think a lot of comedians and comedy actors (or at least actors most noted for comic roles) have a dark side - Tony Hancock, Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan...

This misses off the EMI opening for some reason.
Fairs please
I hope that is not true what goes on between male bus drivers and their female conducters. Or is it?😀😁
Dunno, my Uncle was a driver and his wife was a clippie - they had 3 children , + 1 each from other partners that had died during WW2.
Brilliant stuff! Wish today was more like this. :-(
BTW, 4:27 onwards, bet there's houses built on the left of the road to house illegal immigrants.
NO this is thirsk road , borehamwood and it is still open parkland !
